Soft, cool rain is falling here today, making it an enjoyable afternoon, a break from those 100-plus days and perfect for squashing Reds.

Prospects are for a nice din-din of ice cold melon, mussels a la mariniere and french fries, ending with a bowl of Haagen-Dasz ice cream liberally sprinkled with fresh raspberries.

    Rah Cardinals!

    Nice CIF!

These Redlegs are a club on the up-swing. Hopefully Libby can keep the ball down as this ballpark is a hitter’s haven.

Not sure what the din-din fare will be here. Last night was fried chicken, mashed taters and gravy, tossed salad featuring mostly home grown vegetables, and fruit for dessert. Plain old boring water as the drink of choice, which is our beverage about 90% of the time.

    Nice din din CIF!

Din din for me today is a CCFF! That is, of course, a Cardinals Catfish Fiddlers Friday. After I go to the grocery I will be going to the Lakeview, the Amish restaurant out on the lake. Catfish Fiddlers, mashed potatoes, noodles, dressing, sweet iced tea, a piece of chocolate cake with white icing and some vanilla soft serve ice cream.

Reds will take at least two of the three this weekend. They might even sweep.

From our own (can we claim him yet?) Kyle Reis…gotta agree with this. We know what we are getting with Pages and Pozo. Let Mr Crooks eat.

Jimmy sounds like an antagonist character straight out of an episode of Dick Tracy.

Prieto and Crooks get the call up.

Burly and Pozo to the IL.

Good call 1TD! That name does sound like an old villain character, but the square jawed Tracy would undoubtedly corral him in the end.

And on the baseball side, congrats to Crooks and Prieto on seeing a dream come true. I hope both a get a chance to play a lot down the stretch. Might as well see what some of these youngsters do over the last month.

There is always a subset hyperventilating over the catcher prospect du jour, so I am happy for them.

If Prieto looks ML ready it will be an interesting addition to the mix looking forward. Bloom doesn’t have an investment in anyone on our ML roster, and I doubt he feels obligated to hang with guys we’ve been losing with. It could be an interesting winter and spring.

Herrera hits a solo home run in the top of the first. Liberatore gives up 2 in the bottom half. 2-1 Reds after 1 inning.

Saggesse’s doubles are adding up quickly.

I have often compared Saggese to Edman. It’s not a perfect comparison by any means as a hitter – but his style of play is similar.

I just now tuned in and my question would be, since when does a team that calls itself the Reds sport an all black uniform? I’m fully expecting one of their position players to break into a rousing rendition of, “Folsom Prison Blues”…

Whether or not it’s a reality, I can’t help but to notice that when the camera pans over to the home dugout it looks as though little Tito knows what the heck he’s doing.

That C on the Reds batting helmets looks like it could be a piece of trim that’s riveted onto a body panel of a ’61 Cadillac

Contreras and Gorman both look at strike 3 and take a slow stroll back to the visitors dugout. I can’t recall the last time I saw a Redbird hitter battle thru an AB in which he fought off multiple pitches to make a pitcher work and avoid being an easy out. And it’s seemingly the case all over the league.

Bat control isn’t a thing anymore TD.

Yeah, it sure isn’t, Bling, but you’d think that some of these hitters would place some importance on staying alive during an AB. I’ve also noticed that guesswork seems to be the fashionable trend. If they guess wrong they simply gaze at the pitch as it travels thru the zone and become another sad victim of the K. It’s a really bad look. What ever happened to simply seeing and reacting to what the pitcher decides to offer up?

Man those Reds uni’s are bad. And I don’t mean bad as in good, I mean bad as in BAD. Ugly shmugly as the lovey Lady Bike would say.

So we ended up hitting a local brew pub for din-din; burgers and beer. They had the CU-Georgia Tech game on so I have been watching that. Back home now and put our game on. Guessing Fernandez will blow it here and we will lose 7-6.

Oh wait, I see we have 7. Cool – maybe we can hang on and win 7-6.
