July 29, 2026 at 6:27 pm #314502Jake Woodford has been selected by the Cubs. There could be a thread dedicated solely to his transactions.
July 29, 2026 at 7:17 pm #314503Has anyone ever seen Motter and Woodford together?
July 29, 2026 at 7:59 pm #314508According to Baseball Reference, Motter has a career ERA of 6.75. Woodford’s ERA this year is 7.46.
July 31, 2026 at 7:09 pm #314710The Giants are refusing to pay Bader after his scooter accident.
July 31, 2026 at 7:13 pm #314711July 31, 2026 at 7:27 pm #314717Another article on Bader’s mess.
Former Phillies outfielder Harrison Bader is out for the season with the San Francisco Giants. He was in a scooter accident where he reportedly drove his scooter into the back of a fire truck and that fire truck then ran over his injured foot. Witnesses are saying that he was…

ParticipantWell this is on bader if the drinking is true. Driving anything while drinking is wrong, even a bicycle. I guess hes frustrated with his health, i understand, but just some things you cant do as an athlete. Will be interesting to see if he can be released and denied money over it. Lot of money to blow. If its all true, and hes released, he prob wont get another shot even if health allows it. That plantar stuff is hard on athletes.

ParticipantWell i just read in another article that the giants are suspending baders pay pending investigation. Ive been a big bader fan and hoped he could at least find some stability but this is all on bader if the drinking is true. But its a lesson others can learn from.
July 31, 2026 at 8:46 pm #314735Bader received a $6 million signing bonus and is being paid a $4.5 million base salary this season, meaning that unless he successfully appeals, he will lose $1.45 million in salary the rest of the season. https://t.co/jsR392q9R5

ParticipantWell bader better do everything he can and more to prove he can earn that 10 million next year. I hope the giants give him that opportunity but we will see. Wouldnt surprise me if they just take the hit next year.
July 31, 2026 at 8:54 pm #314741Dumb thing to do for sure if it is all true. His career may be over and he has no one to blame but himself.
August 2, 2026 at 5:30 pm #314974Buddy Kennedy was DFAed again, this time by Seattle. The Giants, where he started the season, claimed him.
In an amazing story, 36-year-old Robert Stock made it back from Thoracic Outlet Syndrome and started today for the Mets.

I wonder if Brandon Clarke’s recovery from Thoracic Outlet surgery (2022) will be equally amazing.
August 2, 2026 at 7:03 pm #314985The American Journal of Sports Medicine reported an overall return-to-same-level rate of 79% for professional pitchers who had TOS. So Clarke would not be amazing.

I feel Stock’s case was amazing because of his journeyman status and his advanced age. Those factors were already against him even before TOS.
August 2, 2026 at 7:48 pm #314988Weird deal with Bader and scooter accidents. He must feel that when he over does it with the booze, he will take a scooter so he can avoid a DUI. But when you cannot even handle a scooter, then you might need to address the root cause rather than the effect.
August 2, 2026 at 8:32 pm #314993I don’t know if it’s accurate info, but I’ve been led to understand that riding a bicycle on a public road while impaired can subject them to a drunk driving arrest.
August 2, 2026 at 8:45 pm #314994Bader strikes me as the ‘hold my beer and watch this’ type both on and off the field. Some people approach life that way. Some people think its smart to give those types a guaranteed contract. It takes all kinds, as the saying goes.
August 2, 2026 at 9:15 pm #314996It is not guaranteed when the player violates terms of the contract. The Giants have already said they will not pay the remainder of his salary.
