Another fine play by Wong to end Brewer’s 8th. Oh with a scoreless inning. 2-1 Brewers after 8
Cardinals waste Wong’s one out double. Pham rolls over on an outside pitcher and Carpenter flys out yet again.
Siegrist in for the 7th gets Brewers 1-2-3 – 2-1 Brewers after 7
Yadi clunked in the head on strike three to Santana
Cardinals waste a lead-off hit – Another inning ending DP
Cecil with a 1-2-3 6th
Brewers 2 Cards 1 after 6
Wong’s lead-off hit wasted as he is stranded at third.
Watching Carpenter’s Dave Kingman upper cut swing is painful. Wish they would get him to level off and hit doubles again.
Cecil in gets first two and then gives up a run with three straight hits. 2-1 Brewers after 5
So excited for the front office to bring us another like him if we stay close.
walks to Molina and Martinez to start inning lead to a Garcia RBi 1-1 after 4-1/2
Missed a chance as Voit grounds into an inning ending DP
Wong with a great diving catch to end 4th. Still 1-0 Brewers
1-0 Brewers after 3-1/2 Cards go in order
1-0 Brewers after 3 – Wacha’s pitch count is 64, going to need bullpen to eat some innings today. Garza is at 38 pitches through 3.
0-0 after 2-1/2 – good guys with just one base runner so far.
Wacha’s day is going to be a short one if he can’t get a couple low pitch innings. No one out in second at and 30 already.
Nice play by Wong to get tag
Thanks
Brian can you tell those of us without a password or subscription where the good guys fall out?
Rosenthal was great tonight. Cardinals hold on to win 5-4
13 strikeouts tonight
Base running is bad again late in this one.
DeJong having rough night at plate.
AND the bullpen makes this very interesting yet again
No damn excuse to get picked off. 3 strikeouts and then that.
Nice job by Duke after a great start by Weaver
Heck of a play by DeJong and Wong
Congratulations on the date. No they didn’t challenge. Part of the Cardinal Way. You don’t try at the deadline and you just take everything lying down in the game.
Now I was told that they were really close to a lot of trades. Granted the next line was we were waiting for others to make deals first.
Listened to the pregame tonight (had softball so I missed yet another chance to get to .500) and feel so much better about the front office doing nothing (man I almost said that without being upset). Admitted they went after zero big name guys, zero. Yeah lets NOT get a difference maker, the Gyorkos, Fowlers and Cecils of the world will get us to the playoffs! Hey maybe the front office can bring back Broxton. What a bunch of buffoons.
Unless part of the Gray deal was a starting pitcher (i.e., Lynn). That as Brian said, guessing we are spinning much of said attempted deal. If Gray is the only deal he tried it just proves to me he either isn’t very baseball smart or is not paying attention. We need bats too.
