Kim is dealing with groin soreness, Shildt said. The training staff caught it early and Kim will start Thursday if he does well with his bullpen today. #STLCards https://t.co/5XwoGKgXOy

Dylan Carlson made a huge jump in BA's preseason Top 100 list today, making his debut as a Top 10 national prospect.
Matthew Liberatore and Nolan Gorman also check in at No. 42 and No. 55, respectively. #STLCards https://t.co/gssDO2WTYW

Good stuff here from Brian. This kind of content is why TCN is the most premier publication covering Cardinals’ prospects.
Nootbaar is a possible breakout candidate for 2020. Big left-handed hitter, who is very disciplined. He said last summer he was going to focus on launch angle this offseason to generate more power next season. Something to watch this coming season.
Good read on a former Cardinals player development staffer: https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/i-have-to-do-this-west-seattle-woman-helps-major-league-baseball-players-to-keep-their-eyes-on-the-ball/
I do not have any injury info on Shew, unfortunately. Like Brian said, getting that information can be a difficult task in the minor leagues. Front office personnel and coaches rarely comment on injuries. Players aren’t exactly encouraged to divulge that with the media, either.
As for Shew’s opening assignment, I understand the roster at Memphis on paper is full right now but that tends to work itself out in the spring with injuries. He may not be penciled into the rotation on Opening Day, but I see him as a swingman to start.
Good question regarding Moquete over Burgos. I actually had Burgos ranked ahead before we had our ranking mishap involving Nogowski and Moquete. We just had to adjust our rankings accordingly.
Hope that helps, CC!
I read in the BA chat with Kyle Glaser last week the Cardinals plan on using Ralston only in relief, so he should be on the fast-track next year.
For more on Ramirez, here is my story on him from a year ago when the Cardinals acquired him: https://thecardinalnation.com/ramirez-stakes-claim-among-cardinals-relief-prospects/
Cool to hear Danny Mac mention TCN and the work of Brian on the air today.
A full offseason of rest benefited Arozarena last year, who took a huge leap forward this season after playing both pro ball and winter ball since he signed with the Cardinals. In Carlson’s case, he has shown enough to break camp with the big league club next March.
The plan has changed for #STLCards top prospect Dylan Carlson, John Mozeliak tells me. He no longer will play in the Arizona Fall League, but instead will stay home in California and work on adding strength. Mo is OK with it, doesn't think he has anything more to prove this year.

For me, Mercado has the profile of a Kevin Pillar-type. Arozarena is a flashier version of Gerardo Parra. Arozarena doesn’t have plus power, but he will run into 10 or more homers with plus on-base ability. He can steal 15-20 bags and play solid defense wherever. He’s a spark-plug type.
Jim Beauchamp was the last #STLCards minor league player to have a 25-20 season. He slugged 31 homers and swiped 21 bags in 1963 when the Cardinals Double-A affiliate was in Tulsa.

After recording his 20th steal of 2019 last night, Dylan Carlson has accomplished a rare 25-20 season between @memphisredbirds and @Sgf_Cardinals.
He's the first #STLCards prospect to have at least 25 home runs and 20 stolen bases in a minor league season in 56 years.

Perez has 46 extra-base hits in 969 career minor league at-bats. Considering that, I wonder if it would be more beneficial for him to skip Palm Beach next year.
Chris Ellis is slated to start for Memphis on Monday.
#STLCards top prospect Dylan Carlson has been named the 2019 Texas League Player of the Year, becoming the first @Sgf_Cardinals to accomplish this honor since Oscar Taveras in 2012.

Peripherals aren’t everything. Woodford reminds me a lot of Brad Keller with the Royals, especially as he’s made the transformation from sinkerballer to exclusively using four-seams.
Austin Gomber has officially joined Double-A Springfield to make his next rehab start. Unsure of when he will pitch.
Tyler O'Neill's rehab has been shifted to Springfield. Jose Martinez also expected to rehab for Springfield, per reports. #STLCards

With Gorman expected to open at Double-A next season, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Montero move over to first base full-time, a move I think would also take pressure off his bat.
Austin Gomber has been activated off the injured list at Triple-A Memphis and sent to High-A Palm Beach. He will make his first start tonight since May 13. The lefty has been dealing with shoulder issues most of this season.
