I wish this team could either play well enough to squeak into the playoffs with a young roster to build postseason experience or just start losing to improve their draft status for next year. Instead they are in the middle which to me is the worst place to be. I don’t like aging losing ia good, but a top 10 pick again would be nice to have for the future team to maybe have another potential star level guy

Nice W all the way around with Leahy featuring a nice turn, Winn with the bat to provide some runs and a near flawless 4 innings of work from the BP as the Bogsider seals it shut for his NL leading 32nd SV. He’s now whittled his ERA down to 2.96 as the team manages to still play games that matter going into the end of August. “Youneverknow”…
After an 8 hour shift I came home and took over watching a two year old for 3 hours. Then I took a nap.
The one inning wonders no hit them for 4 innings. Wow. Did anyone think Leahy would be 10-4? Not me.

Probably neither, but we could get lucky in the draft order lottery. I saw somewhere that the White Sox, Giants, and Pirates are ineligible for the lottery in the 2027 draft.
It’s been my experience that watching a toddler for a few hours is normally more labor intensive than a full 40 hr. work week…On the upside, the work is a lot fun and I always get a good workout and sleep like a baby that night.

We didn’t have a top 10 pick this year and people loved our 1st pick and our draft.
Can’t help that the team is hanging around. The players and coaching staff want to win.

I didn’t love the first pick but with who was on the board it was an okay selection. The guys I really wanted went a few picks earlier that I saw as having a good amount more upside than Condon (described by FG as least toolsy top 15 pick). Maybe Condon will end getting to enough power though to have enough upside to be an above average offensive guy though.
Leahy has proved me right and wrong. Last year this time I thought he would be getting a rotation spot and that was right. But early this year I had given up on him as a SP since he was struggling so bad and pitching so short into games. But he has really improved since mid June and has been very dominant albeit in short stints. I think they are trying to limit his innings as he still isn’t pitching deep. But maybe with a full season under his belt as a SP by next year they let him pitch deeper.

When a pitcher can stay on the mound there is something to work with over time. When he can’t there isn’t and the only viable developent path is to hope ad pray. It is astonishing to me how long a player traveling that path is considered a worthwhile investment of development resources.
