May was hitting upper 90s. 3 scoreless innings. He is either a keeper to resign, or you trade him at the deadline if one of our prospects is ready.
I think I counted 6 new faces from our recent trades. And hopefully more with Romero and Nootbaar.
Nice outing by Mautz. I wonder if he’ll pitch a third inning.
Doesn’t it seem odd that we have only seen Leahy, Fitts, Liberatore, McGreevy, and Pallante being stretched out? I’m not counting the young prospects, as they probably don’t have a chance to make the team this spring. I know we’ll see May and Dobbins at some point, but it concerns me that we don’t have more options. Maybe they’ll sign a veteran free agent, but I doubt it.
When will we see May?
70 wins seems about right. If they have some surprises, maybe 75.
Terrible idea.
MLB has the Cards lineup ranked at #26. Sounds about right. I’m thinking if there is a season in 2027, we might see some help. Names like Bernal, Baez, Levenson, etc should improve things. Plus there is bound to be a few surprises.
Fitts throws harder than I thought. Maybe he can be an innings eater.
We have a Hence sighting!!
I am not expecting much from Pallante. If he revert back to 2024 form, maybe. I believe he has options left and could be sent down to Memphis. I really bought they’d non tender him. But they don’t any prospects ready.
February 24, 2026 at 4:56 pm in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2024-2026 #301627It has been mentioned that Hernandez from the Dodgers might be a good fit. Is he their 4th outfielder with the Tucker signing? I’m sure they’d eat some salary. Maybe Nootbaar for Hernandez and some cash.
The Cards have 2 very good assets. Catching and left handed starters. Perhaps they can make an old fashioned deal of prospects for prospects. A catcher not named Rodriguez and one of our lefty starters for a right handed hitting outfield prospect. Maybe Bloom plans on dealing Nootbaar for outfield help?
Too many free passes the last couple games. Hopefully they can be explained by nerves.
Can’t Roby be moved to the 60 day DL? Or maybe Thompson?
And I agree that Marmol must not like stealing bases.
I’m not counting on Nootbaar being ready to start the year. I didn’t mention Church, but I’d like to him get a chance. He can play all 3 OF positions, is solid defensively, and has a plus arm. But can he hit mLB is the question. I also wonder if Walker hits lefties better than right handed pitchers. And yes I know hasn’t hit anyone. Yet thinking maybe he could be of use as a platoon player.
I wonder which Fitts we will see? In 2024 he had good numbers for the Sox. 2025 was not the same. I am guessing he will be a back end starter.
I kind of think we will hit better as a team this year compared to last. But granted it’s not a high bar to top. First base is the most questionable, as Burleson will likely hit for average better than Contreras, but doesn’t have the power Wilson does.
I would not stay with Walker too long. Perhaps there will be a right handed hitter available when the last of the ST cuts occur.
Wetherholt should put up good numbers.
Winn I hope hits a little better, but his gold glove makes him an every day guy.
Herrera has to stay healthy. I could see him hitting 25-30 homers.
I’ll be glad to see all the new faces. I feel a fresh was needed, and I like moving the veterans, but am very worried there won’t be a 2027 season. They will need a couple major surprises in the outfield, and/or lineup to be a .500 team,
Brian, if you’re still at Spring Training, can you ask about our injured prospects like Hence, Rincon, Hjerpe. Even Roby and Willis too.
Obviously they are hoping that Ramos doesn’t get claimed. I’m not sure either will help the big club. Ramos is younger and gives minor league infield depth, while Kent has the 40 man spot, and likely options.
When will we know more about Hendersons injury? I read that a lat strain has 3 grades. Grade 1 is very short term to grade 3 which he could be out for months.
February 12, 2026 at 4:20 pm in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2024-2026 #300763I am on the fence about trading away Granillo, unless he is a dominant closer for the Nats. I , like others thought the Cards valued control and options. I do like our reliever prospects like gastulem, love and Watson. Maybe Hence is a reliever too. I think there is a very good chance of seeing those 4 in the Lou this year.
Soriano has a very good record against right handed hitters. Perhaps he could be a ROOGY.
