Let’s see if Liberatore can match Hudson.

Z: Thanks for making my day with Who’s on first, the best comedy sketch ever done. I laugh just as hard every time.

I am wondering when – if ever – Goldschmidt is going to start hitting again?

He’s been terrible for several games now.

And both him and Arenado have seen their averages drop down into the .270s.

The last two evenings the Cubs have pulverized the Reds by a combined score of 36-15. If the Cubs get red hot and make the playoffs I am going to be sick.

Goldy last 30 games avg. .256 OBP .338 Slg. .393 not good. But if you only look at his last 7 games is really bad. .160 .250 .280

At only 3 games back in the NLC, they certainly have a chance, gscottar. I guessed over the winter that the Cubbies would win more games in ’23 than the Brewers, but no way would I have ever guessed they’d win more than the Cardinals and that the Reds would be in first place in August. At any rate, I wouldn’t be too awfully surprised if the Cubs outlasted both the Reds and Brewers and concluded the regular season atop the NLC.

Arenado gets the night off? I believe he has already had five (5) days off this year. And coupled with about a dozen other games where he did not start at 3rd but was the DH sort of makes me wonder why he is being given so much time off? Goldschmidt is in about the same boat.

    Why so much time off???

I say give both of them the rest of the season off. Why risk injury?

Seriously though, they both need to play only 3-4 games a week for the rest of 2023.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they want a good look at Motter. He’s cheap and so are they.

Oliver, if those numbers are disappointing to you, you will want to avoid seeing Goldy’s run value vs 4-seam fastballs this season.

The dip in production from the big guys makes one wonder if they’re just cruising the rest of the way.Goldy did cool off last year for quite a while bout this time last year too. Good time to work on some of our baby bird pitchers. Kinda replace the first 4 weeks of our season that went missing. It’ll sure make a difference in Sept! I’ll tell you that!

Doesn’t look at all like Liberatore provides any hope for fitting somewhere into a future 5 man. He’s always seemed to not only get touched up, but also get touched up in a hurry.

Is this Firmen with his .091 batting Ave the best we got in our minor league system?

I’m checking out the Cubs/Reds game on gameday and without even being able to see him work, Luke Weaver continues to be horrible.

Burleson looks pretty good with that LH’ed rip when he turns on one and taters up.

Cards trail 5-2 heading to the 9th. Looks like another loss. But with that AAAA lineup against Sonny Gray what did anybody expect?

Would be nice to sweep the Rockies.

Milwaukee pounding Pittsburgh 14-1 late in the game at County Stadium. Front Row Amy in attendance, dressed in blue.

Cubs lead the Reds 4-2 in the 6th at Wrigley.

Seattle at Anaheim just starting. Watubi pitching for the Angels so me and Whitey Herdog might have to tune in.

Burly’s swing is very typical of LH power hitters. Really generates a lot of power if he gets a pitch he can yank to right field

Motter had a chance to be the 9th inning walkoff hero but instead he’s a goat.

Yeah, he’s a big kid and carries a lot of weight for a 6-2 frame and when he transfers it and gets ahold of one he looks good doing it. The primary reason I have high hopes for Gorman is that he seems to generate most of his power to the handle of the bat from his hands and wrists. Several of the HR’s I’ve seen him hit have left the field from a rip that looked what could be described as a gentle one.

Most all great hitters fail from time to time…I’m nowhere near ready to throw in the towel on the legendary Manny Motter.

But before we get all lathered up over Burly, I’ll point out he has 7 homers in 217 ABs and Knizner has 8 homers in 134 ABs.
