Funny Euro! You hate to be negative, especially on a night like this when you kind of luckily gain victory. But, Leone would head my list of 3 Cardinals, who under no circumstances, I would NOT want to see back with the club in 2020:
2. Dexter ( though I don’t hate his play any longer ).
Ha! Indeed Wooster….boy would I love to see side-by-side pics of AL in his prime and Jack Nicholson in his frenzied state in “The Shinning. They could be brothers. Matter of fact, Al may have stole some of Jack’s looks to use for his baseball gig.
Carlos notches the Save, but it certainly won’t go down as one of his glamorous ones. He starts off by fanning the first 2 hitters….and then as most of the Reds faithful were heading for thed turnstiles, he gives them reason to quickly scamper back to grab a seat. You know what I want? A closer with a chip on his shoulder….one who looks like Jack Nicholson in the aforementioned “The Shinning”…..yep, that’s exactly the look I want for my closer.
Thanks stlcard25! It’s been close, but no cigar for me the last two nights, as I had the Cards winning 8-3 yesterday and of course we won 7-4. But tomorrow is a new day and with it a chance for me to redeem myself.
Thanks Brian…..might see him tomorrow then, as Carlos has complete control of this baby ad Ervin now goes down on strikes. Oh oh…..Dietrich doubles to the wall in left, giving VanMeter a chance to extend things. What is it with all of these multiple capital letters in baseball players last names???? We didn’t have that jazz when I was a kid…..Henry AaRon, Mel sTottleMyer, Lou BrOck or Bob GiBSon just doesn’t look right….nor do these modern day funky last names. Oh oh, a walk sends LaVarnway to the dish with an opportunity for 9 rbi in this ballgame and a tie to boot. Get em Carlos! Lavarnway walks and that will load the bases to their full capacity and this is not funny in the least! Winkler shoots a bade hit to right that will plate 2 and suddenly it’s a 12-11 St. Louis ballgame and here comes Joey……this game is as scary as “The Shinning”…..I’ll be seeing the word “REDRUM” in my sleep if we lose this one. Votto lines out to Goldschmidt at 1st and the Redbirds clip the Redlegs 12-11!!
Carlos looking mighty spiffy as he K’s Scooter leading off the Redleg 9th.
Boy this O’Neill kid could blossom into an elite power hitter….flys out to Puig in foul turf in this at bat, but no way you trade this fellow at this early juncture in his career. Carlos time is upon us.
Love it…..once again Puig does not deliver with 2 outs and runners on….Miller whiffs him swinging in this at bat. 12-9 Birds going to the 9th.
Did Gallegos pitch last night? Love to see him in this ballgame…..he extinguished more fires that those guys in that “Backdraft” flic.
Votto, Suarez, Scooter and now this Lavarnway kid could spell trouble for NL Central contenders….which is everyone other than Pittsburgh.
And just like that Lavarnway makes it a 3 run game! Get him out of here!
This 5 run advantage certainly isn’t secure with Mr. Leone front and center in this ballgame.
Edmundo Sosa doesn’t look like he’ll get cheated on his swings very often.
Munoz looks very comfy out in right….much unlike his predecessor in this ballgame. No, he’s not going to win any GG’s at any of the 7 positions he can play, but he won’t embarrass you either. TLR would have loved this kid!
Not many leads are secure in this band box. Gant still dealing for the Good Guys , with Scooter leading things off for the Redlegs.
DeJong DePosits of 2 run monster way up into the rafters in left!! 12-7 Birds!!
How about we hit them with another 10 spot here in the 7th? Wonder when 10+ runs in consecutive innings last occured in MLB? That would be an excellent question for Skippy and our good friends over at the esteemed Elias Sports Bureau.
A 2 out empty base walk will put an abrupt end to Shreve’s evening….enter John Michael Gant.
Peraza – Strokes a liner into left for a solid base knock….Votto holding at 2nd.
Puig – Represents the tying run. Get em Gantster! Flys to right and Puig isn’t happy about it….sweet!
Just back from dinner….looks like it’s going to be a dandy finish. Waino amazingly off the “L” hook.
Will be having cheeseburgers on the grill, bar-b-q chips, banana cream pie, and a Mt. Dew for supper. Then a 7×50 Palma Real cigar.
No wonder you’ve been having dizzy spells, Esteemed Rat. I think you have had that same dinner like 6 times in the past 2 weeks. We need to get you a little lady to help spruce up your diet. We don’t want to lose you 25 years early, Rat.
I think Goldschmidt is going downtown tonight too…..maybe twice. I’m calling this one 11-10. Birds.
It looked to me like Shildt was calling the pitches from the dugout. Wieters kept looking over there.
Saw that too. Looked like Wieters was signaling to Shildt how he wanted the outfielders positioned.
Miller notches the save……7-4 Birds your fantastic final! My broom is a quarter way out of the closet…….a different closet than my half sister emerged from a good 20 years ago.
Gallegos doesn’t miss his spot very often…..hence the stellar 2019 campaign thus far. I would imagine he’s not shaking Wieters off very often either. I bet the combo of Yadi & Wieters get shook off fewer than any other catcher combo in the league….especially considering the youth of our staff. There has to be a stat for that …… where’s Bobby Reed when you need him?
Love the “schneid” reference, Euro!!
I trust Gallegos more than any other Cardinal pitchers…..presently.
