RHP Miles Mikolas (6-10, 5.04) vs. RHP Luis Severino (6-11, 4.82)
FanDuel // KMOXAugust 31, 2025 at 11:19 am #291649This series could break the record for lowest attendance in the last 30 years. We might see turnstile numbers under 15K.
September 2, 2025 at 3:31 pm #291733Mike, Stop with the negative crap.
September 2, 2025 at 4:09 pm #291734Tickets sold was 22K Sunday and Monday.

RF N. Church LSeptember 2, 2025 at 5:17 pm #291739The over/under on Crooks-Scott-Church combined homers tonight is 2. Call me crazy, but I’m almost tempted to take the over. No way our Cards get dealt another setback tonight to these upstart A’s. Let’s call it 9-5 Birds with Crooks throttling a tape measure shot far far into the upper reaches of the cheap seats.
And what’s on the din-din docket on this fine Tuesday evening one may inquire? It’s breakfast for din-din. Leading off are 3 medium poached eggs with melted butter over 2 pieces of white toast with salt and pepper gracing their top….in the 2 hole are beef sausages…..next up are fresh cut American fries…….in the clean-up slot sits 2 pieces of French toast drenched in buttered maple syrup and rounding out matters will be a steaming hot cup of Folger’s black silk coffee. Once again I’m refraining from heading on over to the drive-thru lane at Popeye’s for dessert, as ol’ Pugsaronias here is watching the waistline for a couple days.

ParticipantJust looking at our lineup.First 4 guys probably under 3 years pro. Second 5 guys even more recent. Will be dicey the rest of the way this year Just sayin’…
September 2, 2025 at 5:30 pm #291743Don’t know the attendance from Sunday, but that game was played across the river from Kentucky. The box from Labor Day’s game played in StL. claimed just a shade over 22.7K. However, that game was played on a holiday of which the weather couldn’t have been anymore conducive to enjoying a beautiful sunny afternoon at a ballpark with the family on a Labor Day weekend. And even though the box claimed over 22K, a close family member who attended Monday’s game told me his guess was that about 15K of the seats were actually occupied. In any case, I don’t expect more than 10K clicks of the turnstiles for tonight’s game against Connie and Charlie’s former empire.
September 2, 2025 at 6:08 pm #291747Ya gotta wonder why Gorman is batting cleanup?

Participant23 games to go, wonder what the odds are we win 82 games this year. Have to go 14-9. I dont really see it. I figured about between 70 and 75 before season so prob will outdo that. But we will see.

ParticipantWillie I believe the rest of our games now are against in conference oppents except for the West Giants. So as soon as we finish wuth the A’s I’m starting my own mental end if season tournament. 21 games I believe? Gonna see if we’re any better than the rest if our competition at this point. As in all sports we tend to play down to the level of our competition. I hope we may be better than we think we are!

jj-cf-stlParticipantGood to have Noot back.
September 2, 2025 at 7:57 pm #291760A’s are lucky to be still be ahead. The Cardinals are hitting the ball hard but they seem to always have an As player near enough to field it. Severino is making good pitches, though. Hitting the edges with some velocity and getting a couple of close calls.
September 2, 2025 at 7:59 pm #291761Mikolas gives them 6 innings with a low pitch count and down 1-0.
September 2, 2025 at 8:03 pm #291762May I point out that we haven’t scored any runs through five innings.
Anybody care to guess why?
September 2, 2025 at 8:06 pm #291763Herrera knows why…
September 2, 2025 at 8:10 pm #291764After I turn off the game, Herrera comes through with the home run to put the Cardinals up 2-1. It looks like I should have shut the game off a long time ago.
September 2, 2025 at 8:14 pm #291766We’ll Rat, you will be glad to know the Cardinals are currently ahead while only hitting .222 for the game.
September 2, 2025 at 8:21 pm #291767Crooks with a nice number for a catcher.
September 2, 2025 at 8:25 pm #291768I’m a little surprised that Vida Blue didn’t sneak into the HOF. He’s one of a select few pitchers to be awarded an MVP and a CYA in the same season. He also compiled a career W/L record and a W/L pct. that is very similar to that of Catfish Hunter to go along with a career ERA that is just 0.01 higher than Hunter’s. Although some would say that substance abuse issues had an impat, I’m pretty sure the overriding factor that kept him out of Cooperstown is a post-season W/L record of 1-5 to go along with a less than impressive 4.31 ERA in those games played for high stakes. You simply have to dial up your best when there’s a lot of money pushed to the middle of the table. At any rate, anyone who ever saw him work knows that he was a darn good LH’ed SP’er. And just the great baseball name, “Vida Blue” also carries a lot of weight…Haha!
September 2, 2025 at 8:32 pm #291769In regards to baseball names, how many teams can claim to have three great baseball names during the same era that were as classic and colorful as “Catfish Hunter” “Rollie Fingers” and “Vida Blue”? That has to be the proverbial Triple Crown of all time great baseball names…Haha!
September 2, 2025 at 8:34 pm #291770Yeah, Vida Blue hit the majors in a big way. He was a phenom, but his career did not age well. He was still good, but not like it looked like he would be after his rookie year. Another guy like that was Dwight Gooden. Looked like a sure fire Hall of Famer early on, but could not keep it going at anywhere near that level.
September 2, 2025 at 8:39 pm #291771As for Rats question of why we are not hitting, part of the answer is we have a quasi-AAA team right now. You have only one guy who could be considered a prime major leaguer, Willson Contreras. Otherwise it is Crooks, Church, Scott, and Fermin. Gorman has not developed like we hoped. Winn and Herrera look good. A far cry from the days of Pujols, Edmonds and Rolen, who also had Renteria, Sanders and Larry Walker in the lineup. Hall of Fame and very good players up and down the lineup.
September 2, 2025 at 8:41 pm #291772My kid brother and I always liked that A’s dynasty from back in the early 70’s. Our dad absolutely hated them and we used to get the biggest kick out of rooting for them in the WS while our old dad acted as though he was enduring immense suffering as the A’s burned thru the Reds, Mets and Dodgers in the WS. We had a lot of fun watching him act as though he were writhing in pain as that long haired, white shoed team won 3 in a row. He played it up for us two kids just to see us laugh and have fun. I sure did miss watching baseball with him after he said goodbye.
