Did Mathews get pulled from the game for being hit with a comebacker?

Mathews was hit near the elbow on a comebacker but stayed in. He left after reaching his pitch count. Supposedly he is ok, but let’s see how he feels today.

Funny that it happened when I was on live with Claibs and Chris Rongey on KMOX.

The Cards put up 10 on the Fish today. JJ plated three. Prieto doubled and homered.

Today, I watched the Reds beat the Brewers 9-7. Hunter Greene was hit hard despite throwing 100. Matt McLain was among those who homered.

    When will we see May?

Doesn’t it seem odd that we have only seen Leahy, Fitts, Liberatore, McGreevy, and Pallante being stretched out? I’m not counting the young prospects, as they probably don’t have a chance to make the team this spring. I know we’ll see May and Dobbins at some point, but it concerns me that we don’t have more options. Maybe they’ll sign a veteran free agent, but I doubt it.

Nice outing by Mautz. I wonder if he’ll pitch a third inning.

Mautz has looked pretty good outside the walks so far

Not wild about Marmol’s catcher rotation…Crooks starts hitting and then doesn’t play last 2 games

Yellow Ledbetter may be their best OF bat this spring….3 hits in last 4 including walkoff today

GG – That’s how Spring Training works at the beginning. Everyone rotates regardless of who is hitting well. Goal is to get everyone ready to play, not to win Spring games.

I am more about developing a young player like Crooks, I know what Pozo and Pages can do

Just looking at the Catcher hitting #’s thru 11 games of spring for the presumed major league roster contenders.

Pages is 1-10 with 1 RBI, 0 HR
Pozo is 4-11 with 4 RBI, 1 HR
Herrera is 0-2 no RBI in at bats as a Catcher, had 2 AB’s at DH
Crooks is 4-9 with 4 RBI, 1 HR

Anyone see how May looked? The results look pretty good.

May was hitting upper 90s. 3 scoreless innings. He is either a keeper to resign, or you trade him at the deadline if one of our prospects is ready.

That person who was just about hit with the ball wasn’t BW, was it? Lol

I havent been able to watch but i have gotten good reports on fitts, maye, and liberatore. Mcgreevy seems fine. I like where our pitching staff is headed. Even naughton is getting good marks. Weatherholt is asuredly making the opening day roster. As long as fans dont get crazy expectations, this could be a fun season regardless. Im def thinking about making a weekend trip with my son to see some games.

Nope. I was in Port St. Lucie today with the minor leaguers. Look for my report starring Liam Doyle and Chase Heath!

Burelson looking good. Weatherholt is hitless with a strikeout. I like his approach. I still think he makes the team though im still not with him being a leadoff hitter right now.
