Johnny and Toronto have a long history going all the way back to Rolen for Glaus in ’08 followed by Rasmus for an assortment in ’11. Someone in Toronto must have also told Johnny how good Brett Cecil was after which he was persuaded to sign the FA reliever over the winter of ’16 for $15.5M…Haha!
August 2, 2023 at 10:47 am #230379I will also be curious to find out how much cash we sent to Toronto in this trade.
August 2, 2023 at 11:01 am #230384That will almost certainly never be disclosed. The primary condition of the entire transaction was probably that it be conducted with cold cash in order to not leave any sort of paper trail…
August 2, 2023 at 11:19 am #230386I don’t think Jr will be needing to set up a Go fund Me to keep the lights on whatever cash it took to off DeJong.
Of more importance might be how much international pool money went out the door on one of the other trades, don’t remember which.
August 2, 2023 at 5:01 pm #230433The cash to Toronto will be disclosed. That is the only reason I follow Jon Heyman on Twitter or “X”, whatever it is called. He always comes up with the contract details.

MrperkinsParticipantI thought I read that we paid for the buy out for next year and half his salary for the remainder of this year
August 3, 2023 at 2:19 pm #230532I haven’t seen anything official on that yet. Just cash considerations.
August 3, 2023 at 2:54 pm #230537Flaherty pitching to DeJong both wearing birds on their caps. This round goes to Jack, he strikes him out.
August 3, 2023 at 3:02 pm #230539I’d say I’d love to see that hard fought pitcher/hitter battle, but if I did I’d be lying.

jj-cf-stlParticipantSTL paid half of the 3mil remaining on PDJ 2023 salary, and his 2mil buyout of option years.
TOR could exercise an option or two. PDJ is their player, their choice.
August 3, 2023 at 4:08 pm #230549Flaherty is dealing in his 1st start with Baltimore. At least into the 6th inning, that is.
And DeJong is now hitting .000 with Toronto so far.
