And the IBB to Betts and the Blue Jays now work to Big Freddie.

And a long fly ball to the CF warning track off the bat of Freeman sends this WS game to the 14th.

On to the 16th at Dodger Stadium. This WS might go 8 games…

The 17th inning BB to Ohtani is a post-season record 9th time that Godzilla has reached base in this WS game. He broke his very own record of 8 times reaching base earlier in this game…Haha!

On to 18th at Dodger Stadium which ties a record for most innings played in a WS game set by Dodgers/Red Sox in game 3 of the ’18 WS.

Hate to admit that I gave up and went to bed. After Kershaw pitched the 12th, I figured the baseball gods would give him the win. No, they played six more innings after that!

Notice how they do not use the stupid runner on second base in games that are important. That added to the length of the game, but it is how baseball should be played, IMO.

The home plate umpire made that egregious call of a strike on what was clearly a ball and wiped out a runner.

But the Jays manager removing three of his best hitters from the lineup in the first eight innings handicapped his team’s ability to score in extras.

Agreed. There’s no reason for that rule to even occur. I understand that they want regular season games to end more quickly, but I do miss those long drawn out extra innings affairs where managers have to think about using position players on the mound.

That’s why they call him, “Big Freddie.”

Trivia: name the 5 current teams who haven’t won a W.S. I couldn’t, good luck.

Without looking it up I would say:

    Padres
    Rockies
    Rays
    Mariners

Not sure about the 5th team. Maybe Brewers?

Those 4 are correct. I couldn’t remember the 5th either.

The earlier chatter on this thread regarding teams that have never won a WS had me thinking of some of the great players who never participated in a solitary WS game. Ernie Banks is always the first player to enter my mind followed by Billy Williams. But the list goes on and on and includes some pretty impressive names like, Griffey Jr. Niekro, Perry, Carew, Dawson, F. Thomas, Sandberg, Santo and Jenkins. Obviously, playing for the Cubs is an automatic curse, but I’ve always thought it was more than a little sad that so many great players never experienced the thrill of taking to the field of play for a WS game. Life can be that way sometimes and I’ve always thought of the game of baseball as a sort of reflection of life.

After that classic marathon 18 inning WS game last night, I’m wondering how many players will be a little too tired to show up for tonight’s game 4…

After viewing last night’s game, Manfred’s considering changing the regular season extra inning rules in a manner that will place a ghost runner at 3B to begin an extra inning…

Got to the bar in the 7th after leaving early from work. Didn’t know I’d get a full game in. Lol

Junior and A-Rod in Seattle never winning threw me off. 106 wins but no ring.

With the bullpens depleted Ohtani may need to go 9 innings tonight.

Actually the Mariners won 116 games in 2001 and that was AFTER they had traded away both Griffey Jr. and Rodriguez. But here’s another good one…I can clearly recall the ’93 season in which the Giants won 103 regular season games and didn’t qualify for post-season play…Haha! How’s that for a kick in the you know what?

Yeah, he sure might, gscottar. I don’t know if you were still watching last night but, when Freddie ripped the 18th inning walk-off HR, Roberts had Yamamoto heating up in the BP. And speaking of Yamamoto, he’s rapidly becoming a post-season tour de force. In his only two seasons in the Big Leagues he’s 5-1 with a 2.47 ERA in 8 post-season turns. Them’s approaching Gibson type numbers.

Toronto’s creating some serious separation here in the 7th inning as they push 4 runs across HP to make it a 6-1 game. Every time these Blue Jays look to be on the ropes, they counter with a genuine haymaker. In any case, you can’t help but to be impressed at their ability bounce back when facing adversity.
