Weren’t we supposed to get a PTBNL in the Nootbaar trade? Did we or was it settled for cash considerations?
I don’t think they will sign a May type starter. The rotation on opening day could be the same as it is now. Liby, Pallante and Leahy should do OK early in the season. Things would get interesting later in the year. Injuries obviously could speed that up, but we will have internal options for a stop gap guy or two.
The pen will likely see some turnover, but again, mainly internal options. I hope Bloomster can avoid having to go low hanging fruit shopping.
I could see a trade or two to sort things, maybe affecting the ML roster around the edges. No big FA there either though. Later in the year maybe some position players will be kicking down the door.
I’m hopeful that he can do it.

3B Jose Fermin RHaving TJ that young is an issue though. It suggests extreme usage of the arm at a young age when the structures of the arm and the body as a whole is still in the growth stage. It is now known, or highly suspected, by legit sources, that such extreme use can cause abnormal development. In at least one case I have looked into this abnormal development was shown to result in shoulder architecture which places the arm in a disadvantageous position for tolerating stress without injury. I have previously posted a link to that study.
How do we know Clarke was “tearing himself up”?
He blew out his UCL in high school.
As an aside: It is reasonable to guess that extreme use of his arm at that stage of life could be responsible for the pitching arm vascular irregularity as well.
Clarke has been tearing himself up since high school when he had TJ. Prototypical case of a kid stressing him arm too much before his body was finished growing. They need to make him a closer and try to get what they can while they can. I’m guessing Roby might be in that bucket too. But good luck to them.
Those last couple innings took years off my life. The pitch that got through Bernal in the 9th could have been a disaster with the runners moving up. But the laser beam throw from Winn ended it. A fantastic performance by a bunch of young players.
Yep. Graceffo’s success doesn’t align with the science, so it is luck. Its not a hole in the science.
A very good rule of thumb is the better the bat, the more suspicious you should be of the defense. A few lasers into the parking lot and the eyes roll back and all else is seen through a skewed lens.
I sometimes think my thinking on the subject goes back to the first major I tried out in college, which was anthropology. 100% of the time when the experts couldn’t figure out what some ancient artifact had been used for it was declared to be ‘for ritual purposes’. As if cave men had limitless leisure time to craft items with no practical utility. Endless amounts of stuff was for ritual purposes. They were so sure, but it was so absurd. The hubris it implied amongst the experts was appalling. Whenever there is a convenient off ramp where the unexplained is dumped, thus avoiding an unflattering assessment of the current state of the art, I think of that and of the hubris behind it.
Is it really random?
