Counting on Carpenter,Fowler,Pham to repeat or rebound in 2018 in beyond dumb IMO.Carlos Martinez will always be a teaser who flashes great talent but pitches like he has a 10 cents brain. Wong is the same way…flashes great talent then boots a simple ground ball and then can’t stay on the field.I just don’t want to see a half hearted effort a fixing the team.Counting on 30 plus year old guys with injury problems is just asking for a repeat of this year. There is no guarantee going younger will work but hoping injured veterans on the decline won’t win anything.

    I would trade these players
    Fowler-other younger cheaper options available.
Pham-if I can get good value in return.
Piscotty-send him to West Coast for bullpen arm or a young prospect.
Carpenter- if this is going to rework /rebuild/rework then get younger.
Wong- he can’t stay on the field enough .
Carlos Martinez-if you can get good value for him.
Tuivailala- a lively arm who MM apparently doesn’t use enough
Greg Garcia,Mike Mayer’s,Valera,Wick,Bowman all can be complimentary parts in package trades.

Toronto wants more speed and athletic ability for their team.Trade Tommy Pham,Nick Martini for Donaldson.See if that interests Toronto. If not then add Gyorko if they put in a useable bullpen guy.

Do you really think MO and company would be willing to go 20 million a year ?

1.Get Fowler out of STlouis-Younger ,cheaper options in the system.
2.Trade Piscotty-he might walk more than Grichuk but Grichuk is a bigger threat to be a gamechanger .RG can be a solid 4th OF if need be.
3.Jose Martinez is a fine bat that has DH written all over him.See if someone is interested.
4.Check out Pham`s trade value while it is high.If you get a reasonable offer then take it.A repeat season is unlikely.Sell while value is highest.
5.A OF of Pham (if not traded)Bader,Grichuk,O`Neill and Sierra in STlouis with Jose Adolis Garcia and Martini in AAA getting more experience.

I must admit CariocaCards and others do bring up several good valid reasons why Miami might not trade Ozuna.Stanton is out of Cards comfort zone money-wise IMHO.Yelich is a fine player but he is NOT the MOTOB the Cards need.It might just come down to signing a Free Agent.I just don`t see giving Hosmer 20 mill a year.JD Martinez will get close to that.Moustakas could be in play but at what cost? 15 million a year or more?IMHO after MO and the FO strikeout on several trade options the team signs a Todd Frazier for 3B a a bit lower price because of him having a poor season.T. Frazier could be a FO facesaver for this offseason and then the FO can say we will go all in on the 2018 FA class which is supposed to be huge.

He aint crap until Cards see how his arm is.Why try him in a starters role right off when using him in a long relief role might be easier to slowly ease him into eventually being a starter in late 2018 or 2019.
Caution is the key word with him.Why chance it ?

Inconsistent pitching, hitting, fielding and sloppy baserunning all contributed to this season `s mess.

Just my opinion but these are guys who I think could be in play as trade targets for the Cards
Manuel Ozuna OF Miami-makes 3.5 mill this season and is arb eligible again. Having a big season 36 HRs 118 RBI .305 BA .371 OBP .542 slg.will get big raise in arbitration.Free agent after 2019 season

    Jose Abreu 1B White Sox 31 next season.makes 11.5 mill in 2018,makes 12.0 mill in 2019.
    33 HRs 102 RBI .307 BA
    .358 OBP. .561 slg.
WSox in major rebuild.A package of young players might work for WSox

    Brian Dozier 2B-3B Twins.makes 9.0 Million in 2018.FA after 2018 season30 years old.33 HRs 90 RBI .264 BA
    OBP .351. Slg .486

Players who could be possible targets for trade but I doubt Cards do businesAdam Jones OF Baltimore 32
    2018 salary 17.0 million
Mark Trumbo OF Baltimore 32 next season 2018 salary 12.5 2019 salary 13.5

Brandon Belt SF not a real MOTO bat who will get 16.0 million a year thru 2021.
Stanton- who wouldn’t like to see him in STLouis? No way MO and DeWitt take on that contract UNLESS Cards shed a bunch of payroll first
Donaldsen-ithink he stays in Toronto for a few more years
Yelich-fairly cheap till 2020 so I think he stays in Miami.
Justin Upton- he would be crazy to opt out of his 22.2 million dollar deal since its good until 2021.
Just some thoughts on possible trade targets. What say you guys?

Jones is got a little more swing and miss stuff than Woodford at the moment .Just a opinion.I think both will eventually be contributors in STLouis in a few years.

I really with the FO would get things straight with Molina and playing time with Kelly.I say a rested Molina is a good thing for the Cards plus it gives Kelly valuable experience and lets Kelly further his development. There are some who think Molina will stay at a high level and think he should play every day while saying they see no decline in his skills.I disagree and say he has lost mobility and agility behind the plate. He has had a good year offensively mostly and he is the teams leading hitter RISP .315.As for RISP/2 out he is .221 which ranks 7th among Cards regulars. His CS number are 34 % about average for the league.Kelly is a valuable asset who should be kept because father time could be kinocking on Yadi`s door next season. You never know.

If Jose Martinez had handled the ball cleanly getting it out of his glove then DeJong wouldnt have been rushed to try and make the play.Still was a rookie mistake but Joses inability to get the ball out of his glove was a contributing factor.

CC- maybe so.e team will take a chance on Wisdom as a RH bench bat and reserve. He is 26 and plays okay 3B.

I wonder about some other players on the roster that Matheny doesn’t seem to use as much in certain situations .Sam Tuivailala who has a big arm and could be included in a trade package to sweeten the pot.Brebbia who has done okay as a complimentary arm in the pen.Agree about Valera and Mejia.Like Mejia’s glove but too many higher ceiling guys need the spots.Martini misses out again in tight squeeze in OF.Patrick Wisdom probably gets claimed in Rule 5.
Voit might stick around for RH bench bar/spot starter. I think Grichuk,Piscotty,Jose Martinez,Aldemys Diaz all trade bait.
