Could third base be an option for #STLCards No. 1 prospect Rainiel Rodriguez? 👀
Today, Assistant GM Rob Cerfolio said that the club introduced Rodriguez to first base this season and “might” add other positions this offseason
He later mentioned third base specifically while… pic.twitter.com/JOWD5MUgeJ

Rivera is not a former Cardinal, but I wish he had been. I never knew this story until now.
In 2013, Mariano Rivera announced it was his last season.
Every team in baseball lined up to give him retirement gifts. A gold record. A rocking chair made from broken bats. A fire hose nozzle from the FDNY.
He accepted all of it.
But at every single ballpark, he asked for… pic.twitter.com/sEaqhWH0Kl

I don’t think baseball will be able to move on until the fallout from the collapse of this apparent house of cards settles. I wonder how this will impact the MLB-Players negotiations. It could slow things down.
Thank you for watching and commenting. I think it shows through how much fun we have.
The High-A Chiefs dropped the home series to Beloit, before losing the series opener at Lansing. #stlcards OF prospect Yordalin Pena started his Peoria tenure on a tear, hitting .345 with two home runs through his first eight games. https://t.co/PuyYPskxk1 pic.twitter.com/IxDAfr4uft

An interesting web. Not sure about the “illegal” accusation, but it isn’t something every other team can do.
How do the Dodgers carry an unlimited payroll?
Filings uncovered by @NickNemo17 show roughly $1.45 billion in debt for American Media Productions, the entity behind SportsNet LA and the Dodgers' 25-year, $8.35 billion Charter deal, sitting on the balance sheets of 5 life… https://t.co/TDWIARMmdY

I didn’t mention our former forum member RCWarrior in my tweet, but I thought about it! 😉

In the small world department, one of the players in the upcoming Little League Baseball World Series is Kinley Rasmus. Her dad is ex-MLB pitcher Cory Rasmus and former #stlcards OF Colby Rasmus is her uncle. Both dad and uncle also played in the LLBWS for Phenix City, Alabama.

Reyes is 22 so he should get moving, but he has been active just one month this season coming off injury and has thrown less than 10 innings.
August 18, 2026 at 9:06 am in reply to: StL 2026 Gm #123 thread – Sat, Aug15 at Cubs – “The Baez Game” #316474I'm sure others have posted this but Josh Baez made three outs (so far) in the opener at Cincinnati on batted balls that were clocked at 112 mph, 107.1 mph and 106 mph off the bat. Cue the "what's wrong with Baez, he hasn't done anything since Saturday" comments. #STLCards

You may have missed this in our game recap from Cijntje’s last start. I should have confirmation by this time tomorrow (Tuesday) when Memphis discloses the rotation for the week. Then again, they might use this as a reason for him to skip a turn. He is the only pitcher in the entire system to have thrown over 100 innings (though Mathews is also there if you include his StL time).
Jurrangelo Cijntje is not hurt. He will be fine. No worries. https://t.co/Ck6dg1NMRD

August 17, 2026 at 11:20 am in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #124 thread – Sunday, August 16 at Chicago Cubs #316401With a four-man bench, one of which is a catcher, it is harder for teams to carry a platoon starter and someone else to cover the other side of the platoon.
It’s kinda’ tough when your top RBI man is reduced to being Victor Scott when he hits against LHP. This season, against LHP, Burleson is identical to Scott in totality when Victor was sent down – .534 OPS. Even Pages is better (.574 OPS).
Burly is an MVP candidate vs. RHP alone, though, with an OPS over 450 points higher than vs LHP.
To help put this into perspective, this season, 69.5% of Burly’s plate appearances have been against RHP. The other 30.5% have been essentially wasted PAs vs. LHP. That’s a lot of outs to give up.
I am not against Burly, either, but I can’t see why he should be playing against left-handed pitching. Of course, having a better bench would surely help.
Do you have information that Cijntje is injured badly enough to miss any starts?
Keep in mind that the use of the development list the rest of the season could be to provide a short-term breather rather than an indication of a performance problem that needs to be addressed (ala Baez, Hence and others).
