Those teams in the 70s weren’t too good, but that didn’t stop me from going. But it didn’t require budgeting for the expense. It was pocket money that even a kid could afford. There was no sense of ‘is this product worth it’. Now, you really have to think about whether your recreation budget would be better spent elsewhere.
August 25, 2025 at 7:46 pm #291312Reynolds and Horwitz show the young RH’er what good Big League hitters do to Texas league mistakes.
August 25, 2025 at 7:46 pm #291313Is there even 10,000 in attendance tonight?
Yeah Bling you are right about the money.
Greed kills everything. When you have players making the kind of money they make it has to come from somewhere.
The TV money comes from all of us. All the costs of running advertising is simply added into the cost of the product in the shelf.
Sad and we are all guilty of participating. We are all part of the problem.
August 25, 2025 at 7:47 pm #291314I noticed that Church continues to put the ball in play. Got the sac fly RBI. How many times have we gotten a K from somebody instead.
August 25, 2025 at 7:48 pm #291315I’d say 5K to 7K tops.
August 25, 2025 at 7:54 pm #291316With Winn’s back and knee issues I don’t see him having a long career unfortunately. He’s too young to have all that stuff going on already.
Well you never know. Mickey Mantle had all sorts of knee and leg problems, but was such an incredible athlete he was able to carve out a Hall of Fame career. Winn is very athletic as well. That back issue is certainly concerning, but lets hope he can work through all of that as he is a guy we can build around.
Wow, that was a quick bottom of the fourth. We look like the softball team I played on this summer – seems like we would just get into the dugout, when we had to go back out.
August 25, 2025 at 8:08 pm #291317Winn will be very good until he’s not. I’d put money on a plus or minus 10 year career.
I don’t think his body is going to hold up beyond that.

Yes, we are at fault. Fans need representation and need to unify. Maybe something like the MLBFA (F=Fans)? On top of that, the product is downright boring. May and June have become my favorite baseball months in recent years (NCAA).
Not exactly sure why, but previous droughts (e.g., 70s) didn’t cause me to lose so much interest. Maybe I’m getting too old to have patience and share my dwindling time for a rebuild, haha. Even if I trusted them to do it right…
It’s not just baseball though, I bought tickets to a couple rounds of US Open tennis later this week. Prices are crazy high compared to even 10-15 years ago.
August 25, 2025 at 8:20 pm #291319Gorman now up to .750 OPS. Cardinals take the lead 5-4.
August 25, 2025 at 8:25 pm #291320Saggese drives in Gorman to make it 6-4 Cardinals.
August 25, 2025 at 8:25 pm #291321I’m thinking of Wong, ZTR, who’s best season arguably could have been at age 24. He played for 11 years, but was effectively done at age 31. Athletes simply aren’t as strong, talented or durable as they were back in the 50’s and 60’s…

jj-cf-stlParticipantThe uptick in McG K’s is a plus. Tack on a few more.
August 25, 2025 at 8:36 pm #291323I roasted a 20 lb. ham while they were reviewing that call at 1B…
August 25, 2025 at 8:43 pm #291324A nice bounce back on the offensive side. Looked like Walker should have had that “dying quail”, but no go. Leahy airmails one to third, but Winn saves the day (for now).
August 25, 2025 at 8:45 pm #291325
jj-cf-stlParticipantBetter break out the K’s Leahy
August 25, 2025 at 8:51 pm #291326To get out of bases-loaded-no-out with only one run given up was fortunate. 6-5 after 6.5.

ParticipantSwitched cable companies. Bill isca little lower but better package, can see more games now. Not all but more. Burleson really seems to have picked his swing up since i last saw him. Contreras got ejected, ball was a strike so dont know his beef. Might get suspended for the extra stuff. Just stupid
August 25, 2025 at 9:00 pm #291328
jj-cf-stlParticipantIt’s something every game with him.
August 25, 2025 at 9:04 pm #291329Happy to hear you caught a break on the cable bill, Willie. I’ve always been of the mindset that every little bit helps. Moreso lately.
August 25, 2025 at 9:07 pm #291330JoJo and that little black poodle under his cap have combined to piece together a pretty good season. Let’s see if they can hold this 1 run lead.
August 25, 2025 at 9:09 pm #291331I count 5741 warm seats.
August 25, 2025 at 9:11 pm #2913321982 willie
ParticipantDescalzo earning his money tonight.
August 25, 2025 at 9:12 pm #291333Now we get the guy who runs the corner pub.
August 25, 2025 at 9:13 pm #291334He gets the GIDP to escape unscathed.
August 25, 2025 at 9:13 pm #291335
jj-cf-stlParticipantGood burgers too
