1:15 p.m.
RHP Kyle Leahy (8-4, 3.45) vs. RHP Zack Wheeler (10-3, 2.69)
Cards.TV // KMOX // WIJRThis could be a low-scoring game.
August 12, 2026 at 1:17 pm #315961OK, I just downed a din-din of pork tenderloin with gravy, mashed potatoes and snap beans. A slice of lemon cake finished it off. So now let us whip up on some Phillies. Rah Cardinals!

cardsfan64ParticipantWheeler strikes out the top of the order. Need to figure him out in the next few innings!

cardsfan64ParticipantGood guys pick up a run in the second via a fielding error and stolen base for Walker and a double by Church. Keep it going!

KeepComingBackParticipantGive GScottar credit. He called it with Leahy before the season started.
August 12, 2026 at 3:55 pm #315975Leahy and Pallante both are surprises, at least to me.
I am concerned that Crooks can’t hit much and Winn isn’t hitting much. Jordan also seems to be petering out. But other guys are heating back up and stepping up.
August 12, 2026 at 4:00 pm #315976Redbirds win this one 7-1.
On to Wrigley now.
Let’s hope we don’t get swept because the Cubs are on a roll right now.
August 12, 2026 at 4:06 pm #315977Correct Rat. The Cubs are definitely on a roll.
The Brewers are not. As we speak their lead over the Cubs is down to 4 games. No disrespect to May and Romero but the Brewers did not do enough at the deadline. They have lost momentum and are going to be in a dogfight to win the NLC.
Anyway, hopefully we can steal a game or two in Wrigley this weekend. Our only chance is that our top 4 guys in the lineup do major damage because the 5-9 guys in the lineup are very weak.
August 12, 2026 at 4:51 pm #315981The Redbirds are dead even at 5-5 against the Cubbies this season and took 2 of 3 from them during their most recent visit to Wrigley and that was before we replaced Nootbar with the hot hitting Prieto.,,Them Cubbies don’t frighten me.

ParticipantI dont see why we cant win if our pitching is like series. Though to be honest,i thought philly would be better. I dont think they have a shot. Prob better for them to sit the playoffs out.
August 12, 2026 at 6:17 pm #315987Laehy and Pallante are pitching like top of roitation staffers. Good series. Good to se even Gas-
fire-Lum get through a scoreless inning.August 12, 2026 at 6:32 pm #315988Memphis gets to hit against Jake Woodford tonight. I expect a lot of runs.
Never mind. Woodford just got taken out in the 3rd after allowing 4 singles.

August 12, 2026 at 8:30 pm #315996The Brewers lost again today and the Cubs are up 12-5 in their game. The Brewers lead is about to be 3 games. Milwaukee is about to go to LA this weekend while Cubs host the Cards. Who will be in first come Monday?

August 12, 2026 at 9:33 pm #316004Hate missing all of these games and game threads, as I’ve spent nearly the entire summer on Lake Michigan. Also miss my catfish fiddlers on Fridays. However, I’ve indulged in a few fish boils(whitefish) up in Door County. Speaking of catfish fiddlers, I’ve ate them from the mighty Mississippi River, Ohio River, Rock River and from fish farms, but hands down the best fiddlers are from the Wisconsin River…….they nearly melt in your mouth. For those of you whom are reluctant to try some catfish fiddlers, thinking that they are lowdown, scum sucking, bottom dwellers, you are absolutely correct……but properly prepared, there’s nothing quite like them……just ask Rat or Bling.
After some miserable outings, it’s refreshing to see Gassy get back on track with two nice performances. Gassy brings a lot to the table and should be a mainstay in our pen for many years to come. Anyway, this is the last summer that I’ll be jetting around the great State of Wisconsin instead of watching Cardinals baseball……..it’s time to settle down.
