Cardsfan64, I wouldn’t expect a “top 100” type prospect, but a top 200 is definitely likely.
-Payroll on Cots is $98M
-Trade Jojo for best prospect offered (-4.26M)
-Overpay for Coulumbe ($4M?)
-Sign (overpay if needed) a reclamation SP on minors deal
-Have Noot, May, reclamation project SP and Coulumbe as July trade chipsThe rotation spots for 4/5/6 is sure something to watch.
Libby, May, McGreevy are locks I’d assume.
Leheay, Fitts, Dobbins, Mathews and sadly Pallante are all fighting for the last two spots.
Same with so many catcher options. I wouldn’t hate it if they just put Herrera in LF so he can play 150 games.
February 17, 2026 at 8:43 am in reply to: Right-handed hitting outfielder acquisitition thread #301103100% agree GreyGhost.
What would it take beyond Jojo to get him?
I am now at the point where just putting Ivan in LF might be the best option for his health, his stats and the Cardinals long term.
Is a 18hr/70rbi catcher/dh or a 30/100 LF more valuable, it is maybe a wash BUT with Crooks, Bernal and Rainiel moving up, it might just be best to “give him some runway” in LF.
February 15, 2026 at 3:36 pm in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2024-2026 #300998Still wishing for:
-They just over pay for Coulombe (trade chip at deadline)
-They sign Grichuk
-Start Walker in Memphis
-Trade Jojo for the best prospect offeredSure would make a better lineup if Victor could get on base at a .350 clip
February 13, 2026 at 10:54 am in reply to: Right-handed hitting outfielder acquisitition thread #300854Castellanos has baggage for bringing beer in the clubhouse, Carlos Martinez didn’t for vodka in water bottles?!?
I don’t want them to sign him after reading that story about Castellanos but good lord folks, CMart was hammered by the first pitch!
I’m with ya ZTR, still hoping they overpay for Coulume for a deadline trade candidate and move Jojo before ST is over.
I’m curious if Z Thompson is looking healthy, would definitely be a good LHRP option if he is healthy.
If they don’t lose 100+ that might be considered a win at this point, sadly true.
Just looking at MLB pipelines rankings this would be a heck of a top 6. All are ranked after the picks.
13 – Aj Gracia 55h/60o
32 – Blake Bowen 45/60
50 – Cole Koeninger SS/Pitcher
68 – Kade Lewis
72 – Cade Townsend
86 – Andrew WilliamsonObviously things will change in the spring/summer but that would be one heck of a draft as things stand on 2/11.
I was trying to think of a Dominican League signing that came straight to stateside leagues? I could not.
Would they in a million years bring Luna or de Leon to the FSL? I’d guess less than 1%
February 10, 2026 at 5:24 pm in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2024-2026 #300581I thought Granillo was a future back end guy, seems verylopsided
February 10, 2026 at 4:20 pm in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2024-2026 #300578Just saw the Granillo trade?!? What in the heck????
February 10, 2026 at 7:46 am in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2024-2026 #300550Lots of chatter about Castellanos, and they ship out a prospect. Having one veteran bat wouldn’t be awful, but would the Dewallet open up for $20m?
Teoscar, with control and team options, and can at least stand in the OF is my preference.
February 9, 2026 at 4:26 pm in reply to: Right-handed hitting outfielder acquisitition thread #300527Final touches for 2026 to maybe get to 81.1 wins….
– Overpay for one of Giolito, Quintana or Buehler
– WAY Overpay for Coulombe
– Overpay for a 2nd LHRP
– Sign Marte with a “must trade clause”
– Walker in Memphis till deadline
– Jojo, Obrien and Noot to LA for River Ryan and Teoscar
– Crooks to highest bidderPayroll still well under 2025.
February 9, 2026 at 7:55 am in reply to: Right-handed hitting outfielder acquisitition thread #300502I am with Bling on the Baez “not screwing him/it up” like they did with the half time show last night! That was 4 hours of wasted time!
February 4, 2026 at 2:32 pm in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2024-2026 #300322Great summarization!
Noot definitely needs to prove his health before getting anything even close to fair value.
If a team views Pallante as a #5-8 SP and will give up a lottery ticket, take it all day and twice on Sundays. SP ain’t cheap…. So it’s possible.
Jojo has had crickets it seems, I just hope a contender has LHRP/RP/Late Innings needs in ST or early in the season and willing to meet the asking price.Hopeful May stays healthy and needs to be traded to make room for Mathews.
Where can you find allotted values for picks? I’ve seen a few on here post that in past years. Has it been announced for 2026 even? Or where could I find 2025’s?
Hopefully Mathews gets to ST firing strikes! And can make the Cards at some point this year. Mautz is definitely a decent probability too which could open spots.
Because of giving up Contreras and Gray, I’d put a Buffalo nickel on Fitts and Dobbins (assuming health) to be in the 2026 SP rotation to start.
GScott, wasn’t meaning it’s a guarantee, just that spending smartly sure doesn’t hurt. Just hoping like we all are for Flag 12 in 2028! Or 12 in ‘28? (Can I trademark that?)
It’s hard to compare the Mets and Dodgers though because the Dodgers have been building a proper system for over a decade and the Mets just throw money around Willy Nilly.
$20M/year for Jorge Polanco is a prime example.
I’m scared to see what Winn is going to get in FA if that kid in ATL got $20, that’s why I’m a big proponent for extensions of Winn, Herrera, JJW and maybe even Burly.
January 31, 2026 at 7:19 am in reply to: Right-handed hitting outfielder acquisitition thread #300050They can surely find an extra $1M to get a deal with Andujar or Hayes done, trade bait if they really are on a 90-100 loss trajectory.
January 30, 2026 at 10:37 pm in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2024-2026 #300040What would those extensions look like?
If a guy was projected for X over 6, then divide by 6 aka equal amounts all 6, then 2 options with a buyout, that seems fair I just don’t know how one would project arb years 1-3.
January 30, 2026 at 3:42 pm in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2024-2026 #300032Shouldn’t that mean they should lock up some of the younger guys that are pieces of the long-term future? Winn, Herrera, JJW, maybe even Libby. Instead of ramping up contracts, start high and have it even out over the term so they have extra “dry powder” in 28-32 for example.
You can’t take it with ya Dewallet!
So extra housing and probably the same chef cooking double the meat and eggs, and extra coaches and staff with another 25-30 dudes signing at less than 50k is not cheap, but find one long shot/diamond in the rough that produces at least 2 WAR seems like a smart move.
It’s cold and gross here folks, so just thinking of how they can find/manufacture cheap talent.
Flags fly forever though
