Sosa: “Oh, I get to start?”
DeJong: “You bet, good luck vs Nola!”

This one will be tough. After Nola shutting us down the other day perhaps we can obtain a measure of revenge. Anybody know our track record against him?

And does anybody expect payback today for Harper’s beaning?

Din-din today is another ribeye steak in the air fryer, crinkle cut french fries, Minutemaid Lemonade, a bowl of homemade ice cream, and then a cigar or two during the game. Whitey Herdog and me will be on the couch, tuning in.

Any word on the weather at Busch today? I havent checked the Doppler Radar yet.

    r/Esteemed Rat

EDIT: Doppler Radar shows no rain in the St. Louis area so the game should be fine.

I’m about to sit down to a din-din of beef enchiladas, refried beans and a salad, washed down with a Belgian beer (no cerveza available apart from that awful Corona stuff). Dessert TBD following first pitch.

After a series of night games too late for me, I’m looking forward to watching this one. Hope our birds give KK some run support. And no HBPs please.

    Rah Cardinals!

KK allowed a couple hits in the first but got out of it. Nola retired the Cards easily on a grounder, a lazy fly ball and a K of Goldy.

Ump gave Nola a couple of wide ones in that first inning.

Glad to hear Harper is alright. That was scary.

In the Oviedo article linked above, the question of who may have to fill SP6 role the next time it rolls around is presented. Today it looks like Ponce De Leon, imo, who just rode the pine for 7 games before posting an inning yesterday. PDL’s usage between now and that SP6 start will give us clues whether it’s he or another SP’r.

The radio announcers gave Sosa serious props on a first inning ground ball up the middle. Anyone with a telecast agree?

This one feels like a classic 0 or 1 run game for the Cards. Nola is completely locked in again.

Realmuto hits a gapper to score the run. It’s 1-0 Phillies.

That and the cards offense is putrid.

Edman rips one out to right and the right fielder runs it down. Kingery squibs one barely into right and gets a single. Seems like the Phillies have the luck against St Louis this year, when you consider how bad the Cards have been dominated by the bad Phillies bullpen.

Yet another bloop. Kim’s pitch count is way too high. Gonna be up to the pen to hold the line.

The Phillies are making every play. Nola is completely settled in. Feels like another frustrating day.

I think with this crappy offense there are going to be ALOT of frustrating days this year for Redbird fans

When Carp took the first pitch right down the middle, I said “That is the only pitch you are going to get to hit – gotta jump on that.” But he got another not quite as good, but squared it up.
