This doesn’t seem like a team that is rebuilding with a move like that. He’s got a nasty sinker iirc.

They can trade Contreras and I still think this team will be competitive.

Still feel like the best way to dump him is to take back a bad salary from another team. Also would help putting him in a stadium where the balls go over the fence at a good pace. I don’t think we can reasonably expect even a decent prospect back in return unless we did facilitate a deal and ate a good chunk of a contract.

If they package 2 ready to go players like Noot and Conteras. It will Take more than Tong to get it done IMO. They need another RH OF bat to make it work. Doesn’t have to be a top 5 guy but top 6-15 from the mets.

I think Donovan’s trade value likely lessens with rumors like these. We’ll have to find a taker for Nado and eat money if we want him gone. Who gets the reps at 3rd when he’s gone? Spare me with Gorman. He’s a bum who can’t play 3rd and is a platoon player. We aren’t throwing Fermin out there for a season. Rather put JJ there and let him fail and keep Donny to hedge our bets. It seems teams don’t want to meet out asking price for him. Let’s get rid of Noot and eat a little money and let the mets have their 1st baseman who is cheaper and plays better D than the polar bear. Get some pitching and someone to hedge if Walker never figures it out(likely) or Baez never figure it out.

And just as I thought. Mets interested in Contreras. They also have interest in Nootbarr. Wilson makes sense for them. I could see him getting dealt soon. Free up Burleson to first. I mean if Nootbarr is dealt to them as well then you’d think they’d like that more than getting into a bidding war for Kyle Tucker. We could fetch 2-3 top 15 prospects for them. Jonah Tong would be a centerpiece.

Petit or the guy from the Dodgers is who I’d take.

Not that this is players related but Katie Woo is leaving us for the Dodgers. I think there was a little rumble about her leaving a couple months back.

Also don’t forget Packy Naughton is still with the team. He signed a 2 year minors deal. He didn’t pitch at all last year. He could be a lefty and I guess he’s been throwing but not off speed.

Rule 5 would be a cheap way to get a lefty. People seem high on a couple of guys i. Both articles. Petit man sounds interesting.

A couple of pitchers interest me. Both articles jive on a couple of the same pitchers. Petit from the Tigers looks interesting. Also a lefty might be needed if Romero is dealt. Natura Jr. and McDaniels would interest me on that side.

Re remember that we have to find a taker for Nado. Angels might be a taker but not if we don’t eat some serious money. He won’t like hitting in that park tho.

Arizona maybe in a bad contract swap. We get Montgomery back with some money kicked their way. He could hit .250 20-80 there and cement his legacy. We’d get a vet pitcher on rebound looking to reestablish himself into the 2026 season back from injury. If he does ok you give him a kicker deal and if he doesn’t then you just let him go.

    Uhhhhh……..

Am I correct in that Marmol might be about to receive an extension???

Who in their right mind would do that?

A POBO and ownership who’d like to see a players manager oversee this thing. Someone who both likely see eye to eye on his value.

This shouldn’t be shocking news. Was reported in September that Chaim was likely to go down this road and start extension talks.

It’s gets beaten like a dead horse around several sites that Oli is the reason this team has been around .500 the last 2 years. It’s in your mind. You have been brainwashed by the flock. He’s only a small part of it. Look up at the ivory tower and there’s the real issue that have kept this team out of the postseason the past 3 years. Hopefully a new vision gets us were we want to go and if Oli is here for it then that’s just the way it is.

Some interesting notes while you get the bird and stuffing ready.

Towards the bottom of the article it appears Chaim understands the need of adding a veteran to the rotation on a short term deal. Let’s see what they do. Think it all depends on whom they send packing via trade.

The Cardinals only win this trade if Fitts or Clarke turn out to be better than Gray. I would tend to believe that site for established MLB players a lot more than I would for prospects, who are valued weirdly.

They don’t win the trade if one ends up a back end starter and the other a 8th or 9th inning option?

One is already getting a chance to start and the other is highly thought of, has a rocket arm but is a tad wild in high A ball. I think we win because we potentially got younger cost controlled pitching. Which is what Chaim and ownership wanted. Young and cheap while they get the house in order and try and get some fans back at some point.

They would be very foolish to not go out and acquire a swingman type starter like Colin Rea was for the Cubs this year. The teams starting pitching mix is very volatile. Clearly they see potential in Libertore, back end in McGreevy. Starter potential in Fitts and then an experiment in Leahy and a wild card in Pallante.

I’m not as bullish on the starting pitching mix down in the minors as some. I think almost all of it is at least a late July
Call up away. Pallante is a compete wild card and you dont know what you really have in Fitts and Leahy. At least go out and throw some money at guy you can deal for a top 20 prospect if he ends up in the rotation due to injury or ineffectiveness. It’s called hedging you bets and this ownership and Chaim are idiots if they don’t at least address it.

The thing is and this is no excuse. Sometimes when people who have never had the ability to control something get that power. They say and do things that they shouldn’t say or do. Shildt is the perfect example of someone it appears who had control and just used it however he wanted to and didn’t care much about what the people under him thought or felt sans the players. He even admitted that he would say hard things to coaches and players and I guess support staff that was taken to heart. I mean I guess he took ownership in at least his part.

San Diego knowing what they knew hired him regardless. Maybe he threw shade on his time in STL by taking a lesser role with the padres and came out as a good guy to manage. He likely is better as an instructor and I think he has come to realize that he was more of an issue and just wants to be happy and healthy in a secondary role.
