Those teams in the 70s weren’t too good, but that didn’t stop me from going. But it didn’t require budgeting for the expense. It was pocket money that even a kid could afford. There was no sense of ‘is this product worth it’. Now, you really have to think about whether your recreation budget would be better spent elsewhere.

Greed kills everything. When you have players making the kind of money they make it has to come from somewhere.
The TV money comes from all of us. All the costs of running advertising is simply added into the cost of the product in the shelf.

With Winn’s back and knee issues I don’t see him having a long career unfortunately. He’s too young to have all that stuff going on already.
Well you never know. Mickey Mantle had all sorts of knee and leg problems, but was such an incredible athlete he was able to carve out a Hall of Fame career. Winn is very athletic as well. That back issue is certainly concerning, but lets hope he can work through all of that as he is a guy we can build around.
Wow, that was a quick bottom of the fourth. We look like the softball team I played on this summer – seems like we would just get into the dugout, when we had to go back out.
Winn will be very good until he’s not. I’d put money on a plus or minus 10 year career.
I don’t think his body is going to hold up beyond that.

Yes, we are at fault. Fans need representation and need to unify. Maybe something like the MLBFA (F=Fans)? On top of that, the product is downright boring. May and June have become my favorite baseball months in recent years (NCAA).
Not exactly sure why, but previous droughts (e.g., 70s) didn’t cause me to lose so much interest. Maybe I’m getting too old to have patience and share my dwindling time for a rebuild, haha. Even if I trusted them to do it right…
It’s not just baseball though, I bought tickets to a couple rounds of US Open tennis later this week. Prices are crazy high compared to even 10-15 years ago.
I’m thinking of Wong, ZTR, who’s best season arguably could have been at age 24. He played for 11 years, but was effectively done at age 31. Athletes simply aren’t as strong, talented or durable as they were back in the 50’s and 60’s…
A nice bounce back on the offensive side. Looked like Walker should have had that “dying quail”, but no go. Leahy airmails one to third, but Winn saves the day (for now).
Switched cable companies. Bill isca little lower but better package, can see more games now. Not all but more. Burleson really seems to have picked his swing up since i last saw him. Contreras got ejected, ball was a strike so dont know his beef. Might get suspended for the extra stuff. Just stupid
Happy to hear you caught a break on the cable bill, Willie. I’ve always been of the mindset that every little bit helps. Moreso lately.
JoJo and that little black poodle under his cap have combined to piece together a pretty good season. Let’s see if they can hold this 1 run lead.
