Not to put pressure on Pads or anything, but he has done a fine job leading your efforts in recent years. Is he up for it again?

Anyone other than Pads holding the “reigns” in this esteemed endeavor would be akin to Batman having a masked Don Knotts as his sidekick instead of Robin. You’re the man, Pads! Just don’t let up for a second, Pads…. rumor has it that our newest poster, 35 year old CardinalBabe1982, is licking her chops at a shot at becoming our new Cardinal prospect guru.

Brian – While in Peoria, be sure to stop by World Famous Big Al’s for a cold frosty one. Been a landmark in downtown Peoria for over 40 years. Never been there myself (of course). Just heard it was an institution in town.
As far as the DSL, I tell myself to wait for guys to get state side before getting to excited. Guys like Ynfante and Sanchez have yet to translate DSL success to performing state side.
With that said there are several guys with very impressive numbers across the 2 DSL clubs. Nunez is now batting over .400. And Carlos Soler a guy they gave $600k to in their big spending year is putting up impressive numbers.
Need to get these guys state side next season and see how they hold up.

Right you are, Cardinals27!! How does 0 runs, 1 hit, 10 K’s and 0 walks in 7 innings of work grab you? Can we end this madness and get Fagalde on the next flight to Springfield…..totally bypassing Palm Beach all together! With all due respect to Midwest League participants, Alex Fagalde is a man amongst children in his present surroundings….challenge the man!!! As a quick aside, I saw something odd going on in between innings in this ballgame. I could swear I saw the home plate ump powdering his nose on numerous occasions. Anyone else catch this?
Fagalde and the other surprise starter Balestieri have really held the Chiefs rotation together in June and July. Fagalde’s July GSs =72-49-64-69-90….. Balestieri’s last three= 64-77-69. These are excellent numbers.
On the offensive side, the bash brothers (YGonzales(.317 and Montero .316) have carried the lineup all season. Last night PEO = AB-36 R-5 H-9 HR-2 RBI=5. YG and EM = AB-9 R-4 H-5 HR-2 RBI-5. That is a good example how important the 3 & 4 hitters are to the team.
Since Baker joined the team, YGonzalez has also been playing the outfield, making him even more valuable for Peoria. I believe that the underrated Gonzalez should be on the top-50 list, definitely.
Gonzalez has done a nice job, but he is three years older than the average player in his league. He is more than four years older than his fellow “bash brother” Montero. In prospect years, four is a LOT.
Defensively, he has become a super utility man for Peoria.
Gonzalez being able to play the OF sure helps out now, with 4 out of the 5 outfielder on the DL. They had to bring up Benson from GCL for some depth.
I understand the age situation and wonder what is keeping the organization moving him up to a more age-appropriate team. Brian, I think we had the same discussion last season. Palm Beach has a problem with their corner-infielders because none of them are hitting well at all. What’s the hold-up?
At the end July I start thinking of where some of our prospects will start in 2019. I see Gorman, Cedeno, Woodall, Gomez, Soto being challenged at Peoria. Maybe Baker, Montero, and Gonzalez skip Palm Beach? And unless there is a trade, the catching prospects don’t have anywhere to go. I could see Baron released, and Martinez backing up Kelly at Memphis. Then O’Keefe could backup Knizner at Springfield. Rodriguez and Ortega would be at Palm Beach, although I would like both to have starting spots somewhere.
Mo still has more work to do. He needs to clear some roster space.

Cards 27…. the catching situation is frustrating and hurting the entire organization. It was dumb-a$$ mozeliak giving Molina that 3 year contract that has fouled up the whole system.
I saw that the day the contract was signed, and can’t see the reasoning.
Just another good reason to get rid of our Baseball Operations Director, or whatever he calls himself.
Yes, truly awful to pay a guy who’s 4th among regular catchers in OPS and wRC+ this year. They should have non tendered the bum!
Boo to the GM who has the second best team record in his tenure with nowhere near the highest payroll!
What a disaster. Imagine how many prospects’ careers were destroyed at the expense of such an inept front office. Guh!
Molina is the heart and soul of the Cardinals right now. Fiesty and still productive. The problem has been RF, CF, and 2B. Not catcher. Kelly is hot now and ready to step in if Molina is injured. Good backup to have.
Wait until the very good high levels prospects dry up, then you’ll see how the FO has handled things.
This situation has been written about right here by Brian.
Molina may not be worth $20 million on the field but Kelly hasn’t shown well in his cups of coffee and Kinzler defense has been documented. Molina isn’t the issue. The OF has been a disappointment along with the bullpen and defense. You might be correct at some point in the Molina contract but right now you’re not even in the ballpark.
It will be interesting to see moving forward how the integrate a guy like O’Neil. I don’t think they can keep in for another year in AAA. My guess is they move someone in the offseason. (pham)
So what if Kelly hasn’t shown well in his cups of coffee? That people actually use his sporadic usage at the MLB level against him is ridiculous to me.
I just felt that a two-year contract for Molina would have made more sense. If he wouldn’t go for it… cut ties. He’s overrated at this point and the $$ was an overpay.
Oh, I know its Yadi!
He might want out of STL with the way things are going. There won’t be any rings in the next two years.
Yadi has been our best and most consistent player since getting that contract

People ran our backup catcher Cruz out of town because he couldnt hit, a backup non hitting catcher, as if he was a key problem for our team…Kelly the uber future star hitter and catcher wasnt hitting and not all that great behind the plate either…how many days do you think the fans could handle his 0-4’s before they call for his head?Kelly being judged by his very limited playing time is just plain silly and premature.Molina is still above average defensively but he is showing wear and tear and is not the same level defensively he once once.All the innings take a toll .You simply can
t beat father time.As I have stated many times before -I would like a rested Molina for 110-120 games a year.Kelly starting the rest .That way Molina stays fresh longer and Kelly gets some more experience.That would be a good scenario but it wont happen unless whoever is manager makes it happen and Molina sees the benfits of being rested and staying healthy and being able to contribute instead of wearing down and dragging ass.That`s my take.Strange happening…. I saw that catcher Cameron Knight made an unassisted double play last night. Yet there was no caught stealings (strike out – tag out a runner from 3rd trying to steal). This is a head-scratcher.
