Mautz issues have to do with the new ball perhaps?
What’s going on with Doyle? Not the 1 or 2 starter for any of the affiliates. I’ve been under a rock I guess…
Keeping Nelson Vazquez off the 26 man for Fermin still has me in shock! There are at least 4-5 guys I’d risk losing off the 40 man over screwing him over and diminishing any sliver of hope us fans had.
Hell, trade Fermin, Prieto or Raquet for a DSL guy……
1st horrible move by Bloom!
March 18, 2026 at 12:37 pm in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2024-2026 #302883ST25, so you’d rather have him for April of a lost season over having him for a whole year while they are in contention? Just making sure you are way off or don’t understand.
Takes two to Tango….. aka what if he doesn’t want an extension?
A year of JJ in 2032 is much much more valuable than POSSIBLY getting a pick in the 30’s.
March 18, 2026 at 4:56 am in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2024-2026 #302869In my post above, that was assuming Walker spending time in March- May at “the lab”. Also starting JJW in Memphis to gain an extra year of control. I know the Ol’ regime “didn’t play those games” , BUT the new one seems like they might have some common sense…..
2B – Bryan Torres OBP .360 after .441 in ‘25
SS – Winn
1B – Burly
DH – Herrera
3B – Gorman
LF – Nelly
RF – Jones
C – Pages/Pozo
CF – Church (Vic traded to Philly)That lineup along with our championship caliber bullpen and revamped starters could easily be in the playoff hunt.
March 18, 2026 at 4:31 am in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2024-2026 #302868The Yankees are “on the hunt” for SP help and a LHRP. They also have to many OFers after Bellinger came back. Different article, but they want a utility IF as well. It’s a heck of a good fit…..
Cardinals get Jason Dominguez or Spencer Jones (#6), I’d prefer Jones for the power.
Yankees get: Jojo, Fermin and Pallante to fill in until their big money guys get healthy.
And we get Packy!!
I was at 99% that JJ would be the opening day 2B a week ago, I’ve dropped that way down.
I’m in favor of him getting 100 AB’s in Memphis then come up when he has an extra year of team control at the end of April.
Walker starting in Memphis should be a no brainer, he has used up his prospect pedigree good faith.
Soriano and Velezquez were two great finds!
Any rumblings on extensions?
A friend and I were talking the other night and we both agreed, why don’t they do it after the season, for multiple reasons.
First it doesn’t screw up their spring training when they’re supposed to be getting ready for the actual baseball season and two they have to be somewhat out of shape and could really use the time preparing with their teams, trainers, etc.
Also, that way if they tweak/pull something or whatever it might be, then they’re not going to lose some actual major league time if they play after the season.C27, Velazquez? Might as well at least try and see if they can find lightning in a bottle.
It will probably be Church though. I’d prefer Torres leading off and getting the spot. Even take .070 off his 2025 OBP and he’d still be toward the top of the Cardinals from 2025.C27, don’t forget Packy! Or Thompson later on
March 9, 2026 at 12:51 am in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2024-2026 #302355I want Giolito and Coulumbe for one simple reason, possibility of adding more young talent at the trade deadline.
BDW already proved he was willing to spend extra to get Clarke, Fajardo, Fitts, Dobbins, etc.
I,for one, am happy about what Bloom has been able to accomplish so far. Jojo and Pallante should not be Cardinals on opening day though. Noot they are stuck with until he proves himself healthy or they will be getting pennies on the dollar.
There are plenty of IFers that can be OFers also. Saggesse, Torres, etc
I don’t have a clue why Torres doesn’t get more love?…. .441 obp
With so many young guys and catching prospects, getting Yadi fully on board should be one of the best moves they made.
That being said I still feel Crooks or Pages needs to be traded when another team has an injury and gets a bit desperate.I’d love to see “Winn, Wetherholt, Herrera all Sign Front-loaded Extensions”
I don’t understand how a guy who can play 2B, 3B and CF, and even be 3rd catcher, who had a .441 OBP and .905 OPS in Memphis get more love…..
Torres for Cards allstar in 2026!!
GScott, couldn’t agree more with the decluttering of the catching spot(s). The best value coming back and considering redundancy would be Crooks.
By the time the Cards are contending Bernal and maybe even RR will be ready.
2ndly, I’m hoping they just move Herrera to LF to “save” his health for the plate.February 28, 2026 at 2:35 pm in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2024-2026 #301927Those are the free agents AFTER 2027.
1) Winn
2) Urias/Torres 2B
3) Herrera DH
4) Burly 1B
5) Gorman 3B
6) Saggesse RF
7) Velazquez LF
8) Pages
9) Scott CFBench: Fermin, Pozo, Church, Torres
Memphis: JJ at 2B, Crooks at C and Walker with Baez in OF
Springfield: Unfortunately, for now, Bernal stays for everyday PTFebruary 27, 2026 at 4:03 pm in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2024-2026 #301854Coulumbe and Giolito should be in Jupiter….. 98M payroll is beyond pathetic, even for BDW. If they end up pitching well, good talent acquisition pieces. I don’t understand how they aren’t signed somewhere.
Several ERA’s took a pounding today, wow!
I still haven’t found a thing on Mathew’s?
Did Mathews get pulled from the game for being hit with a comebacker?
February 25, 2026 at 1:31 pm in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2024-2026 #301701Posting this because this is when I consider the contention window opening.

I’m definitely looking forward to seeing how the players mentioned in this post develop. It is definitely a make or break year for Gorman and maybe even Walker.
The trade chatter should be very entertaining as well.
February 23, 2026 at 10:20 am in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2024-2026 #301537JJ, playing devils advocate here, after Helsley dropped his value last year.
What if Jojo gets injured?
What if Jojo’s performance falls off?Take what they can get and then sign Coulumbe for less than Jojo’s money and end up with an extra lottery ticket at the deadline.
Acquiring as much talent as possible is the goal for 2026 and that plan does that. -
