If the colorful/crazy character/behavior player is producing a lot of crazy gets overlooked.The minute said player stops producing the “crazy odd’ gets brought to the forefront.It might not be fair but that the way life works a lot.Remember all the crazy characters the early 70
s Oakland As had on those teams……they won the World Series 3 years in a row.A lot of ‘crazy’ was tolerated as long as said players were producing.Stop producing and you got traded to Cleveland(the pits back then mostly).2016 -a glut of Pitchers and OFs may be true,but there certainly is a need for Lefthanded quality pitchers and Lefty hitting quality OFs in the system.
As for caring if and when the Chicago writers figure what the Cards are doing…who gives a damn what they think.
Getting rid of Pham was better for all parties IMHO. What the hell did Pham have to do with STlouis tradition? 25- we will just have to wait and see how the 3 guys the Cards received from TB work out won`t we.I think we look back in a few years and are damned glad the trade happened.BHC- Connor Capel is rated #10 on the Cards prospect list.The exact same spot Mercado was rated before the trade.Mercado has been around 6 years while Conner Capel was drafted in 2016.Jhon Torres is a righty batter and only 18.So saying the Cards got less talented players is wrong.I liked Mercado also but I understand the deal.Cards system was thin on potential impact LH bats.Justin Williams (from TB) and Capel (CLeve) can help that.
Mercado wasn`t going to be the new Willie Mays.I think Cards decided the need for LH bats was a priority and getting some today was done.Cards still have Arozarena,lane Thomas,Adolis Garcia at AAA and other decent guys at Springfield.
Pham is gone and its better for all sides.Let him do his “poor mistreated me” routine in TB and he can see his team get its ass kicked on a regular basis by Yankees and Red Sox.
The wait to deadline was anti-climatic with Cards unable or unwilling to continue dealing.Still Cards did revamp the bullpen and get younger overall and at least some issues received some attention.Still think like some others here that there will be a waiver deal or two befin the next weeks before playoff roster deadline.I doubt Jmartinez or Bud Norris see September with the Cards.

Neill needs to play regular.Fowler can be the backup guy.With 4 OFs and using your best options Ozuna LF,Bader CF,ONeill RF Fowler backup.It would be dumb to bring up O`Neill and sit him only giving him a couple of starts a week and Pinch-hitting.Great trade.Justin Williams Lefty hitting OF .Its not like the system is loaded with them.He had a cup of coffee with TB a couple of weeks ago.22 years old.

Roel Ramirez 23 year RHP AA and A+ this year.Looks like a middle inning guy.25- Not overjoyed.Just glad he is gone and the Cards got some guys who could help in the future.Maybe this was the best for all parties.Pham can start fresh in TB and Cards get more young blood.
Kelly being judged by his very limited playing time is just plain silly and premature.Molina is still above average defensively but he is showing wear and tear and is not the same level defensively he once once.All the innings take a toll .You simply can
t beat father time.As I have stated many times before -I would like a rested Molina for 110-120 games a year.Kelly starting the rest .That way Molina stays fresh longer and Kelly gets some more experience.That would be a good scenario but it wont happen unless whoever is manager makes it happen and Molina sees the benfits of being rested and staying healthy and being able to contribute instead of wearing down and dragging ass.That`s my take.IF FO/MO/Girsh don`t trade Jose Martinez today to a AL team then they are asleep at the wheel.Boston,NYY,Oakland,Houston and Seattle all can use a RH bat.
I don`t need to get typhoid fever to know that its not good for me.I would hope Cards would do their due diligence concerning PED issues and players being considered as trade targets .
