1.The front office WAS dumb for giving him that much money.
2.Nobody said he should be dumped.IMO reducing his workload would do two things;keep him fresher and give experience to Kelly.
3.Kelly should be getting some playing time because of stated reasons above.
4.Molina is still good but he is NOT the Molina of a few years ago defensively.Other teams announcers ( former MLB players say ;Molina still a good catcher but not the great catcher he once was).Nobody says he stinks but you still can`t be the clock.

In my opinion ONeill is a better prospect than Mercado because he played at a higher league (AAA) and held his own at a younger age.Mercado is older and although he hit for higher average he still struckout over 100 times with much less power and RBIs in AA.He did steal 30 plus bases but ONeill stole 14 bases also and hit 31 HRS 95 RBIs.Mercado hit 13 HRs 46 RBIs. As for Jose Adolis Garcia he is older than both ONeill and Mercado and he certainly flashes some tools but lets see what he can do over a full season in AAA before annnoiting him for anything.

Pads you forget that Voit is 26 years old in AAA close to the age of many of the players he played against.ONeill is younger than most of the people he played against in AAA.zoNeill has better plate discipline than Grichuk and has some speed to go with a good arm and is the best power prospect in the system. So what`s not to like other than a infatuation for banjo bat slap hitter rabbits that many seem to favor.I think too many think Whiteyball is just suddenly going to start again.

CariocaCard says Wisdom is not a free agent. He is eligible for Rule V draft from what I read if the Cards don’t put him on the roster. If I have bad info someone please correct me.I think some team will take a flyervon him just because of his power potential and ability to play 3B.Say hello Philly or Angels or Mets.

Well horsehockey as Col. Potter used to say.If not bringing up Mayers then give his spot to someone else (Montgomery,O`Neill,Wisdom).Just wasting a spot IMO.

Yes I would Brian. O’Neill could be a potential starting OF in the near future.Montgomery deserves the same chance Mayer’s got.As for Sosa no big deal (see Kramer Robertson,Tommy Edman coming up through the system and Edman already in AAA).

Jager I respectfully disagree.I think you see a very good Molina and I see a good Molina who isn’t what he used to be.You say show you stats….I see what I see and I see a former great catcher who is declining and is now still a good catcher but NOT the Great catcher he once was.Look through your rose colored glasses all you want. What your choice.
What are you going to tell me next?Matt Carpenter is as good as he was a few years ago?Wainwright?

Mayer’s,Sosa,Mejia.Mayer’s because he has been pretty bad in most of his chances and I would chance him passing waivers.Sosa because he is a ways away from the Majors and Cards have other INF options coming up the system (Edman,Robertson).
Mejia- like his glove but he looks like Deal Maxvill lite .Using your options I would have to chance Lucas as a drop.

Several guys playing for Memphis looked good last night.Hudson had some good stuff when he was pitching.Lots of movement and break.Montgomery did okay also.Even Mayers looked okay.Garcia definately showed a good arm and accuracy but he wasn’t throwing from the warning track.Still a damn fine throw and nice to see.O’Neill looked good and played pretty good CF.Martini kind of disappointed.Durhams pitchers had many Redbirds beating the ball into the ground quite often.Too bad Cards FO isn’t giving O’Neill or Montgomery or Wisdom a callup to get some MLB experience.I know it would require some roster juggling but be proactive instead of running in place.

Redbirds hitters have hit 5 or 6 groundouts in a row.Killing worms like crazy the last couple of innings.Bunch of grasskillers. On a couple of balls hit hard..

O’Neill smoked a opposite field single and Valera ( I think) hit a hard groundout.

Seems about 90 % of your list are OFs.Few other position guys;Ravelo 1B,Valera inf,Wisdom 3B,Knizner C,Andy Young 3B-2B,Trosclair 1B,Mendoza 3B?Cards really need to have better luck developing more non-OF impact guys.

Yadi had a good year offensively but he is not the agile catcher he once was and his arm while still good can’t make up for the jumps runners get.Stat nerds or not if you can’t see his defensive regression on low pitches and his declining agility then you aren’t watching.Blindy playing Molina all the time is just stupid.Molina isn’t Dorian Gray and he doesn’t know where the fountain of youth is.
A well rested Molina could be more effective for the team .resting Molina and playing Kelly is a win-win situation .Plus Kelly has caught almost every young pitcher the Cards have so he knows them well.Yadier has been a All-star and was the top catcher in Baseball for several years but he is not that player anymore. He’s still good but you can`t fool father time.

O’Neill walks at a higher rate than Grichuk.Dismissing O’Neill is nonsense.Remember that he is one of the younger players in the league also.Calling him RG II is the lazy way out.

I am all for moving Carpenter,Fowler, Piscotty and Pham.If I had my way I would have a talk with Molina and say you are going to play 110-120 games and Carson Kelly will start the rest because .The reason being a well rested Molina is better for the team and gradually let’s Kelly get playing time because he is the future. If Molina can’t agree to this scenario then ask him which other teams he might like to play for and ship him there. As for Wainwright does he have anything left in the tank?I hope I am wrong but I doubt he will ever be a effective reliable starter again.Would he be able to fill a long spot in the pen or would he retire gracefully? If you are going to go younger then do it.

Bader #5.position guy usually gets my pick if its close between the two.I think a guy who plays most every day can have more effect on a game than a guy who pitches once every 5 or 6th day.

Still think Jay Bruce OF would be a prime target for a big bat.He recently said he wants to stay in Cleveland but maybe money talks.I think Hosmer stays in KC since he is a priority with KC.I think Moustakas stays also.hat leaves JD Martinez,Todd Frazier, mark Reynolds,Lucas Duda,Logan Morrison,Yonder Alonso as hitters .Duda -Matt Adams version 2.Mark Reynolds-been here before.Yonder Alonso-good 1st half, not much 2nd half.Logan Morrison-career year in free agency walk year, caution flag up,seems i read somewhere Morrison is nota positive influence in the clubhouse and is rarely welcomed back.So that leaves D Martinez and Todd Frazier-Frazier having poor season but still has okay OBP and power and can play 3B-1B.Might be a little cheaper because of down season and turning 32.I think Jay Bruce,Mike Moustakas,JD Martinez should be big targets for the Cards with Todd Frazier as a option if unable to sign any one of the big 3.

Why trade Weaver?Give him a chance for at least half a season to see how he does.He improved tremendously since last season and with the question marks after Bluehair and Wacha is never a sure thing to stay totally healthy.Wainwright is likely done as a reliable effective starter.Alex Reyes probably will have to be eased into very reduced role next season.Flaherty still very young.John Gant is another option to start.Lynn probably chases big money elsewhere with the premium on Starting pitchers.Otherwise you have a young bunch like Herget,Zac Galen,Ryan Helsey,Austin Gomber,Dakota Hudson to battle for a spot next Spring training.

Here is hoping Wisdom gets a shot somewhere this offseason with a deal with a Spring training invite ( can you say Phillies,Mariners,Royals,Angels,Mets,Brewers ) all could use 3B-1B bench bat with above average defense. He likely won`t get any real shot in StLouis.
