Last year I pushed for Jose Martinez, but no one would go with me on that. Instead we ranked the other Jose Martinez (ss) who I’m sure won’t get a sniff this year. So I’m with you on your thinking. However, Sherriff (who I’ve voted for in other years) is down a little on my list as of yet.

This should get interesting now; divergent opinions.

    26. Edman
    27. Pearce
    28. Seferina
    29. Kramer Robertson – Right into A ball from the draft and never looked out of place.
    30. Evan Mendoza – Was there a better player on State College; .370ba and .431obp. They had no choice but to send him up to Peoria, where he matched Robertson.

Guys I haven’t seen mentioned yet – Plummer and Hurst. Plummer has struggled hitting so far but has a strong OBP. Hurst was the top draft pick this year, also a strong OBP. Just throwing some names out there.

Sometimes I carry over votes from a previous round to finish out the vote, ie brianpnoonan voted for Seferina, Tewes, Edman, and Pearce last round, so that the rest of us can move forward.

Its just odd to me because I’ve seen some guys we’ve been waiting on comment in other threads over the past day but haven’t bothered to vote this round.

It is common for the number of voters to diminish the further we go. Not necessarily because people lose interest but more so because after getting past the top guys they dont feel informed enough to vote.

Yeah I don’t know how much longer I’ll vote because I’m not sure I have the ability to discern who should be the No.31 guy from who should be the No.36 guy and so on

Hey, it’s not a big deal to guess even!

I’m going to call it for #26-30:

    #26 – Tommy Edman
    #27 – Darren Seferina
    #28 – Luke Voit
    #29 – Sam Tewes
    #30 – Kramer Robertson

    Voting is open for #31-35.

    My votes are for:

#31 – Wadye Ynfante – He had another solid year and is still young for the level at 20 years old. Hopefully, he can continue his .800+ OPS (three years running) in Peoria next year. Plays CF too.

    #32 – Chase Pinder – Another CF that had a 146 wRC+ at JC.

    #33 – Evan Mendoza – A good defensive 3B that put up a 191 wRC+ at SC, .896 OPS.

#34 – Bryce Denton – He did okay after the disaster of a start at Peoria.

#35 – Rowan Wick – He has the stuff to be dominant. Just needs to get more comfortable as a pitcher. I can see a Jason Motte-like career. He is still ahead of Motte in that he was 24 this year at AA/AAA, while Motte was 25/26 at the same time.

I was really high on Jeremy Martinez after 2016, but his 2017 was a complete step back. Luckily, Knizner (younger also) stepped up big-time.

He did continue walking at the same rate as he struck out I suppose. Both Martinez and Knizner maintained 40+% CS percentages though.

I’m glad to see some of the lower-level prospects getting some recognition. There’s some real talent at the short-season teams despite both lower rookie leaguers having such bad W-L records. There are a few names popping up that I didn’t figure to see so early. But that’s just me. We still have many very good players to get to.

#31 Poncedeleon – His ’17 numbers were stellar before his accident. Although he’s mixed in with a batch of top-notch pitchers he can hold his own. He has met every challenge as he was pushed upward to make room for the other hot-prospects right behind him. ’17 was actually his breakout season, very impressive.

#32 Pinder – This is a guy that caught my eye very early on. The 7th rd ’17 CF carried a .300+ BA right through the season, finishing at .320, best of the Johnson City regs. His .880 OPS also 1st and his OBP .442 was also first on the team and second in the league. He also played an errorless season.

#33 Mendoza – What a season he had at State College hitting .370 in 162 ABs. It took him some time to get going at Peoria after his promotion there but hit .474 in Sept. With a better-than-average glove at 3B our 11th rd. ’17 pick was quite a find and will start ’18 at Peoria and should move up quickly.

#34 JeMartinez – I know, I know he had a poor showing at the plate at Palm Beach. For a guy that hit .325 in ’16, expectations were higher. But the 2nd year pro improved behind the plate defensively committing only 2 errors in 479 inn. It was probably that D that put him in the AAA Championship game.

#35 Hurst – Our top draft pick tailed off some towards the end of the season but still managed a solid .282 at State College. Another promising CFer at the lower levels, he could start ’18 at Palm Beach.

Pads: I will be away until Tuesday, so if you would be so kind as to include these as my 36 – 40 picks, I’d appreciate that. Just cross off anyone in the 31/35 selections who get picked and add the remainder to the next list followed by these (in order)

    Wadye Ynfante

    Thanking you in advance.

31.) Mendosa – seems like anyone who is selected in the top 20 prospects in his entire league should be considered. Nice promotions too.

32.) Ynfante – he followed up a .331/.429/.453/.882 in 2016 in the DSL with a .399/.374/.491/.865 in 2017 at Johnson City. 7 home runs and 11 stolen bases this year in only 167 at bats shows a nice combination of both power and speed.

33.) O’Reilly – pitched 142 innings to show endurance. 12-3 with a 0.94 WHIP and .218 BAA is pretty impressive too. Not to mention 132 strike outs.

34.) Young – .278/.359/.471/.830 with 17 home runs and 8 stolen bases. Nice showing.

35.) Warner – had an ERA of 2.44, WHIP of 1.10, and struck out 73 in 63 innings.
