Has anyone ever seen Motter and Woodford together?
The Tampa Bay Rays have placed RHP Cole Sulser (lower back spasms) on the 15-day IL (retro July 26) and recalled RHP Chris Roycroft from Triple-A Durham.

They sure don’t sound very close.
“The league’s proposal is to slash overall player compensation from where it stands now by hundreds of millions, lock it in, and guarantee it can never grow more than revenues again,” Meyer said. “If players had agreed to a deal like the one that has been proposed at any time in… https://t.co/QJbufdUOHm

Well, a snafu has occurred. Despite what was posted on MiLB.com and via X and told to me initially by an organization official, Facundo Velasquez has NOT been released.
Cards Player Dev deleted the above Tweet and MiLB.com is removing the transaction. I backed out the change in the Roster Matrix as well.
The #stlcards have promoted two more teen rookie-ball standouts to full-season ball for the first time, Miguel Hernández and Cristofer Lebrón. https://t.co/fOodKW5gkr pic.twitter.com/NlUIY2jRu4

The High-A Peoria Chiefs went 4-2 at home vs. West Michigan before winning the Cedar Rapids road opener in the 10th inning. With a 1.915 OPS, #stlcards IF prospect Jack Gurevitch is the Midwest League Player of the Week. https://t.co/cDDVm8F7mk pic.twitter.com/hvbvnzrIjX

Podcast time! @kyler416 and I start with the idea and timing of trading Herrera and Nootbaar, bullpen turnover and potential rotation changes. We focus on hitters in the system including Jack Gurevitch, Tai Peete, Colton Ledbetter, Chase Davis, Joshua Baez and more!… pic.twitter.com/XXdITxO2iF

The #stlcards system was 2-3 on Tuesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Peoria 2B Jalin Flores, was 2-for-5 with a home run and the game-winning RBI in the 10th inning. Other standouts: Braden Davis, Tre Richardson, Jesús Báez, Jacob Odle, Ian Petrutz and Tai Peete.… pic.twitter.com/n1nZknwKpY

Brian, I assume this is just a procedural move to put them on a team since the FCL has already finished their schedule. Can we expect some of the draftees will be moved up to Palm Beach as soon as next week? I would love to see them get into some action!
Yes. Oddly, Henne, Harrison and Horn are the last three draft picks yet to be placed on a roster.
I also hope some of them will appear with Palm Beach. Who depends on the Cardinals assessment of their readiness to play after a layoff period. Kyle is convinced that Condon will talk his way into a Palm Beach game!
Thank you for the information on trades and 15-day option period. Learned something new!
The Cardinals — who have the top catching prospect in MLB (Rainiel Rodriguez) at Double-A and another of their Top 5 prospects (Leo Bernal) at Triple-A — could also be open to moving one of their catchers, likely either Pedro Pagés or Iván Herrera, per sources.

There was an open 40-man spot when Blewett was DFAed.
They likely sent Strzelecki to Jupiter first because of the facilities and coaches there.
Options are 15 days for pitchers. An early return is allowed if someone else goes on the IL. A one-day return is allowed for the 27th man in a double-header. I am not aware of a trade rule.

Kublick was activated on 7/17. At the time, I changed my master copy but didn’t update the live Matrix to remove the (7 IL) after his name or list the transaction. So, 29+7 should be right. Thank you for bringing this up.
It is a sign that the player is close to becoming Rule 5 eligible and is getting a last chance to show he deserves a 40-man spot.
The Class-A Palm Beach Cardinals split their home series with Tampa. #stlcards OF prospect Yordalin Peña continues his red-hot hitting, batting .444 with eight hits, half for extra bases (two doubles and two HRs), and six RBIs. https://t.co/7qap57Txd0 pic.twitter.com/kAFE5k3Ybo

July 28, 2026 at 7:00 am in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #107 thread – Tuesday, July 28 vs. Chicago Cubs #314353I wish there was a batting order that would ensure optimal performance. But when you are re-shuffling the same cards, the outcome isn’t likely to improve markedly.
Last night, they had seven hits and the Cubs had 14. Pretty easy to predict the result.

July 27, 2026 at 6:58 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #106 thread – Monday, July 27 vs. Chicago Cubs #314283The stated reason for Walker batting second is to give the team’s best hitter more at-bats.

Congratulations to @peoriachiefs IF Jack Gurevitch, the Midwest League Player of the Week. He hit .500 (10-for-20) including five home runs, eight RBIs and a league-best 1.915 OPS. Gurevitch is The Cardinal Nation's 25th-ranked #stlcards prospect. pic.twitter.com/8a6UstOry4

Confirming that both have been released.
I mixed up Levenson and Honeyman. Thank you for pointing it out so I could correct it.
Yes, Herrera is correct. I suspect it is an MiLB.com snafu but will check on it. Either he and Velazquez are both released or they mixed up the two names.
