I’d say Mookie’s having a pretty nice night at the plate.
October 18, 2024 at 12:21 pm #269932Wow, that ALCS game three was an “instant classic” as they say. I watched the highlights on the MLB app and they had the Guardians’ announcer’s calls on the Noel and Fry homers, and I kind of got chills listening to it and seeing the fans go wild. Reminds me of last glory days for our club.
Hope the Guards can pull the upset, but the Yanks probably have too much firepower.
Clase was more dominant than Helsley in the regular season, but has had some hiccups here in the post.
If you put much stock on WAR for relievers, Clase was 4.5 bWAR and Helsley 3.0. That indicates Clase was half again as effective as our guy.
October 18, 2024 at 1:42 pm #269934And the dominance extends well past Clase. They have four pitchers working out of their BP who’ve worked over 65 IP’ed while sporting ERA’s at or under 1.92 for the ’24 regular season. I like to call them, “The Party’s Over” BP, but obviously Judge and Stanton placed an asterisk on that title in last night’s ALCS game 3.
October 18, 2024 at 1:48 pm #269935Yeah, a big part of the Guardians success was a shut down bullpen. They were kind of like the Royals that year they won it all.

jj-cf-stlParticipantClase faced 270 batters during the regular season, Helsley faced 266. Clase was much more efficient (IP).
October 18, 2024 at 5:52 pm #269946Good point, JJ. Ryan’s WHIP was 1.1 – pretty good. Clase’s was an unheard of .66!! The guy was simply lights out all year.
Plus as 1TD mentioned, they had other guys real good as well.
October 18, 2024 at 6:08 pm #269947After running a few errands I got home and tuned in to a 10-2 laugher.
October 18, 2024 at 6:14 pm #269948And as I key that in Pages connects for a 3 run tater to cut the Mets lead to 10-5 in the visitor half of the 5th. Still a tall order, but somewhat within reach for a pretty good Dodger team.
October 18, 2024 at 6:23 pm #269949Now Betts with a solo HR in the 6th to pull the Dodgers to within 4 runs. This game is now a contest and far from over.
October 18, 2024 at 7:38 pm #269954We are going to get at least two more games at Doyer Stadium this year.
My favorite place to watch a game.
October 18, 2024 at 7:48 pm #269955Maybe not, but what’s certain is that it’s not easy to overcome a 5 run inning.
October 18, 2024 at 8:38 pm #269959So far it’s a little closer in Cleveland with the Tribe trailing by a run.
October 18, 2024 at 9:17 pm #269960Stanton creates some serious seperation with the 3 run tater to make it 6-2 Yankeees.
October 18, 2024 at 10:10 pm #269961Boy, oh boy…The E-1 Das Boot allows the Tribe to tie it up.
October 18, 2024 at 10:20 pm #269962This game’s turned sloppy at a time when youleast want to see any oven mitts out there.
October 18, 2024 at 10:50 pm #269965Talk about a bad time to drop your watch…After being as near to flawless as a closer could be during the regular season, Clase is now 0-2 with an ERA of 10.29 in 7 IP’ed during the ’24 post-season.
October 19, 2024 at 4:07 am #269966Does one still refer to Cleveland as “the tribe?”
Shouldn’t it be “the jailers,” or “the screws?”
October 19, 2024 at 11:34 am #269982Injuns…
October 19, 2024 at 11:38 am #269985I thought the actual indians want the team’s name restored, or maybe that is the Washington football team.
October 19, 2024 at 12:02 pm #269987They are the Guardians. You know 21st Century and all of that.
Now if they come after my KC Chiefs I am going to be mad.
October 19, 2024 at 12:44 pm #269988Clase is now 0-2 with an ERA of 10.29 in 7 IP’ed during the ’24 post-season
La Kabra! Maybe Clase needs to use his GOAT glove again. It’s still a good descriptor for him, although he’s a evidently a different kind of goat in October than he was in July. Self-aggrandizing gone bad. Move over Pedro, the Yankees are Clase’s daddy, haha.
October 19, 2024 at 1:10 pm #269990I couldn’t count how many Cleveland fans I saw who were sporting the tried and true Indians hats and jerseys. I’m especially partial to that hat that features the Indian with the big toothy smile and the single feather protruding from his headband…He looks like he’s ready to attack General Custer at Little Big Horn…Haha!
October 19, 2024 at 6:01 pm #269991The Yankees will be trying to secure their first appearance in the WS since 2009 with a win at Cleveland tonight. The best I can tell that ties the longest Yankee drought without an AL Pennant in the team’s history. The last and only other time they went as long as 15 years without a WS appearance was from 1981 to 1996.
October 19, 2024 at 9:02 pm #269996Damn!
October 19, 2024 at 9:05 pm #269997Stanton with the 6th inning 2 out, 2 run tater ties it up at 2 apiece. He’s on a genuine rampage with 5 HR’s and 11 RBI’s in 9 games so far in this ’24 post-season.
