The Cardinals won the season series against the Cubs on Sunday winning 7 of the 13 games played. They’re 5-3 against the Reds to begin this final 5 game series against Cincinnati. The Redbirds have a winning W/L record against every NLC rival with the exception of the Brewers of whom the ’26 season against that team has been a veritable 2-8 disaster to this point. In any case, the ’26 edition has done reasonably well against NLC teams.

I’m glad to see Quinn is scheduled to pitch this one. It will be a tough assignment pitching in Cincinnati so hopefully he limits fly balls this game.

Since he is the 27th man he will go back down afterwards. I’m curious if the Sep callup spot is Mathews for the pitching side rather than a RP.

Taking a gander at the meteorological conditions in Cincinnati for this one yields positive atmospheric results. All clear at Crosley Field for Game One of this Monday DH.

Din-din today will be a couple of baked potatoes, some Allen’s Italian Green Beans, an ice cold slushy Mt. Dew, and a bowl of Turkey Hill Homemade Vanilla ice cream for dessert. Then a 7×50 Palma Real Presidente cigar to finish out the game on the couch with Whitey Herdog.

Hey Brian, on the other thread good job shaming Burly into manning up vs LHP. I couldn’t have done any better.

Wild man Mathews at it again. Dude isn’t making it through 4 at this rate.

Yeah 48 pitches through two innings is not good considering our staff has to navigate at least 18 innings today.

He’s overthrowing everything trying to pile up strikeouts to make a good impression. The Reds started off swinging at everything and have learned to watch it go by for a ball.

Might be a good idea to score some more runs.

This game ain’t going to end 2-1.

Just now got home and tuned in and I see that the little whiz-kid has Schwarber leading off. That’s our tax dollars at work…

Nice unassisted play by Stanek to get off the mound and over to 1B in time to get the 3rd out.

With no room to move O’Riley O’Brien seals it shut for the W and another high pressure SV. That’s #31 on the season for the Bogsider from Derry…
