Haha!…Yeah, how’d you like that nice and easy controlled left-handed rip that big Freddie put on that Cortes fastball? It was as if he gently finessed the baseball into the stratosphere. It really is an artistic thing of beauty that deserves a special exhibit in a place like The Louvre…Haha! Will Clark had a similar rip to that of Big Freddie Freeman.
Lefties love that low inside fastball. They do such a good job of getting their arms extended, even on an inside pitch. Jr. is the textbook example. Shoulders back, arms whipping the bat.
Yeah, both Larry and Jr. had that smooth as satin rip, and if Jr. wouldn’t have suffered a string of injuries starting at about 30, he may have surpassed everyone in the tater column.
I thought it was the right move to IBB Betts and work to Freeman. Obviously what I thought makes no difference but, you aren’t going to find any bargains at the top of that Dodger line-up regardless of what side the hitter stands in from. I’m guessing it’s probably happened before, but I can’t recall any line-up that featured three consecutive former MVP’s. If I think I may have to face Ohtani, Betts and Freeman in order, I’m staying home where it’s safe…Haha!

There wasn’t much chance of striking either of them out. Ultra low strike out guys batting 2 and 3 after your get on base guy is just evil. That generates traffic ahead of the 4-5-6 hitters.
Well, with 2 outs I don’t think Cortes and the Yankees had any preference for a K. The right move may have been to work carefully to Betts with 1B open and see if he’d chase. If not, then work to Freeman. Once they IBB’d the bases jammed there’s nowhere to go with Freeman without forcing home the tying run, so you can’t really have any realistic hopes of having a hitter as good as Freddie biting on a pitch somewhere out of the zone. I’m guessing Cortes was thinking first pitch fastball to get ahead in the count. Big mistake…Haha!
Rodon works for the Yankees with Yamamoto taking a turn in game 2 for the Dodgers. I had forgotten that the Dodgers had handed the Japanese Admiral a 12 year deal worth over $320M. It’s my guess that Willie Jr. risks wetting the bedsheets every time he thinks about something so terrifying…Haha! In any case, I somewhat suspect Roberts may move Edman up in the order with the lefty taking the baseball for the Yankees. We’ll see what happens.
Well from what ive heard though i didnt get tp watch much, taking cole out was the first bad move. If he was going as strong as jeter and arod said he was, you leave him in.
You know the drill when they get close to the magic number, Willie. Cole was protecting a 1 run lead and was at 88 pitches thru 6 full. They go out and get these pitchers when they have a 1 hit shutout in the works. You can probably recall when the theory was that many, if not most, of the elite pitchers actually got stronger and sharper in the latter innings of a baseball game. You couldn’t pry the baseball out of most their hands with a tank bar.
I’m not sure I’d have placed him in the 5 slot behind his big brother Freddie at clean-up, but I expected Roberts to move Edman up in the order against the lefty Rodon. I’d have let Eddie leadoff the game with Ohtani, Betts and Freeman following up to push Edman across if he can reach and possibly pilfer a SB. Edman’s also manned up in CF tonight. I don’t at all like that move.
Is Edman trying to shame Mo into leaving a year early? The opening day boos last year might pale in comparison to what he will hear on opening day 2025.
Well, Soto made sure that lead didn’t hold up for long, but if you’re going to place one in his wheelhouse, do it with the bases empty…1-1.

And he’s on fire on a bigger stage than the last series that he snatched away the MVP award, GameCard. Something about baseball instincts…
