Supposedly we are getting Cintje as one prospect. I hope we get more. Please end his switch pitching days.
I don’t want a switch pitcher. I just don’t feel like a prospect should not developed like that. Concentrating on one arm would make me feel more comfortable. History shows his chances of continuing switch pitch are unlikely.
Doesn’t Andruw Jones induction into the the Hall of Fame help Jim Edmonds’ chances eventually. Their numbers are virtually identical, except that Edmonds had 30 points higher career average. Both had similar homers, RBI’s, and 8 gold gloves. The only catch is that Edmonds would have to be elected by the veterans committee. Although they should reevaluate candidates that have not made it in.
Bottom line is if someone doesn’t blow us away with an offer I say we keep Donovan. His versatility, defense, and plate discipline are rare. I would like to have seen Wetherholt make the team of spring training, but maybe now you give him more time until May or June in Memphis. By that time, if Gorman is flailing, call him up. I hope Gorman takes this time to improve his game and holes in his swing. I’m now about ready to pencil in Donovan as our opening day second basemen. Let’s see what the trade deadline brings.
I think we should claim George Soriano from the Braves. Dfa Roycroft. Worse case scenario we Dfa Soriano after spring training. Then we would still keep him at Memphis unless he was claimed again.
I would be okay to see we add to Donovan with our surplus of lefty starting prospects, or a catching prospect not named Rodriguez to acquire a right handed outfielder or ace type prospect. You just have to find the right fit.
It’s nice to see Baez highly ranked by BA. I hope he turns out to be a solid MLB right fielder. We need so much outfield help.
FO and fans always seem to overvalue their prospects. I’ll give a couple examples. If Sloan were to be traded in the Donovan trade, the Cardinals are the ones taking the most risk. A pitcher in Class A is a long ways away from the majors, especially for a proven major leaguer. Back in the day I was hoping the Cards would getb Bobby Miller, maybe in an Edman deal. But his performance declined, and he had that shot to his head. I’m not saying there’s a chance we get Sloan.
I know we need outfield help, but with the Buchette signing, would the Red Sox part with Early or Tolle? Either would be a great major league ready arm. Our rotation would go from so so to pretty good.
Which free agent starters are still available that would take a 1 year deal?
Marquez and Gray come to mind.Verlander or Scherzer will probably be too expensive.

I am optimistic about the 2026 rotation, eventually. I just have a problem with the first few months. With McGreevy, Liberatore, May and Fitts the most likely candidates. Leahy could be # 5. Dobbins will likely miss 2 months. But by the time Dobbins returns the cavalry could charge in the scene in the form of Mathews, Henderson, or Mautz, if they pitch well at Memphis. But I would advocate getting another starter in a 1 year deal.
We get minor league pitcher Jack Martinez. He has never pitched in pro ball, after being drafted last year.
I wonder if we could throw in a prospect like Mautz, and get a decent prospect in return. Or do the Dbacks have an outfielder we could use?
Luna appears to have plus plus power potential. And signing for 3 mill, he takes up a chunk of their international pool money. I’m interested to see who they sign for 2026.
I don’t see Torres as a top 30 prospect. Of all the newish prospects we have added I don’t see a utility guy being rated higher than recent top draft picks or prospects we’ve traded for.
Torres is a decent outfielder, but Church is in the Siani range defensively. Church also has a plus arm. I also think he will hut way better than Siani. The jury is out if Torres will hit aT the MLB level.
I wonder where Robberse and Rajcic fit in to the Memphis pitching staff. Do they start? There are more candidates than slots. Mathew’s , Henderson, Mautz, possibly Hence, Rajcic, and Hanson. It would seem logical that Robberse is in the bullpen to begin 2026. It also seems possible Rincon might get an in season promotion. Rincon could be moved the bullpen as well. Hjerpe may also be a candidate. As always there is always an injury caveat.
