I totally respect Rat’s meteorological reports, so I’m heading right on down to the basement sports cave to NOT watch the ballgame, but rather Season 1 of Pawn Stars. Appreciate what you do for us, ER (Esteemed Rat)!
And now a chance for a Milwaukee team to claim their first championship since before Vince Lombardi took over as coach of the Packers.
Let us not forget the two championships that the Lew Alcindor and then 40 years later, the Giannis led Bucks squads brought to Milwaukee, BicycleMike.
I’m sure Pugs can attest to the fervor at which those who are from Wisconsin support their teams.
Both Milwaukee and Cleveland fans go absolutely crazy when their teams are excelling, Jnevel. Milwaukee fans are generally pretty civil, but Cleveland fans can get pretty nasty when their team is playing either the Yankees or Steelers, as they passionately detest both. The Brewers are presently the talk of the town. You can’t walk into any store without hearing conversations about the team. The championship is in the bag. It makes no difference whatsoever who emerges from the AL…….the Brewers have this.
One can learn so much more than just the odds and ends of baseball here at The Cardinal Nation. Thanks to the esteemed Mud for sharing some of the idiosyncrasies of the sting ray species. Having lived several years of my youth in both the fair cities of Milwaukee and Cleveland, I’m rooting like heck for the Brewers and Indians to be playing in the Fall Classic. My stepfather was in the banking business and when I was 13 and living in Milwaukee (Whitefish Bay), he spent months traveling to different cities concerning his work. It came down to one of three cities in which h we would be moving to…….New Orleans, St. Louis or Cleveland. Obviously I was praying for St. Louis. Well to my dismay it ended up being Cleveland. And to my surprise, Cleveland was a wonderful place to live.

The above 4 words from Bobby Reed’s lips sealed it for me. I’m going with SADS (that’s “Sebastian Alessandro Dos Santos” to the layman) as St. Louis Cardinals #6 Top Prospect. A couple notes that Bobby did not mention is that this kid simply doesn’t ground into DP’s. And he’s brave. It doesn’t appear that he’s adverse to getting plunked by 98 mph heaters. An oddity is that Sebastian, in his professional career, has yet to be issued an intentional free pass……..oh boy they’re coming for this future star.

Hunter Gaddis on to tame the ChiSox in the top of the 7th in a 2-0 Indians ballgame. I said it earlier this week, but it warrants repeating. I love what this Hunter Gaddis brings to the table. There’s 2 relievers I want our Cardinals to pursue this off season……Gaddis and Boozer……and as I say this Hunter mows them down 1-2-3 in succession, all via the K route. Anyway, having Gassy, Gaddis and Boozer as the core of the Cardinal bullpen nest egg would be pretty darn sweet.
I’ve seen Burley’s name bandied about in trade possibilities more than once since season’s end. Other than hitting from the left side and maybe not hitting for quite the lofty BA as Dante Bichette, Burly sure reminds me of him. Dante really didn’t kick it into gear until age 30, so Burly is blossoming a little sooner than the ex-Rockies great. Hopefully Burly stays put.
An extremely valid case could have been lodged for Leonardo “Tank” Bernal being recognized as our #2 top prospect. Leonardo’s name not being called at #3 borders the ridiculous. Since reading Liam Neeson Doyal had been bestowed with #3 honors and not “Tank”, I find myself shaking my head from side to side mumbing the words “do I really want to continue voting”?
They haven’t announced the time yet for Sunday’s Game 1 in Milwaukee, but it will most likely be an evening affair as they won’t want to compete with the bulk of the NFL slate and especially with the Packers-Bears game at high noon in GB. Hopefully it will start at 5pm. Since it’s a Sunday, if it starts at 7pm, I think I’ll wimp out and stay home. I’m praying this series has a Game 7.
Yep Rat, the young Cuban national, Andy Pages ( properly pronounced “An-dee Pah-hez”) with the decisive blow, a 7th inning blistering 2 run single to center to propel the defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers to the NLCS with a date with Milwaukee’s upstart Brewer squad. Should be a dandy of a series.
I honestly didn’t know if he was still alive but I’m glad to know that he is.
Ned is indeed not dead, Scotty. Now they we have so much information right at our fingertips, it’s fun to Google memorable characters from our past. I’m constantly doing it. Just last night I googled my older sister’s high school boyfriend from Whitefish Bay. I haven’t seen Bobby Greenfield in over 40 years. Looks like he’s now living near our AAA affiliate in Memphis. Anyway, we all used to get a kick watching his uncle Shecky when he was appearing on Johnny Carson’s The Tonight Show. Only we seasoned ones would remember him……Shecky Greene. Back to baseball.
I can’t wait to see their mascot.

When I googled “springbird”, it came back with “Spring Bird”…..a 14 acre wildlife sanctuary in the greater East Dundee and West Dundee, Illinois area. So then I googled “Springbirds” and then a plethora of articles popped up about the name change of our AA affiliate. I guess it’s not a big deal either way, but I still think the choice of “Springbirds” for a name of a baseball team is kinda lame.
We received a good taste of what Leonardo Bernal brings to the table in his short but stout cup of coffee with the big club late this season. And even better news is that he’s only going to get better. So my vote for the St. Louis Cardinals Top Prospect going into the 2027 campaign goes to none other than Leonardo Abdiel “Tank” Bernal. Thank you very mucho.
And we all anxiously await the esteemed TD’s(Tough Dominican’s) comments in the midst of these all important contests. I want to see both NL games go the decisive Game 5’s. Last weekend was a ball at Miller Park, so I definitely want to witness a third grudge match between these evenly matched squads. At the end of the day if push should come to shove, then The Miz should be the difference maker to send Milwaukee into the NLCS vs LA……though I would have loved seeing Atlanta beat the Dodgers.
Din-din tonight will be Stouffers chipped beef over 2 slices of white toast, cottage cheese and for dessert I think I’ll swing on through Popeye’s drive thru lane to snatch 3 of their scrumptious apple cinnamon pies. I went to the doctor yesterday and I though my blood pressure and what not was going to be through the roof, but to my great surprise check these stats out:

Wow never imagined the 3rd base coach sending Pratt on home on such a short fly to left……and Pratt scored with relative ease. I knew he was fast, but not that fast. Maybe it’s just my imagination, but there sure seems to more lightening fast white guys in sports these days than there used to be.
She sure can be at times, Willie. I think I mentioned this last week, that she’s in Hawaii. It’s pure par…..tay time around here with her gone for another week. You should see this joint…….dishes and pizza boxes laying around the kitchen, unmade bed, 2 empty Wild Turkey bottles and newspapers strewn about in the tv room. She’s a total neat freak…..nothing can be out of place. She would be totally aghast if she could see this place right now. I already have my daughter and her friend lined up to clean this place up a day prior to her return.
Funny you bring up Jimmy Ballgame, TD. The wifey recently was watching “Housewives of Orange County” reruns that were about 10 years old. Anyway Jimmy’s wife at the time was prominently featured and thus Jimmy had a fair amount of cameo appearances. I had my dear “Housewive of The Frozen Tundra” summon me to come watch anytime Jimmy was on.
