Bloom has shown good patience waiting for his expected trade returns (Donovan). I expect him to wait for full value from our remaining players, whether it be Noot coming back from surgery, or the production concerns of Gorman/Pallante. Their value likely only increases, but needs future development. Since development is our game plan, Blooms patient long-game approach fits, w/runways cleared of logjams.
With all the talented prospects added, there will sometime be a need to trade prospects for an area of need. Especially with injured prospects like Roby, Hence and Hjerpe burning up option years. I’m thinking possibly trading some of our pitching for hitters. I’m not saying this year, but as the FO needs to evaluate new players. We also have many prospects at the A/A+ levels. They’re likely 2-3 years from MLB, if ever.
I’d like to sign Laweryson. He had a brief good stint in MLB last year, and has solid career numbers in the minors. The Angels just cut him. He’s got to be better than Roycroft.
I like picking up Ramos as well. He has pop, and is very young. I just wonder who gets cut for his 40 man spot.
Lots of chatter about Castellanos, and they ship out a prospect. Having one veteran bat wouldn’t be awful, but would the Dewallet open up for $20m?
Teoscar, with control and team options, and can at least stand in the OF is my preference.
Castellanos has no chance in Stl and it won’t be about his salary. When he did the Hulk flex over Jake Woodford, lying with his back at home plate, Nick blackballed himself from Stl.
Guys like Bill DeWitt, a mlb lifer, they remember everything that disrespects their org, and I hope he does remember.

It seems to me that Bloom and his lieutentants have a certain type of pitcher they prefer. They seem to like the guys who throw hard and can potentially rack up the K’s. Maybe they see that in Soriano. They better hope so since he has zero options left.
Based on their preferences I don’t see much of a future in STL for someone like Pete Hansen. Pete doesn’t light up the radar gun. He just gets guys out. Kind of like the departed Curtis Taylor who is now in South Korea.
I am on the fence about trading away Granillo, unless he is a dominant closer for the Nats. I , like others thought the Cards valued control and options. I do like our reliever prospects like gastulem, love and Watson. Maybe Hence is a reliever too. I think there is a very good chance of seeing those 4 in the Lou this year.
Bloom still values control yrs and options, but it’s player specific.
We better hope Bloom and his wonks evaluate players well. They are in charge of the roster churn going forward. TBD.

What would a trade involving JoJo to Boston net us in return? I read where they are looking for LH reliever help.
Cardsfan64, I wouldn’t expect a “top 100” type prospect, but a top 200 is definitely likely.
-Payroll on Cots is $98M
-Trade Jojo for best prospect offered (-4.26M)
-Overpay for Coulumbe ($4M?)
-Sign (overpay if needed) a reclamation SP on minors deal
-Have Noot, May, reclamation project SP and Coulumbe as July trade chipsJoJo has 12 saves in 24 career opportunities. That’s not a proven closer, and maybe he can’t, but there’s an open runway for someone.
What if he saves 12 to 15 games during the first 100 games by the deadline? What’s his value then?
Bloom has shown good patience to look for max value of each of our traded players. Some guys he may want to try and develop a little longer, before flipping?

What if Jojo gets injured?
What if Jojo’s performance falls off?Take what they can get and then sign Coulumbe for less than Jojo’s money and end up with an extra lottery ticket at the deadline.
Acquiring as much talent as possible is the goal for 2026 and that plan does that.We may take what we can get, but we’re also in the “develop” priority again. That means all our players. Some will become injured, some will under-achieve, but I don’t disagree with hold and develop to chase upside before flipping. The reward outways the risk on JoJo, for me.
It has been mentioned that Hernandez from the Dodgers might be a good fit. Is he their 4th outfielder with the Tucker signing? I’m sure they’d eat some salary. Maybe Nootbaar for Hernandez and some cash.
He is currently their starting LF. I don’t see the Dodgers trading him and I don’t see the Cardinals taking on that kind of salary. We are a welfare team now.
