It takes courage and maybe a bit of craziness to actually enjoy getting whacked on various body parts by 95 mph hard objects. Ron may be urging Angels….not the ones from California, but rather up in heaven, to throw things at him as we speak.

Not probable, but if the Cards win 8 out if their next 10, Bloom is going to be in an unexpected predicament. Doing your best to succeed and never waving the white flag of surrender when there’s still hope are obviously preached by all professional teams. If the Cardinals are playing winning baseball and in serious contention for a playoff slot as the trading deadline draws near, how could the organization throw in the towel and send players packing. If Bloom had made one less off season trade and Sonny was still with us, I think we would quite possibly be looking to add another couple of ML ready pitchers instead of subtracting them.

Walker walks it off with the victory……stunning the Phillie faithful. Unbelievable clutch hitting by our star.

Schwarber looks like a 6th grader standing next to Walker…….let’s hope Kyle hits like one in the finals here.

Condom should be a perfect fit. I’ll have my full analysis of our draft when I have time to dive into matters after the weekend.

Some nice picks. I think Condom was a smart and safe selection.

Yowza……Trish is quite the dish as the APPLE post game interviewer. You could see Jimmy Lee Crooks doing all he could not to stare in a certain location……if he demonstrates that kind of discipline at the plate he’ll be fine.

Ballgane…..O’Brien smooth as silk in setting down the Braves 1-2-3 in the 9th for the 2-1 Cards triumph. We own these guys this year.

Dynamic and stone cold correct meteorological reports as always……you spoil us, Rat! I feasted on the Fiddlers for my din-din tonight. Two heaping plates of them with some hush puppies, deviled eggs and coleslaw. No dessert tonight, as I’m watching the ol’ waistline…….but I’m starting to weaken on that front as I hear the Breyer’s chocolate peanut butter ice cream beckoning me from the garage freezer.

Maybe it’s just me, but I’m kind of smitten with these APPLE games. Should be a good series with the Cardinals desperately seeking Susan……don’t know where that came from?…..with the Cards desperately looking to find a way to right the ship at home and the Braves looking to exact revenge for the recent spanking that this young Redbird squad dished out to them in their park recently. For whatever reason this St. Louis team is evolving into a pretty fair road team………and unfortunately a lousy home team. It could be that when they’re on the road the young players stick together much more than when they’re at home, resulting in greater camaraderie.

Gassy will be just fine. Don’t let this little one subpar inning fool you.

For those interested in such things, the CiF’s will be din-dining it this evening on cornmeal pancakes and bacon with LARGE DOSES OF BUTTER AND MAPLE SYRUP.

I think only about 98% of us are interested, Cardinal in France. Mass quantities of butter and syrup are a must for french toast and pancakes. One of my ex-wives would use no butter and just a slight hint of syrup on her pancakes. I have no idea how she gulped those pancakes down the hatch? Furthermore, she used no butter with king crab legs or lobster, while I immerse them in melted butter for a good 30 seconds before eating them. She was also absolutely horrified with my common practice of dipping my prime rib into melted butter. The two of us were not exactly a match made in heaven. My din-din tonight will be 2 Oscar Meyer all beef bologna sandwiches with a slice of Kraft cheese in the middle….one with yellow mustard and the other with Duke’s mayo. I’ll gobble down some sweet Gerkin pickles and Ruffles potato chips dipped into sour cream. And for dessert a pint of Breyer’s vanilla bean ice cream with gobs of Jiff peanut butter.

This is a toughie to predict. I wouldn’t put money on this game even if I had a gun put to my head. So expect a very very close game…….something along the lines of 5-4 Birds.

“Gassy” (Luis Enrique Gastelum) should have been brought up long ago, Bling. I think Gassy is here to stay and the closest he’ll ever get to Memphis again will be on our road trips to Atlanta.

I didn’t see a play-by-play of Rat’s weekly Wednesday din-din over at the Gasthof. Hopefully his El Presidente Real Deluxe Palma 7×50 cigar puffing hasn’t resulted in Rat being banned from the Gasthof premises.

It’s not often when you can lose the first 3 games in a series, but at its conclusion, still feel good. Take these next 2 and all is good. Our home record over the past few weeks has to be abysmal…….so much so that I’m afraid to look it up.

As a kid this was such a fun event. I never missed a game or even an inning. If the league and players don’t take the game seriously, then how in the heck do they expect us to? I haven’t watched a baseball all star game in it’s entirety for at least 15 years. The only event worth watching is the home run contest…….because the players actually want to win.

    A splash of Tabasco.

And you’ve now gave me a great idea, TD. Tobacco on hard boiled eggs sounds like a tremendous idea.

Still 1-0 Crew as we venture on to the bottom of the 4th. I figured this Milwaukee starter would have been gassed by now. ….hopefully soon.

It’s a wrap! We’re sellers. The players, coaches, management and fans have to be very proud of not only what was accomplished over the first half of the season, but also how they accomplished it. If they had not traded Sonny, a legitimate wild card run would definitely have been a possibility. Bloom has to be relieved…….about a few things. The future looks bright.

Din-din tonight was a chef salad, 3 hard boiled eggs drenched in salt and pepper and a trip on over to Popeye’s drive thru lane to snatch 3 tasty apple cinnamon pies.

It’s the preparation. Wouldn’t that be great if a pitcher could just do a few jumping jacks and then head to the hill to grab the baseball and go at it……you know, maybe that’s part of the problem with injuries and short performances. I bet Dizzy Dean and Bob Gibson didn’t conduct half of the preparations that modern pitchers endure.

All squared away. I had lost one of my credit cards. The new card Visa sent me must be a new number, leaving The Cardinal Nation high and dry. Sorry Brian.

    Not bad guesses, TD.

    – Starlin Castro for the 90’s and Luis Garcia of the Nats for the 2000’s.

Imperative that our boys triumph in this first of 5 vs the Crew. If May pitches like he did in his last game vs Milwaukee, we should be in good shape. They battered us around pretty good in our last series in Wisconsin. Time for payback.

    * Hey Brian, just noticed that you didn’t take out my subscription fee this year. Did I win some sort of contest that I can’t recall?

    Quick trivia:

    – I was the first player born in the 1990’s to hit a ML home run. Who am I?

We very could have a slew of Cardinals getting the nod in the 2027 All Star game. Unfortunately, I presently don’t see any pitchers on the radar for this coveted distinction. JJ, Burly, Walker, Winn, Herrera and even Church are viable candidates.
