Game #2 of the Brewers and Cubs DH has been postponed.
Raining in Chicago.
Later tonight I’ll be watching the Reds and Angels from Anaheim.
August 18, 2025 at 7:24 pm #290860
jj-cf-stlParticipantDon’t let the excitement stop!
Have you noticed its been late and close a lot. More than I’d expect.
August 18, 2025 at 7:27 pm #290861Attendance looks remarkably similar to Busch.
August 18, 2025 at 7:37 pm #290862We take the lead on a gift run.
August 18, 2025 at 7:38 pm #290863
jj-cf-stlParticipantI hope our #5 batter doesn’t bunt again w/runners on.
August 18, 2025 at 7:44 pm #290864
jj-cf-stlParticipantBurly is carrying this lineup for months now, much like last season.
August 18, 2025 at 7:53 pm #290865
jj-cf-stlParticipantPages with Contreras type base running.
August 18, 2025 at 7:55 pm #290866At least Church is getting on base.
August 18, 2025 at 7:56 pm #290867JJ – Pages is leading them this month. He’s first or tied for first in doubles, home runs, runs, RBIs, batting average, on base percentage, and of course OPS. Trailing Burleson in triples by one though.
August 18, 2025 at 7:58 pm #290868
jj-cf-stlParticipantJoJo is collecting errors.
August 18, 2025 at 8:00 pm #290870
jj-cf-stlParticipantSo less is more with Pages? His PA’s are down too. Do those dots connect?
August 18, 2025 at 8:02 pm #290871Gorman is an error machine at third.
Maybe they should give Jordan Walker a chance there. Can’t be worse. (Sarcasm)Double play and ground out to get out of the inning unscathed.
August 18, 2025 at 8:03 pm #290872JJ – I actually think there’s a little bit to that. They’ve had a few more days off lately and Pozo has played just a touch more. I think Pages was a bit tired throughout the hot months of June and July when he was playing 5 or 6 out of every 7. But it’s also just because this is baseball and it’s unpredictable.
August 18, 2025 at 8:06 pm #290873
jj-cf-stlParticipantHes not catching 7 or 8 in a row any more. The babip is high (august), sure, but the HR’s are there. His best power half-month.
August 18, 2025 at 8:10 pm #290874
jj-cf-stlParticipantThe difference between Gorman and Tyler O’Neil, is Tyler’s mvp-8 season at age 26.
August 18, 2025 at 8:13 pm #290875I’m hoping Gorman can build up his trade value in the remainder of the season. If he becomes a great hitter elsewhere, I’m fine with that as long as we get a good return for him.
August 18, 2025 at 8:17 pm #290876Forsch – I agree. I think the team has to trade one of Burleson, Gorman, or Herrera. Three good bats who can only reliably play 1B. I guess they can try to get Herrera into LF over the offseason but I’m not real sure he’ll be any better than Burleson out there and I hate defensive liabilities.
August 18, 2025 at 8:29 pm #290879
jj-cf-stlParticipantOutlandish happens
August 18, 2025 at 9:02 pm #290886Yeah I agree one of Burl Gorman has to go. I’m not giving up on Herrera at C and you can call me out, but I’m sticking with it. There is a glut of DH type guys and especially the Burly / Gorman overlap of LH batters doesn’t make for a good roster construction. May as well use one of them as a trade chip with some other parts included for a pitcher this offseason.
August 18, 2025 at 9:03 pm #290887I haven’t been able to catch a game in a little bit. How has Nathan Church looked in his first 2 games? The box scores don’t look great, but I’m more curious about his approach at the plate and if he looks confident.
August 19, 2025 at 6:33 am #290891Albert – Church looks a bit overmatched by MLB pitching thus far. He’s swinging at quite a few pitches well out of the zone. With his fantastic hit tool, he still is making some contact, but that’s resulted in a lot of mid to weak ground balls. He’s looked fantastic in the field though, which was to be expected. I think it was last night where he made a pretty amazing running catch.
August 19, 2025 at 8:12 am #290900He just needs to out hit Scott, Noot or Walker.
August 19, 2025 at 10:15 am #290906
jj-cf-stlParticipantI’d be interested in where Pages is at in the box. It’s hard to tell from replays. Is he high in the box protecting for slider away on the front corner? His strike zone away is improving, by watching the pitch f/x. Less chasing.
