Siani has been a life saver in center. Does not hit much but he saves a ton of runs. If he could hit .300 he would be a lefty Curt Flood.
I was watching early, then missed the middle part. But I saw out four run inning and I was expecting Carlson to be rung up. I think the ump got sidetracked with the runners and was not watching the pitch. 😀
Perused the thread and you guys were talking about 1982. I had a toddler and my ex and I were on site apartment managers in Boulder, CO – so free rent. I was going to the U of Colorado so we were pretty broke most of the time, but the free rent kept a roof over our heads.

I was too focused on Donovan moving off of 1B and entirely taken in with the thought of whether or not Gorman was going to be able to score during the rundown. At any rate, that 4th run turned out to be the difference in the game.
Yep, it did. I was actually shocked that the Braves weren’t beefing about the call as it looked right there.

Siani is out hitting 3 of the other 8 guys in the lineup last night. On a lesser scale he seems to be benefiting from regular play similar to Burleson.
Personally, I now can’t imagine a center field without Siani in it. We all have seen great center fielders……but none better than this fellow. And as Bling points out, his hitting is trending upward. Some 40 odd years ago we acquired a magician in the field whom couldn’t hit a lick, but then over the years came on strong as a hitter. Different fielding positions, but is a Ozzie Smith-Michael Siani comparison potentially that far off base?
Both clubs scored below the mlb avg of 4.35 R/G. We won with pitching and D.

Hat-tip to Donovan, again. Burly and Siani w/multi-hit games, and their team D was very good.
Lefty bats accounted for 9 of our 11 hits, and 10 of our 12 total bases. Oli stacked the lineup with lefties and it worked for 4 runs.
The lineup was without the bronze busts. Could you tell? Were you missing their production? I wasn’t.

Crawford is too. It seems to be a pattern, but I don’t ever expect the Cardinals to learn.
Regular playing time usually benefits guys that have some ability. It is tough to get into a rhythm when you play a couple of days a week or get an at-bat here or there. It is true with pretty much everything that you have to work on it day in and day out, regularly in order to master a craft.
Now and then back in the day there were guys noted as good pinch hitters. Jerry Lynch comes to mind, and Smoky Burgess. We had Steve Braun for a couple of years who was pretty good. But it is tough to be successful at it.
I watched the replay of that double steal where we got our fourth run, and the pitch to Carlson was definitely a strike. We were gifted that run as Dylan should have been called out.
