Brian, that is correct. Collins was in Genesis before his solo success.

August 9, 2025 at 10:41 am in reply to: St. Louis 2025 Game #117 thread – Friday, August 8 vs. Chicago Cubs #290046The first time I looked on Baseball Reference, his OPS since July 1 was .730. Yesterday’s game jumped that OPS 91 points to .821. That just goes to show how small sample size makes a difference.

August 2, 2025 at 9:26 am in reply to: St. Louis 2025 Game #112 thread – Saturday, August 2 at San Diego #289357jj, I hear you. I’m thinking about taking a break from here for about a month. I’ll watch the games but not read the thoughts.
The team trades a bunch of players whose contracts are expiring. Some posters think they didn’t get enough in return. Some posters think they should have traded more players. Some posters think they should have paid off some players with NTCs to go away. Some posters think the team should play better despite making these trades and needing to bring up players from the minors to fill the voids.
The only thing I know is that it will take some time to straighten this out unless a few players figure things out or management decides to buy some top shelf players. I don’t see them signing free agents so time, development and improvement is the answer.
Reports are that the Astros have reacquired Correa from the twins.
San Diego trading for Mason Miller and JP Sears.
I’m ok with losing an expiring contract for a good young hitter but not Burleson or Donovan. We need starting pitching next year and those 2 are the most likely to bring a young stud.
So what are the corresponding moves to the roster for Helsley and Matz, so far?
Donovan only goes for a stud, young, controllable pitcher.
Matz for Jordan looks like a good deal on paper.
If nothing else, Peoria just got better.
Dohm was placed at #15 on the Cardinals to 30 prospects by MLB.com
The players the Mets sent to SF in the Rogers trade have warts. Butto is out of options and may have been squeezed out of a spot with trades at the deadline. Gilbert would need a 40 man roster spot this year and there is some belief he will be a AAAA player. Tidwell is also a high risk pitcher. He needs to harness some control.
Duran has 2 years after this one that he is under control. That would require a bigger return.
I love reading how unproductive Cardinals players are. Then the same posters turn around and want to trade the most productive players on the team. Especially the ones who really have no replacement pushing them.
ZTR, a hitting line of .317/.431/.535/.966 8 HRs and a K rate just over 20% over 174 plate appearances since June 1 gets you promoted.
I believe that once he gets his confidence back with a successful swing and approach, he will hit around the 30 HR mark.
ATM, Hope and de Paula are 2 prospects of the Dodgers that I looked at as a return for some sort of trade.
If Gray pitches well for the Cardinals next year, I would pick up his option for 2027. It will effectively be $25 million since it would cost $5 million to not pick it up.
Considering Gray made only $10 million last year, I have no problem keeping him at $35 million next year.

July 28, 2025 at 7:53 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2025 Game #108 thread – Monday, July 28 vs. Miami Marlins #288693Edward Cabrera is a pitcher I would love to have on the Cardinals. Unfortunately, I think it would cost too much to acquire him.
