They’re like children. You love them but you want to beat them with a stick sometimes.
And that, friends, is why you don’t put 2 guys who can’t hit back to back.
Edit-Actually, these two guys don’t belong in the lineup on the same day. But I digress.
Think about Arenados 2 at bats. Inside out swing on a 3-0 count with nobody on and 2 out results in a single. Than with a man on second and 2 outs and a 2-1 count he tries to pull a pitch and pops out.
If Contreras and Noooooooot come back and hit, Goldy and Arenado have to be moved down. Too bad if they get their feelings hurt.
OK. I’m a hypocrite. I’ve been on the rebuild side. And I still am if that means moving goldy and arenado. But as of last week I’ve been scoreboard watching. First time in over a year. It’s fun and adds to the game. Go Cards. Bury the pretenders behind you, pick up a game a week on the lead. That’s the way a chase works.

I love defense. But ad poor as our scoring is we just can’t afford an outfielder who absolutely can’t produce anything.
Jnevel-Team looks 100% better with a catcher who can play defense and a cf who can hit. Carlson looking much better. Almost hit it out lh late yesterday. Take it from there. I like Herreras bat. You can’t send any of those guys down. Siani and Carpenter are first 2 go. You have to be kidding about sending down Burleson, right? You must continue playing Carlson. I can’t stress that enough. He is already hitting much better. Tommy may not even play this year. That’s my prediction.

I tell you WC holds little interest for me. Make up 1 game a week you lead the division @ the trade deadline. But you HAVE to start hitting or no bueno.

ZTR The pitching has been better than expected. Winn and Burleson are better than expected. That’s it. 500ish team. Not good. Good teams overcome I juries. Our roster is baseball malpractice.
We still have to figure out if they are buyers or sellers. If they are buyers, listen to what Mo said. #5 sp, #4 right hand centerfielder. So a dumpster dive. Remember, these days Mo never overwhelms. Don’t get exited about any add at the trade deadline.

I think hanging around 500 is going to be the best we do this season. This roster has to be turned over if you want better.
