Don’t know who all was watching, but Mo is on broadcast talking about the difficulty of trading in the division and also nobody is “untouchable” and there’s always a return thar would make you consider trading anyone.

To answer that question you have to be at least 50 years old

Or a mom that has watched game show reruns and the Game Show Network as long as you can remember. I’m 38 and have seen a lot of old game shows because of watching them with her.

I think he got yanked for bad base running, maybe he got traded though.

Seems like a quick hook on Hudson.

Carlos? He has a contract for next season at $22.5 and he locked in the availability to opt put at 110 innings pitched. Wouldn’t send the best message to trade a guy only 4 out, I know they have struggled lately though, and a guy you just signed this last off season, but not impossible I guess.

Most of the time I’m with you and take the proven guy. Doesn’t always work out though, Ozuna trade looks awful now. And while i haven’t been the biggest supporter of Gorman, because of bat to ball skill mostly, I’d take him any day over O’Neill. Most prospects don’t pan out or live up to the hype at all, but you’re building a team of 26 here, not a couple positions. Want 2 great player and a losing team go cheer for LAA. I’d take my chances that Soto, if traded to STL, won’t be in STL in 2025. Hold only Gorman, Walker, Winn, whoever they will be in 2025 filling multiple positions. The business model has never been guys like Soto. It’s been build from within, next guy be ready. Start trading from this depth then the Donovans aren’t there to be called upon.

Alright Jojo Siwa has another option year for next year, so it’s not as bad. Still wish they’d filled a hole, but seems like they were trying to make room to get DeJong back on the team though for whatever reason.

Maybe Thompson + Woodford (free Jake!) for Syndegaard?

No. I’d consider Woodford and a low level guy for Syndegaard. No way I’m putting Thompson in it. Syndegaard throws like 92-94 now, not 98-100, he still doesn’t pitch and his slider has been much more hittable without the velocity. Tack on he’s a free agent at years end and still owed over $8 million for the rest of the season. I wouldn’t give up much for him.

With what CIN pulled for Castillo I’d think Lopez value is just as high, if not higher and would cost substantially more than just O’Neill.

Hard to believe this is the best they could pull for Sosa. Dodges traded Zach McKinstry for a good, usable bull pen piece in Chris Martin. The Cardinals trade Sosa for Jojo Romero. This does scare me that they are serious about Soto and they want Thompson as part of it and this was strictly a depth move for the Cardianls. But really would have loved to see then actually fill a hole. Naughton and Thompson had filled the 2nd LHP behind Cabrera very well and they need to replace McFarland in the pen with an arm like Chris Martin. I believe Romero is in his last option year too. This has Aledmys Diaz for JB Woodman all over it. Sosa was just depth but will go have a solid career as a back up, and the Cardinals get someone who will never put on the uniform to fill a hole.

Solano is a former cardinal minor leaguer too. Some former cardinal on former cardinal crime there.

Miami definitely has some depth pieces they could trade though in 1B/DH Aguilar, 1B/DH Cooper, IF Rojas, IF Wendle, IF Berti could all be guys they they could move because of their age and them rebuilding and could all have value to a contending team. I believe Rojas is the only one of the group that has a guaranteed contract for next season and it’s “only” at $5 million.

I would too! Marlins wouldn’t though. BTV has O’Niell as 27.8 and Lopez at 45.7.
Even O’Neill, Sosa, Baker, Nunez (36.6) for Lopez and Bass (47.4) is coming up light, but fits both teams needs. And if I’m trading with MIA might as well get Bass put in it to get in the pen. And no I’m not going to put in Burleson or Yepez. The OF is already light without Bader, and as much as I’m not a believer (fan) of O’Neill it’s hard to say trade him right now because of it. If you do then you’re going to have Donovan, Dickerson, Nootbaar, Yepez (when healthy), maybe Burleson in the corners daily and the lineup is getting LH heavy too, and DH is light too or requiring Pujols to play way too much even if he’s looked better lately he’s still 50 years old.

And if they trade them there’s a really good chance of becoming the Angels. They have one of the best players ever and 1 that is in the 5th season of being around 40% better than league average as a hitter AND his 2nd season about 40% better than league average as a pitcher and they are 15 games below .500. I’d rather stick with the process and build a complete team than have a couple stars and lots of holes around them.

Nats GM said he will not include Corbin to dilute the Soto return. So it’s going to be a lot of top prospects.

Guess my idea of the 3 team trade is out the window as WASH GM said he’s not diluting the Soto trade by including Corbin.

Because Bader’s season is likely over. Carlson will be in CF, O’Neill in LF, and RF will be by committee or Soto.

Yea i havent played with the simulator much.. im not understanding why carlson is 77.5 but arenado is .1 ill have to look at it some more

Carlson isn’t even into arbitration yet, Arenado makes $35 million/year. Carlson is 23, Arenado is 31.
Yes. Arenado is better on thr field right now, but when trading you have to consider the money and the future value. Have to figure Carlson isn’t in his prime had multiple years of team control and Arenado is reaching the end of his prime making a lot of money.
Gorman is 22. If the Cardinals are dumb enough to put him in the center of a Soto trade (and I’ve been very open about not being 100% believer in Gorman and still think it’s dumb), then acquiring team will have 3 years of league minimum cost essentially then arbitration years. There is a TON of value in inexpensive talent.

    1.Edman SS (S)
    2. Carlson CF (S)
    3. O’Neill LF (R)
    4. Pujols 1B (R)
    5. Donovan 3B (L)
    6. Gorman 2B (L)
    7. Dickerson DH (L)
    8. Nootbaar RF (L)
    9. Knizner C (R)

I understand the necessity of playing Pujols in this situation vs. A RHP, but don’t like it and don’t like him 4th or the group of LH hitters all together.

I don’t mean to be critical, but the Cards getting Clevinger and Pomeranz for DeJong, Nootbaar and VerHagen feels one-sided in St. Louis’ favor. I admit I didn’t check player values

According to BTV, the Cardinals actually lose 0.2 in value because of the Pomeranz contract. SD loses about 7.2 in value, while WASH gains about 7.5 in value, which is why I say WASH paying about $7-8 million of Corbin in 2024 to even it out and make that $34 million a little more acceptable for SD.
I don’t know that it works in reality, but in my opinion it solves a lot of problems, wants, for all 3 teams, and leaves the Cardinals with their prospects to make other moves and for the future.

Thanks, I think I just watch and read too much baseball and it’s all my head still has in it when I lay down at night.
But with Matz expected to miss 4-6 weeks, possibly longer if surgery is needed either Pallante has to stay in the rotation or they are going to need 2 SP. And somehow I forgot Naughton on my roster. So I guess leave Pallante in the rotation and Naughton in his pen spot. Keep Woodford and Liberatore stretched out in Memphis if they are needed, sorry Woodford I know you deserve a shot.

Maybe Burleson isn’t vaccinated either. Maybe a lot of the Memphis team isn’t and they took a guy with MLB experience, who is.

They’ve used Sosa and 3B and Gorman or Donovan at 2B previously. Could be a swap of Edman and Donovan. Could be Carlson leading off and Edman down to 6th or 7th, bumping everyone up. We’ll see, but I’d be really surprised if that wasn’t the defensive alignment.

It’s hard for me to believe Walker, Winn, Baker would be enough, even taking on Corbin and the contract. So that would actually be tempting, but I don’t see them adding that kind of payroll.
