willie can you check the labels and see where they are made, just curious.
I think that we are seeing just what we expected to see as far as players getting regular time on the field. The group of outfielders, to include Thomas, will get ample opportunity to establish whether or not they can perform at the MLB level as everyday players. None have especially noteworthy minor league or MLB stats, but they are getting their chance. DeJong will probably continue averaging a homer a week and also continue the overall offensive slide that has been steady since the high point in 2017. The situation with Carp is unfortunate. He is keeping Rondon in the minors and Sosa on the bench, while contributing nothing. But that is not a surprise. We are just going to have to wait for some of this stuff to play out. It is way easier when we are winning.

Mr. Shannon is a treasure and he is putting up a good fight. I wish him well coming back from serious illness. It looks like the pitching was the story of this game. We have been making the most of a scarcity of hits. Nice win.

But he is a Cardinal lifer so will have to be eased out gently. We might as well quit worrying about it. I hope he has a good game today.

April 7, 2021 at 2:38 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 6 thread – Wednesday, April 7 at Marlins #157358Hopefully Carp will have some success hitting to left field. We need Jack to step up like the Ace.

April 7, 2021 at 9:08 am in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 5 thread – Tuesday, April 6 at Marlins #157313I hope so too cranny. But the large majority of the time .280 in the Texas League does not turn into that kind of MLB batting line.
April 7, 2021 at 8:37 am in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 5 thread – Tuesday, April 6 at Marlins #157309Pugs my thinking is Carlson will be less Sandburg and more Dejong. A homer a week and .230 in between.

I heard Carp is trying to hit it to left, true?

9. John Gant (R) PYou would think they would move a guy like Nogowski, who shows some ability at the plate, to the front of the line. But that isn’t how it works. RA hit .300 at Memphis so they traded him. I think we will be seeing what we are seeing for a while. Mo needs more data points before he can shift the SABR spew and find out there aren’t any nuggets in there.
April 6, 2021 at 4:33 am in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 4 thread – Monday, April 5 at Marlins #157121Edman raised his average 33 points with a hit tonight… and now is batting 200. If he gets 2 hits tomorrow, that’ll be 4 players over 250.
Not so fast David. Sadly, Yadi dropped back to .231. So as of now we have 2 regulars hitting over .250, Goldy and NA. Yadi’s .231 does give us 3 hitting above the Mendoza line though. Perhaps if we moistened the paper bags it would help. Is that legal?
April 5, 2021 at 8:35 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 4 thread – Monday, April 5 at Marlins #157098As of now, O’neill is the masher in the OF, hitting .188, with Carlson at .091, Williams and Dean .000.

April 5, 2021 at 7:25 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 4 thread – Monday, April 5 at Marlins #157092I see we now have 3 guys hitting over .250. Goldy, NA and Yadi. The huddled masses need to man up. Any time now would be fine. PDL looks impressive on the mound.
April 5, 2021 at 6:11 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 4 thread – Monday, April 5 at Marlins #157074At least we got a walk and run scored out of our outfield to go along with the 2 strike outs.
Casteyawnos got what he deserved, probably should have been more.
Off with his head, I say.
