The following are suspect to hold a place on the 40 man –
Andrew Miller
Justin Miller
John Quesada
Brandon Waddell
T. J. ZuechCan you make a good case that any of them should remain on the 40 man roster?

.200/.290/.333/.623. He was considered the best CF in MLB.
The Cards got rid of him, defense or not.Bader’s last full season, 2019, he had the following line –
.205/.314/.366/.680This season, Bader has the following lines by month –
April – only played in 1 game
May – .217/.304/.420/.724
June – Hurt
July – .357/.402/.619/1.021
August – .152/.229/.192/.421bccranParticipantAs I stated, BB, the above are only the position players. Here’s the WHIP of the various pitchers at Memphis for the year.
Warner – 1.07
Whitley – 1.13
Ramirez – 1.17
Rondon – 1.37
Thomas – 1.40
Woodford – 1.56
Elledge – 1.86August 31, 2021 at 10:30 am in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 128 thread – Tue, Aug 31 at Reds (ppd to Wed) #171304bccranParticipantThe highest probability for rain today in Cincy is 43%, as you scroll through the hourly forecasts.

bccranParticipantIf it’s a position player, here are the OPS stats for the Redbirds –
Yepez – .981
Nootbaar – .900
Capel – .803
Gorman – .796
Robertson – .701
Sanchez – .679
Mendoza – .617
Hurst – .568The decision seems pretty obvious.
bccranParticipantGo Libby!

You’re the stat guru. How many runs has he saved this year. I just checked and one data base has him at 15 runs saved at the 662 innings point. His slash line in August is .152/.229/.192/.421. Please try to justify that.
bccranParticipantReally good stuff from VEB.
August 30, 2021 at 7:16 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 127 thread – Monday. August 30 at Reds #171258bccranParticipantThe geeks should be able to come up with how to measure that. For any batter.
August 30, 2021 at 6:54 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 127 thread – Monday. August 30 at Reds #171255bccranParticipantWhen an outfielder goes back on a ball instead of coming in, and the ball drops in for a double, how do account for that gift in the batter’s BA, OBP, Slg. %, OPS, and WAR?
August 30, 2021 at 5:45 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 127 thread – Monday. August 30 at Reds #171247bccranParticipantThe rain is 106 miles SW of Cincy. If it moves at around 30 mph they should get the game in.
August 30, 2021 at 2:31 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 127 thread – Monday. August 30 at Reds #171231bccranParticipantRats –
This is what makes me hurl. In the St. Louis Post Dispatch this morning, Shildt was asked about Bader’s awful offensive performance this month – 14 for 95 with one run batted in. Shildt responded – “this guy saves us about 3 runs a night”. I just lost all respect for our manager.
August 29, 2021 at 1:04 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 126 thread – Sunday, August 29 at Pirates #171133bccranParticipantI would like it, BB. Our Cfer is .154/.238/.187/.434 for the last month. Over 100 plate appearances.
August 29, 2021 at 9:25 am in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 125 thread – Saturday, August 28 at Pirates #171108bccranParticipantBB – you can’t talk about upgrading the offense without talking about Carpenter, DeJong, and Bader. Carp is gone. Sosa is doing a decent job replacing DeJong. That leaves sliding Carlson or O’Neill over to CF and plugging in a new starting corner outfielder. That could be Nootbaar, Yepez, Burleson, or an addition from outside.
bccranParticipantYepez this season between Springfield and Memphis –
352PA/.274/.377/.588/.965/24HR/
63RBIWhat’s really nice is that he’s showing that power with a strike out rate of only
18%.bccranParticipantYepez has seen some games in the OF at both Springfield and Memphis this season.
August 29, 2021 at 7:20 am in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 125 thread – Saturday, August 28 at Pirates #171095bccranParticipantCan’t have guys like Carp, DeJong, and Bader in the lineup and expect to compete against the big boys. The Carp problem was fixed. The DeJong problem is being fixed…finally. It’s now time to address the Bader problem.
August 28, 2021 at 9:14 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 125 thread – Saturday, August 28 at Pirates #171057bccranParticipantEdman came to us from Stanford, where he was an engineering student.
August 28, 2021 at 9:12 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 125 thread – Saturday, August 28 at Pirates #171056bccranParticipantWe all have a right to our opinions willie. Oh, and by the way. Please criticize the post. Not the poster. Thank you.
August 28, 2021 at 8:27 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 125 thread – Saturday, August 28 at Pirates #171039bccranParticipantIt was a very catchable ball, willie. That he could have caught at his shins.
Bader just walked on a high pitch that was almost over his head. Does that count toward his OBP and OPS, willie?
August 28, 2021 at 8:14 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 125 thread – Saturday, August 28 at Pirates #171034bccranParticipantBader did not have to dive for that ball. What a drama king.
August 28, 2021 at 7:28 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 125 thread – Saturday, August 28 at Pirates #171025bccranParticipantTechnical question. Does an intentional walk go towards your OBP and OPS?
August 28, 2021 at 11:13 am in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 124 thread – Friday, August 27 at Pirates #170992bccranParticipantThe reason why the Cards are so frustrating to watch is the lack of a true leadoff hitter and the lack of clutch hitting in the 5-7 positions in the lineup. O’Neill and DeJong were supposed to be RBI guys. O’Neill has all of 48 RBI and DeJong has an anemic 40 RBI.
bccranParticipantI get a kick out of guys who “categorize”
players. Like the description of Rondon. Sure, Rondon has been in the minors for 6 years. He was signed when he was very young is only 23 right now. Sure he is .500 with wins and losses. A fairly meaningless stat which depends on the team around you, both offensively and defensively. But no mention that his ERA as a minor leaguer is in the low 3s. And that he’s getting valuable experience at Memphis this season.Oviedo? You’re right, he was beamed up.
He was signed very young and is also only 23. They say he has great stuff, and is trying to work now on control.
No one can predict if he will be a 4/5, 3/4, or 2/3. -
