Does the Noot trade mean a Baez promotion is imminent?

I will miss Noot. Very curious if the package we got now is better than what we would have gotten if we waited till the offseason.

I’m waiting to see if Nootbaar was traded for Arenado . . .

Probably does mean Baez gets promoted, but not necessarily. I could see Torres playing there for another month.

Or at least long enough to preserve Baez’ rookie eligibility! Could mean Cho to AAA?

Yeah I think they will wait a couple of weeks before bring Baez up.

We could see VS2 coming back up until then.

Could be Saggese recalled. He could also play LF. Or I guess it could be Victor Scott returning, but that doesn’t make a lot of sense. His offense still needs fixing. So probably Baez in LF.

We currently have 24 on the active roster so 2 players will need to be added, one pitcher and one position player.

Hence still needs to be moved.

Probably Josh Baez plus Hunter Dobbins. Saggese and Fernandez are the alternative options.

No more trades after Noot according to Jeff Jones.

I guess we got Caleb Ferguson from the Reds for International money.

Ferguson will fill one of the two vacant active roster spots. Will still need to call up a position player from Memphis.

I guess Ferguson will take Jo Jo’s place in the pen. He is a rental so technically we were buyers! Ha!

So it looks like O’Brien, Burly, Herrera, Crooks, and Stanek are staying for now. Well Stanek for two more months.

Those others are staying. Stanek could be a DFA candidate if we have an arm we’d like to try in his place who needs a roster spot to retain them (Hancel Rincon or Cade Winquest maybe?).

In other words folks……what we got for May/Romero and Nootbaar was pretty much nothing.

More prospects – PROSPECTS – that will more than likely never really amount to anything. Most prospects don’t. Sometimes they turn out to be fair players but that’s about it. If they were projected to be outstanding big leaguers they would never have been traded in the first place.

Like I keep saying…….free agency is our only hope to be in contention in 27 or 28. And in the meantime we will wait for these prospects to develop. Good luck with that.

Sando Santana should have some pretty good walk to the mound music when he makes it to the Majors.

There is unlikely to be a 2027 and I will take prospects for players that would not be contributing in 2028.

We have to do both well Rats. First we need to build a strong foundation and then buy talent to supplement it. We aren’t close enough yet. Compare our team to the Dodgers position by position. Are we better than them with any single player on our 26-man roster? Almost certainly Wetherholt over Edmans at 2B. Maybe Walker over Kyle Tucker based on recent results. That’s it. They would have 24 to 25 better players in a head-to-head matchup. Even the Cubs probably have a 20 to 6 advantage.

We have to build the base first. These prospects have a chance to improve that future or become traded for proven MLB talent when the time is right.

I was definitely jumping the gun suggesting a Cho promotion. I think Saggese has been hitting better, so he’d make some sense as a callup.

I take the Ferguson signing to be a signal they don’t think Mautz is ready for an MLB bullpen yet and could use a couple months.

I don’t have a good sense of the arms for the Nootbaar trade yet, but Kyle seems happy. One rumor is that there is another player in this trade, but didn’t signal which team would send the player.

Be interessting what Kyle and Brian say about the new guys Wednesday tomorrow morning. Suspect they will talk about Rodrigues as well. Would like to know why they stopped playing Luna and Rojas in the Dominican. They were both killing it. Possible cameo in Palm Beach next month and getting ready to bring stateside with visas culture and language etc?

Love this Ragsdale kid that we fleeced from Milwaukee. Our outfield situation just may have gone from rags(Walker not included) to riches with this acquisition.

It’s supposed to be a PTBNL coming to us. But that could have conditions on it like be based on how healthy Nootbaar is.

I also don’t know much about the 2 DBacks pitchers. I’m learning more now!

Is name of third player from the Diamondbacks available. Checked the other 4 guys and looks like Bloom is once again going for upside potnential.

The Frias kid is very interesting. Little experience, 18 years old according to BB Encyclopedia. Very impressive numbers but all at the lowest levels

Eagen is a pretty good prospect. Mlb has him ranked much higher (5) than the 13 that the athletic has. He just upped the odds one of the pitching prospects in the system hits.

Eagan has been answering the bell all year in the AA rotation and has no published injury history, pro or prior. Mo liked getting more potential upside by taking injury risk along with it. Maybe Chaim is willing to accept less potential and not take on the injury risk. We will see how it goes, but if a guy can stay on the mound you have something to work with, and if he can’t you don’t.
