Couple injury updates on Gomber and Robinson this evening:

Breaking ball doesn’t have the same depth as last year. Fortunately, he still has enough pitchability to get by as a back-end starter.
Drew Sutton was the last player in the Texas League to accomplish a 20-20 season in the Texas League. He played for Corpus Christi in 2008. Alex Gordon also had a 20-20 season when the Royals were the Wichita Wranglers. That was in 2006.

Burgos with his first stateside home run today for GCL Cardinals. He has 10 homers overall this season.
Arozarena had an outstanding month, but the separator for me was run production. As Brian mentioned, Gonzalez had the upper-hand by a wide margin in that department. Donovan also had a dynamic month not to be overlooked.
Whitley is a sleeper. I had one scout tell me he is one of the most improved players in the Cardinals system this year. Velocity up to 96. Ditched a slider he used to use and now throws a curveball as his primary secondary offering. Also throws a changeup. Potential to be a major-league middle reliever, I’m told.
Matt Carpenter will continue his rehab assignment with Springfield on Friday. It appears he will be with the club until Tuesday.
On Gonzalez, he is a very good organizational player who may hit his way to the big-leagues like Xavier Scruggs, Jermaine Curtis, etc.
Regarding Mieses, his numbers at Memphis aren’t sustainable. Same with Capel, who went up and had similar success after struggling at Springfield. I talked to one scout about this, who said Mieses saw a steady diet of breaking balls when he saw him at Springfield and he had a lot of swing and miss and unproductive at-bats. The older pitchers at Triple-A and the big-leagues will challenge hitters with fastballs in hitters’ counts until they prove they can hit it. Capel and Mieses are decent fastball hitters but don’t have great ideas at the plate and haven’t shown the ability to adjust to secondary pitches.
stlcard25, Oviedo’s velocity (which has been all over the place in pro ball) has ticked up since he’s been with Springfield. I’ve seen him up to 98 this season. He also throws a slider, curveball and changeup. The curve and change flash plus potential, but never at the same time. He still has control problems, but if he throws enough strikes, he is an interesting #4-5 starter for me. I remember Mo saying in an interview he could see him pushing the big-leagues by next year, though I see 2021 as a more likely ETA.

The publication has Dylan Carlson as the Cardinals top prospect. Few others worth noting include Zack Thompson at No. 8, Junior Fernandez at No. 12, Julio Rodriguez at No. 15, Angel Rondon at No. 17, Edgar Gonzalez at No. 21, Tommy Parsons at No. 22 and Trejyn Fletcher at No. 23.
After a slow start at Palm Beach, Nolan Gorman is starting to hit his stride. The 19-year old is batting .440 (11-for-25) with six extra-base hits and 12 RBIs since July 11, bringing his average up to .267 overall in the FSL. #STLCards

I’d say injury-related. He was warming up per usual and even went out to throw his bullpen 20-25 minutes before the game before being scratched.
Quick update on Walsh and Gingery: Walsh has been sent to GCL Cards on a rehab assignment today. It appears he will start today. I have been told Gingery is close. The Cardinals have been extra cautious with him. Another name missing from action this season is Ian Oxnevad. He’s been on the 60-day IL since Opening Day, so my guess would be he sustained a significant injury in the spring.
That said, the cupboard is not completely bare with more reinforcements coming back from injury in addition to all the pitchers drafted this year.
