Well OK forsch, I am happy to take your word for it and hope you are right. My thinking is he is a AA pitcher who skipped AAA and got a cuppa due to the quirky 2020 season. Rather like Carlson is on the position player side. In both cases we will have to see what happens once opponents have had a good look.

I do wonder how international guys like him are going to work their way up now without the short season levels.

My friends and I made use of the general admission tickets that were offered at Busch Memorial when it first opened. A couple bucks and you sat wherever you wanted in the top 10 or so rows all the way around the cookie cutter. We would take the bus right down Gravois to the day games. Hardly ever missed one all summer. Really terrible seats but we usually worked our way down.

You know cranny, part of it is that it was also one of the last baseball games played there, on a site where baseball had been played for 100 years. Baseball royalty all played there. The same with Sportsman’s Park. I have only a vague and fading memory of the place but Babe Ruth was there and so was I. A couple of my kids have some appreciation when I talk about that sort of thing. My 18 year old grandson just looks at me funny. But he wants the $100 sneakers some athlete is hawking.

We like to get carried away with our prospects, I get that. But one in a row might be a little too soon to say he’s a keeper. His most notable attribute is that he keeps it in the park. Which I like. Nothing else jumps off the page.

I wonder if it will create an opportunity for Jon Jay who is on Angels taxi squad. Or was last I heard.

That trip is not my ultimate claim to fame in the ballgame attending derby. I am told I attended a Cards vs. Mets game at the Polo Grounds in late summer of 1963, in which Stan the Man appeared in one of his final games before calling it quits. I do not remember as I was maybe kindergarten age. But still, I feel almost famous.

I attended a few games at the mistake by the lake one summer as a kid. We did a grand tour going to baseball games all over the northern part of the country east of St. Louis. I also remember it being cavernous. My dad and grandpa may very well have arranged the travel itinerary to coincide with 10 cent beer day.

Its fueled by the fat TV contracts, which to some extent filter down to the small markets. so long as people tune in and sit through the endless commercials and stoppages they do not care who is in the stands or what they think about the game on the field. They do want you to think about the $15 everything nachos and $12 beer. None of that is for me, but to each his own.

Thomas’s OBP 1.000, so far so good. I’m tired of outfielders standing in with a pool noodle on their shoulder.

Pugs I failed to mention that Oviedo would also get our first RBI but I was thinking it, trust me on that.

Oviedo’s BBRef page says he hit 5 batters in 24 innings last year. Let’s bring him in. Maybe scare them to death.

I interpret Shildt’s comments as he will platoon Thomas. Too bad. I could live with Carlson, Thomas and Dean for a while and see what happens. I think someone else said the same.

DeJong is more than capable as long as he isn’t relied upon being “the guy”.

Exactly. The solid D up the middle is great, and if he would be dropped down in the order .235 wouldn’t be such a stick in the spokes and a homer a week could come in handy. But somebody has to step up as middle of the order worthy. I wouldn’t move Carlson up until he puts up actual results. So far its just hype and sabr spew.

Does anybody know what Thomas’s platoon split looks like in MiLB. Not enough MLB to tell anything.

I love Puig also but think Reddick is much better fit for the “cardinal” way!

I literally just had coffee shoot out of my nose.

Sign Josh Reddick he is available and would bring in solid defense, solid bat and great team guy!

    2016 with LA: BA .258
2017 with Houston during electronic sign sealing season: BA .314
2018 sign stealing thing broken up: BA .242

I’d rather go for Puig and just hire somebody to follow him around.

Shelby Miller reportedly had a good ST with the Cubs and is at their alternate site, so we might see him this year.
