John Gant seems to be in peak mid-season form.
And then he reverted to end season form – an inning too far.
Some of our utility and relief corp seems to have the poundage on them. Beefy may be a better description.
Hated to see a game lost that way. Kinda shot down the #99 guy who got us a go ahead dinger.
MM3 – That was the joke. I posted that comment when he imploded in the 6th inning and couldn’t finish the inning.
Hopefully with the quality 1-8 in the BP this year, they won’t be forced to run one or two guys into the ground like they did last year with Gant. He was way over worked in the first half and that showed that in the 2nd half. Hopefully he is rested and we get to see 1st half Gant all year long, we will be happy Cards fans if so.

Saw a story today on Fox that the Japanese are having discussions about whether to start their season in late March or not. Seems the training games have been playing to empty stadiums. Hope that the same problem does not crop up here but it will likely have to be addressed sooner or later as any large gathering of crowds in an area of unexplained virus popup will need to be addressed. Keep your fingers crossed.

Two Florida (on Tampa side) individuals confirmed with corona. One had traveled to Italy, but the other had not traveled — so community spread? Wife and I planning to go to Jupiter June 15-21, so I am watching closely.
Cabrera’s 1st inning line includes a BB and a hit, but he pitched better than that. Ump caused the BB, even with the awful camera angle, it was a strikeout.
Another hit for the 27-year-old (soon to be 28) Ravelo. He has a realistic chance of going north this time.
Cracked fingernail? I don’t think I’ve heard that one before. If he has to wait for his fingernail to grow out, that could take weeks.
Carp hasn’t produced at the plate, but there doesn’t seem to be any sort of issue with his back.
Quick highlights: Ravelo had a nice opposite field 2B, Carlson with a hard hit ball to 3B which caused an error and then he came around on Edman’s 2B. Carp flew out to left.
Andrew Miller is not going in after talking with the medical staff and coaches.

This is a pretty weak lineup for the Twins. I guess they didn’t want to make their big guns take the long bus ride over from Ft. Meyers.

Fowler looks healthy…he just isnt hitting…he undoubtedly will be the starter day one, but im not sure he will be given a month if Carlson keeps raking, not to mention Ravelo and Thomas…
Maybe Fowler is bored with ST. On second thought, maybe he’s just running out the string after the huge excitement in
Chicago when they won it all after over 100 years. Tough to ever duplicate that, so where’s the motivation?Oviedo is going to be one to watch this year, he’s a beast and his stuff is nasty! I compared him with Rondon a lot in 2019, simply due to their age, level and both having a legitimate chance to stick as solid MLB starters. Due to the numbers last year I would have said Rondon was a better prospect, but now (not because of ST numbers) after getting to watch them some I’ve changed my mind.
Rondon can still end up being a good 3/4/5 starter, but if his control stays in check, Oviedo could be a 1 or 2.
There is a lot to be excited about as far as SP’s going into the 2020’s. Gomber, Cabrera, Ponce, Oviedo and Rondon are all potentially very solid starters, not to mention JF for at least 4 more years and Hudson for 5.
Cecil actually didn’t look terrible and gave up 0 runs. He seemed tighter in his delivery than last time if that makes any sense.
