Reported Arenado, Goldschmidt, and Romine are the known unvaccinated players and not eligible to travel to Canada. I’ll leave my political points out of this, so it doesn’t get shut down like JT thread did.

Herrera, Capel, Spangenberg will be active for the 2 games.
And no Spangenberg won’t need added to thr 40man as there is an exemption for this situation.
He hasn’t been in the bigs since 2019 with MIL and has an unimpressive .219/.291/.403 with 89 K in 238 AB in Memphis this season, but he does have the ability to play 3B, 2B, 1B, and LF.

So Arenado and Goldschmidt will NOT be playing in this series???

Correct, they can’t travel to Canada where you’re forced to have the vaccine.

Seem like it should be canada that loses their home games. Enough of this nonsense.

TOR is an all RH rotation, so I would guess, with the roster said, we’ll see a couple games something like
    1. Edman – SS (S)
    2. Carlson – CF (S)
    3. O’Neill – LF (R)
    4. Gorman – 2B (L)
    5. Pujols – DH (R)
    6. Donovan – 1B (L)
    7. Sosa – 3B (R)
    8. Nootbaar – RF (L)
    9. Knizner – C (R)

    Spangenberg (L), Dickerson (L), Capel (L), Herrera (R)

And I say with the roster said, because Bader went 0-3 as Memphis DH Friday, didn’t play yesterday, was said he was going to play CF today if all was going well and possibly play in TOR. So he could be back, if vaccinated, for the series, if the foot is feeling better.

Thank God for two things; that the Expos moved out of town years ago and that this is only a 2 game series and not a 4. This is a tremendous advantage for the home team Jays. I’ll have to check their home field record this season……to see if they’re undefeated.

Initial thing I saw said Herrera, Capel, Spangenber were going to be added (and just confirmed on broadcast).

And Oviedo passport is expired and can’t get into Canada either.

KC had 10 players that couldn’t travel to TOR when they went.

Now that’s a real home field advantage. If Bowie Kuhn was still in command, something would be done about this. I wouldn’t trust Manfred with handling the after hour phones, let alone commissioner responsibilities.

Bader didn’t play today in Memphis. Probably not a good sign of him returning quickly. I haven’t seen an update after DH Friday in Memphis. Hudson did start for Memphis though, so hopefully they at least get him back in the rotation.

Bader is still having heel pain. Not looking good for a quick return.

Thank you. Knew it wasn’t right when he wasn’t playing.

Bader’s injury could be career altering. There’s a high likelyhood it saps his speed, which is his #1 tool.

As far as this being an advantage to Toronto, all Blue Jay players have to be vaccinated to play in Toronto which is a heckuva task in creating a roster of 26-players. Also, its not like this is a new rule that was just passed. Its been a rule for years and Cardinals players have known they would be playing in Toronto for at least 8 months.

I wonder if you’d have Gorman make his debut at third. Then Donovan or Sosa could play second.

Exactly, Black Hills. Due to U.S. policy, all non-usa citizens on Toronto have to be vaccinated to enter the U.S. The Jays just chose to do it and not whine about how much they are so abused. It’s pretty funny that the same crowd who says Brittney Griner got exactly what she deserves for not following Russian law is crying about our guys having to following Canadian laws that are nearly identical to ours

They’ve used Sosa and 3B and Gorman or Donovan at 2B previously. Could be a swap of Edman and Donovan. Could be Carlson leading off and Edman down to 6th or 7th, bumping everyone up. We’ll see, but I’d be really surprised if that wasn’t the defensive alignment.

I respect everyone’s choice on getting vaccinated or not, but that really puts us against the wall. I hope we get great pitching, and at least a split.
If I was looking into setting up the post All Star game rotation, I would have had Wainright and Mikolas pitching against the Jays.

As I mentioned on another thread, they also have Spangenberg temporarily. He can play both second and third (Arenado). Donovan may be Goldy’s replacement at first.

As 667 correctly noted in the second post of this thread, if posters start sharing their political views again, we are going to have to close down another thread. We really don’t want to do that, and won’t if everyone just follows the posted forum rules. Thank you for your consideration.

Don’t know about Spangenberg but the only one I would trust at 3rd would be Edman. That would put Sosa at ss and Donovan at 2nd with Gorman or Pulhous at dh or 1st. Outfield O’Niel and Carlson and Dickerson or Capel. I think…
