Yes, that is what is in my roster article (and on this week’s podcast, too). That’s why I chose JJ for the lead photo.
One more fact on the weird disparity between hitters and pitchers added. The team is also getting back several injured pitchers who didn’t play at all last season like Thompson, Robberse, Naughton, King,Santos and the elusive Alec Willis!. We are bloated with pitching.

Maybe the 26′ pitching staff sets a record, using the highest number of pitchers in one season? Auditions rule the day!
I am pretty sure the Dodgers used over 40 pitchers last year. If you aren’t injured they don’t want you. I am surprised they haven’t asked the Cardinals about Roby, Hence, and Hjerpe.
We’re into February now. When is the rebuild going to start?
It started 2 years ago when they hired Bloom. They have now completely rebuilt their entire player development system. They are in the process of rebuilding their entire Florida complex. They have been trading most all of their final season vets and high priced vets for prospects for 2 1/2 seasons now. I’m not sure what you’re looking to see CiF. But the rebuild has been happening for some time now. They just haven’t called it that. If you’re waiting for a complete tear-down and build up from scratch, that was never going to happen with this owner.
The demolation phase is now complete. Bronze bust contracts are moved out and everyone remaining is a one year tender.
That’s a clean break from 1) Mo’s regime, and 2) having a budget that competes financially.

They are using this year for what I’d hoped they’d use last year for but Arenado wouldn’t leave and a couple others were still in StL.
Agree that the house cleaning is just about complete. Other than Donovan & Nootbar there really aren’t any other players that are on the block.
So, it’s now been discussed ad nauseum – last chance for romance for Walker & Gorman and some kids get their auditions.
24.9% of the clubs PA’s in 2025 by Contreras, Arenado and Donovan have been traded away. During their PA’s they logged a 114/158 bb/k.
Currently 71.7% of 2025 roster remains. Their 2025 bb/k was a 351/919. Our current “keepers” have the opportunity to improve their ratio, but any improvement will also be watered down by the 24.9% backfilling that exited thru trade.
Our position players bb/k next season will assuredly have a bb/k we could be proud of, if we applied it to our pitchers.
Bloom just tipped the scales this winter in favor of our rosters ability to pitch and defend, over scoring runs. I haven’t viewed us that way in awhile.
Trading Contreras, Arenado and Donovan weakened the lineup enough it’s hard to predict who bats cleanup. We do need 650 PA’s again from every lineup spot, and our 10man bench will play a lot.
The SP depth has improved and we just might improve on Fedde and Mikolas IP. Leahy may get his shot in the rotation and prove worthy. There’s no knockout closer but i do like the pen.

Burleson and Herrera, 3-4, or vice-versa?
I think Nootbaar slots into the leadoff or 2 spot when he gets back, so maybe Winn, Noot, Ivan the Terrible, Burly. Before that, maybe Gorman? When he’s on one of his benders he’ll probably be a good cleanup guy. When he’s not…ouch.

With Noot that lineup becomes a little below average. Without Noot, we have four potential black holes and a hope and a prayer that Wetherholt is 120 OPS+ or better in his rookie year. Long term I think JJ at leadoff will be the norm.
JJ profiles much better at leadoff than Winns pull heavy approach. IF, if, Winn would go back to an inside out swing, he’s a long term ideal #2 hit and run batter. Let the rabbits run. But…
JJ will be a better leadoff man, but I cannot imagine they’d open the season with him at leadoff. Rookies don’t usually get thrown into that fire right away.
Me either on JJ, which made the first 3 batters easy until Noot gets off my Sho-Me list.
The good news is, if a guy gets hot, Oli has to play him. Maybe cleanup! 😀Assuming Noot is on the roster I think they will go with:
1. Noot LF
2. Winn SS
3. Burly 1B
4. Herrera DH
5. Gorman 3B
6. Walker RF
7. Wetherholt 2B
8. Pages C
9. Scott CFWe know that Ollie loves to stagger the LH/RH hitters.
