Pugs out of action today as I’m in US Bank Stadium as we speak, getting ready to watch the Packers drill the Queens(Vikings). I’m calling it 27-20 Pack. Hope our Birds can get the job done vs the ChiSox.
I mean if the cubs were playing against the Russians, I would have to reluctantly side with the Rooskies.

And what another din-din for the ages Cardinal in France has in the hopper this evening. Honestly, Julia Child had nothing over Cardinal in France in the delicious cuisine department.
Beautiful meteorological report as always, Rat! You know, reading weather reports from Rat holds all of the excitement as the Cardinals having the bases loaded with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th in a tie ballgame vs our arch rivals.
If the Cardinals aren’t involved in post season play, I always root for the largest underdog. Also, going out to your local park to watch men’s fast pitch softball is pretty exciting to. I haven’t done this in years, but as a kid, when staying at my grandmother’s house along the banks of the Wisconsin River in Portage, Wisconsin, I spent many a night down at the fairgrounds watching these underhand fast pitch games…….and they were absolutely marvelous. Just thinking back to that location in that era, conjures up Field of Dreams like sentiments.
I don’t think we’ll see any 6 run 8th innings tonight like we witnessed Wednesday afternoon in San Francisco. I would imagine that Ollie and the boys learned their lesson and won’t take anything for granted……though I do wish Ollie would have saved Gassy for the late innings just in case.
Ivan Aaron Herrera has now been plunked 29 times this season. That figure though extremely elevated, doesn’t put him in Ron Hunt territory, but it’s still pretty darn high. I would think he leads the league in the HBP department, but am not sure since that stat is pretty much neglected…….which is a darn shame. Ivan doesn’t really crowd the plate, so he must purposely not go out of his way to avoid getting whacked below the neck…….which is pretty darn admirable.
Gassy has hair not unlike a young Jacqueline Smith from Charlie’s Angels fame. Luckily, Jacqueline didn’t have Gassy’s facial hair. A broken bat wounded duck little flair just out of Winn’s reach sets the stage for some trouble here in the 6th. But Gassy gets out of the jam. It’s almost like Gassy toys with these hitters just for kicks sometimes.
Gassy on to pitch the 6th in a 6-2 St. Louis ballgame. The White Sox will find the road to be very tough sledding vs the likes of Gassy.
Brewers shellshock Cincy 20-0. Kind of an oddity that after tonight’s play, the bottom 3 in the Milwaukee lineup are all hitting .263.
Congrats to your Wildcats squad, Rat. That 49-6 thumping over Bosse was almost on par with the Brew Crew’s 20-0 bombardment.
If Rat screwed up on his Doppler radar charting and deciphering, I’d be in total shock. Rat simply doesn’t make meteorological blunders…..plain and simple! Anyone know what’s going on at the ol’ ballpark?

The home folk get their first glimpse of their catcher for the next 14 years. I think they will be very pleased with Leonardo. I just may have flip-flopped Saggese and Fermin in the batting order tonight. Looks like Kay will be dealing for Chicago tonight……and I’m okay with that.
Tough game tonight for your boys vs Evansville Bosse, Rat. Even though Bosse is off to an 0-3 start, Bosse will be the boss vs Rat’s Wildcats. Coach Hawkins will have his Bulldogs squad hitting on all cylinders. Let’s call it 33-17 Bosse over Jasper’s floundering Wildcats shall we.
In St. Louis, we’re in for a tough series vs those upstart White Sox from Chicago’s south side. Would love to see us get off the 3 game schneid, but something tells me that ChiSox batters are going to love what Libby is dishing up.
And for din-din, I’ll be following Rat’s lead by gulping down a heaping plate of scrumptdillyishish catfish fiddlers. Accompanying the delicious main entry will be hush puppies, cole slaw and for dessert I’ll be swinging on through Popeye’s drive thru lane to snag myself 3 glorious apple cinnamon pies.
Why Ollie didn’t save Gassy for possible late inning relief is perplexing. Instead he burned Gassy in the 7th and utilized the likes of Winquest and Soriano for the final 2 innings. Why not trot Winquest or Soriano out for the 7th and then if trouble ensued bring in our most effective reliever over the last month(Gassy)? Ollie has done a lot of good things for this club, but sometimes he makes obviously poor decisions.
This loss was on Ollie and Winquest…..and add “Sorry” Soriano’s sorry performance to that mix as well.
Winquest getting yanked. Hard to believe that we are one mighty swing away from this game being knotted up at 6.
It literally never is easy with our beloved 2026 feisty squad. Bases bubbling over with Giants and 2 outs, with Winquest swaying back and forth on the ropes……come on kid ……now a base hit will plate 2…..ouch!
Looking out over the bay, I’ve always had a desire to swim out to Alcatraz. Too old for that now, but there’s a local aquatic group in the bay area that has swimming events out that way. One of it’s female organizers was killed by a great white earlier this year.
Bernal hit that off the end of his bat and it still carried out near the right-center track…….we have a legit bopper here, gang.
I remember my first year (2006) on this site (then named “The Birdhouse”) and during game threads there would be like 50 posters following the action. It was kind of neat because it listed the names of posters that were on board at the bottom of the screen. You also had a PM box so that you could privately communicate with fellow posters if so desired. I miss those features.
