Gassy is downright filthy! That’s 4 performances in a row that Gassy has pitched brilliantly. Today he mows them down 1-2-3, two via strike-out. 11 pitches, 9 were strikes. Do we have our future closer in our midst in the person of Luis Enrique Gastelum? Could be.
Din-din tonight was 2 Popeye’s chicken breasts, large bowl of their tasty red beans and rice and 3 of their scrumptious apple cinnamon pies.
August 16, 2026 at 10:30 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #124 thread – Sunday, August 16 at Chicago Cubs #316375Kudos to Oli & Co. for staying with Gassy during his initial subpar performances. This makes 3 straight nice outings out of the pen. Gassy has filthy stuff and now that he has his control issues harnessed, he’ll be very enjoyable to watch.
Who at the beginning of the season could have foreseen both Burly and Walker with 120 rbi campaigns? It’ll be close, but I think both have a shot at it.
August 15, 2026 at 10:59 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #124 thread – Sunday, August 16 at Chicago Cubs #316301I wonder if Pugs arranged for him to have them before the game?
Have not met the Boston Bomber(Joshua Baez)yet, Rat. But I encourage everyone to eat at least 2 helpings of catfish fiddlers a week. Wheaties cereal used to be the breakfast of champions, but catfish fiddlers have surplanted Wheaties for that coveted distinction. You know what if one were to sit down for din-din and devour both a heaping plate of the fiddlers followed by a large bowl of Wheaties? It makes sense that this was exactly the pregame meal that Baez consumed today. I don’t know about you guys, but I know exactly what I’m having for din-din tomorrow.
August 15, 2026 at 6:13 pm in reply to: StL 2026 Gm #123 thread – Sat, Aug15 at Cubs – “The Baez Game” #316276Just looking ahead to the 2027 campaign and my math is a bit rusty. Anyone know what 3 × 162 =?
August 15, 2026 at 10:51 am in reply to: StL 2026 Gm #123 thread – Sat, Aug15 at Cubs – “The Baez Game” #316181I have but only 4 words on this fine Saturday morning up here in the frozen tundra……..”No Leonardo Abdiel Bernal?”
August 14, 2026 at 8:04 am in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #122 thread – Friday, August 14 at Chicago Cubs #316095Rat’s advancing age is starting to show, Bling, as catfish fiddlers now occupy his wildest fantasies instead of those attractive Amish waitresses……fiddlers and of course his 7×50 Rio Grande El Presidente cigars. My eyes are definitely on the fiddlers for din-din myself tonight…..Wisconsin River catfish fiddlers to be exact.
I can’t wait to see Leonardo Abdiel Bernal in action at Wrigley this weekend, as he should get the call-up tomorrow. For those of us residing in the greater Durham, N.C. area, be on the lookout in the airport in the departing flights to Chicago area today for a Bernal sighting. I’m totally blowing off a couple things I had planned this weekend in anxious anticipation of seeing Leonardo and possibly Baez hammer those cubbies into submission in their own ballpark.
August 12, 2026 at 9:33 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #121 thread – Wed., August 12 vs. Philadelphia Phillies #316004Hate missing all of these games and game threads, as I’ve spent nearly the entire summer on Lake Michigan. Also miss my catfish fiddlers on Fridays. However, I’ve indulged in a few fish boils(whitefish) up in Door County. Speaking of catfish fiddlers, I’ve ate them from the mighty Mississippi River, Ohio River, Rock River and from fish farms, but hands down the best fiddlers are from the Wisconsin River…….they nearly melt in your mouth. For those of you whom are reluctant to try some catfish fiddlers, thinking that they are lowdown, scum sucking, bottom dwellers, you are absolutely correct……but properly prepared, there’s nothing quite like them……just ask Rat or Bling.
After some miserable outings, it’s refreshing to see Gassy get back on track with two nice performances. Gassy brings a lot to the table and should be a mainstay in our pen for many years to come. Anyway, this is the last summer that I’ll be jetting around the great State of Wisconsin instead of watching Cardinals baseball……..it’s time to settle down.
With those kind of odds one would be crazy not to plop down some benjamins on Sal prevailing, KeepComingBack. One problem though…….I never bet against our Birds. Mark my words, unless JJ really gets rolling big time offensively, or Sal tanks, RoY honors are Stewart’s.
If they voted today JJ would come in 2nd to Stewart…….and I don’t think the vote would be all that close.
August 4, 2026 at 4:21 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #114 thread – Tuesday, August 4 at New York Yankees #315316Need The Big Dobbinski to pitch a dandy tonight. The samplings are small, but thus far he’s been able to keep the bottom dwellers like Cincy and the Angels in check, but struggled with more accomplished clubs. Unfortunately, in all likelihood, the Yanks are going to light him up tonight. Hope I’m wrong, but I have to call this one 8-3 Yanks with our old pal Goldy finding the cheap seats with bat in hand.
What’s for din-din one may ask? How does 2 Oscar Meyer all beef bologna sandwiches grab you? Both on white bread, one with mayo and the other yellow mustard. These two gems will be accompanied by some homemade deviled eggs, sweet dill Gerkins pickles and Ruffles potato chips dipped into sour cream. Then for dessert I’ll head on out to the drive-thru lane at Popeye’s for not 1…..not 2…….not even 3……but 4 of their scrumptious apple cinnamon pies.
August 3, 2026 at 9:52 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #113 thread – Monday, August 3 at New York Yankees #315242I think Graceffo has earned the right to replace Romero as second top dog coming out of the pen. Very refreshing seeing the offensive explosion sending the pinstripe fans home with frowns gracing their mugs. Loved seeing Jimmy Lee Crooks get off the proverbial schneid with a towering tater. There’s little question that we play better on the road than at home, so let’s sweep these bums.
Love this Ragsdale kid that we fleeced from Milwaukee. Our outfield situation just may have gone from rags(Walker not included) to riches with this acquisition.
August 2, 2026 at 6:14 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #112 thread – Sunday, August 2 at Toronto Blue Jays #314982Just finished din-din at the Del-Bar and in celebration of our victory today, am getting ready to embark on the 15 minute drive due south to the Dells area casin , where I’ll be plopping down 25 clams a spin on Huff & Even More Puff. Wish me luck, as one needs tons of it to come away a winner in that game.
I’m anxiously awaiting some St. Louis trades. I know it’s not likely, but I have a gut feeling that Bernal is getting traded……hope I’m wrong.

We will see if Peoria can win today to keep it that way(all full season teams .500 or better).
And win they did, Albert. 3-2 despite being outhit 11-3. Boutros Boutros Galle on in relief to scoop up the “W” and the bottom 3 in the lineup each registering rbi hits in a 3 run Peoria 5th.
August 2, 2026 at 10:40 am in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #112 thread – Sunday, August 2 at Toronto Blue Jays #314923Circumstances are extremely ripe for Libby tossing a real decent game today. But one nice effort is doing nothing to change my opinion of him. He’s been a major disappointment. But on this sunny Sunday afternoon in Toronto in the midst of the dog-days of summer, he’ll pitch a nice ballgame. I’m loading up on the Cardinals with my bookie today, so when I load up, that should be everyone’s cue to break open their piggy banks and plop down some coinage on our Birds…….after all, over the years, when have I ever lead you astray on these sort of things?
Din-din today will be yet another trip on up to the beautiful Wisconsin Dells to dine at the Del-Bar.
August 1, 2026 at 12:48 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #111 thread – Saturday, August 1 at Toronto Blue Jays #314794Have a wedding to attend shortly and hate missing Quinny’s maiden ML start. I came THIS close to sending my daughter in my place, but this one promises to have tons of beautiful fair maidens prancing about, so I’m opting to attend. Not sure what my din-din there will consist of, but I’m sure it’ll be a smorgasbord of goodies like Rat din-dins on at his two Amash eateries.
I’m calling this one 5-3 Cards with Matthews spinning 5 2/3 innings of 5 hit baseball and Walker getting off the proverbial post HRD (that’s “Home Run Derby” to the layman) schneid by launching a majestic 2 run dinger high up into the center field rafters.
When Baez homers……he homers! It won’t be long when Raniel’s homers are majestic too.
July 30, 2026 at 4:20 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #109 thread – Thursday, July 30 vs. Chicago Cubs #314602Gassy saddled with his first ML loss. Most likely it probably won’t be his last. On to Canada to take on the Jays.
July 30, 2026 at 4:18 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #109 thread – Thursday, July 30 vs. Chicago Cubs #314601Don’t you wish Crooks wasn’t a catcher, so we could say “Crooks really robbed him” every now and then?
July 30, 2026 at 4:12 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #109 thread – Thursday, July 30 vs. Chicago Cubs #314599Come on gents, just score 3 in the 10th like last night and we once again make a winner out of Gassy. 3-0 sure would look dandy on Gassy’s ML resume.
Shoot! It’s not Thornton, but Webb pitching the 10th. Our odds of victory just went from 93% had it been Thornton, to 32% with Webb.
July 30, 2026 at 4:08 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #109 thread – Thursday, July 30 vs. Chicago Cubs #314596If they trot Thornton out there again in the 10th then we have a chance…….even if we’re down 3 or 4. As it sits now, the cubbies have plated 2 here in the 10th on a couple doubles down the line in right…..2 outs with one out. Hold them here and we’re only one swing away from tying it up.

July 30, 2026 at 4:01 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #109 thread – Thursday, July 30 vs. Chicago Cubs #314592It should not be lost on us that when Gassy makes an appearance, good things happen. Even if he allows 2 run homers, the baseball Gods will still bestow victories upon us…….watch what happens here.
July 30, 2026 at 3:57 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #109 thread – Thursday, July 30 vs. Chicago Cubs #314590The Ferminator has quite the eye black display on his face……he’s looking more like Arnold every day…….he just needs to start pumping iron a few hours a day.
