It’s kinda sobering, but not surprising to see the Brewers prospect ranking is right below us and to see the Dodgers have 7 in the top 100.

There’s an old rather lengthy joke that applies here… A man is walking along with God and asks him will we ever see another 30 game winner? God answers no, not in your lifetime. He then asks will we ever see another 400 hitte Again God answers, no, not in your lifetime. Finally he asks will we ever see Revenue sharing in baseball. God shakes his head and says No, not in MY lifetime…

I used to work part time overnights at a radio station. If you worked the fall back time change the bookkeeper would only pay you for 8 hours instead of the 9 that you actually worked. She told me it would even out when the clock moved ahead an hour. Since I was a part timer who filled in when someone took a day off, in the 4 years I worked there the other overnight guys NEVER took off on the nights they’d only have to work 7 hours. πŸ™‚

I’m in agreement with all your picks except for the NL East. I think the Braves will get some of their guys back from the IL and pull out the division.

I also am soooper impressed with the Brewers. For a small/midmarket team what they do consistently amazes me.

Aggravating that it’s on Netflix. Contreras and Jordan Walker were both smokin’. Who could have dreamed that Jordan (let’s DFA him) Walker would be an all-star and in the HR Derby. I’m happy for both these guys.

It wasn’t Contreras fault he was probably got overpaid. I thought he gave it 100 percent and was a real pro when they moved him from behind the plate. I liked the chip on his shoulder. The phrase overused is that he’s a gamer. I admire Walker for his work ethic, positive additude, and his willingness to persevere through times that could have easily crushed his hopes and his soul. Contreras and Walker lead HR Derby after round 1.

Is it raining down there in St. Louis? Up here in Springfield Illinois, it’s storming like crazy. Hope we don’t get washed out. I’m aware I could look it up, but I don’t want to step on Rat’s Buddy’s toes, who’s our resident meteorologist. πŸ™‚

I can understand why Cardinals 27 confused a 3rd baseman with a pitcher. Our 3rd sacker for the past couple seasons hit like a pitcher. πŸ˜‰

I too am weary of Gorman. I would think there would be some other team with depth at that position that we could aquire someone with a pulse to play third base. Where are Kenny Oberkfell, Terry Pendleton and David Freese when you need them. I’m not even asking for Boyer, Arenado, Rolen, just a decent bat that can field the position.

Just finished my lunchtime feast. Two peanut butter sandwiches on low carb bread, big bowl of raw spinach and low carb protein drink. Forty something carbs to keep my blood sugar low. Doesn’t sound like much but it really hit the spot.

Let’s add a young Simba to DH and Yadi to catch. While we’re at it we might as well get a 50 year old Whitey to run the show. πŸ™‚

I’m showing my age here, but don’t forget Ken Reitz when you list slick fielding Cardinals 3rd basemen. NOT quite an Arenado or Rolen, but he probably deserved a gold glove or 2 that Mike Schmidt got in part because of his hitting.

On the absence of a game to watch, here was MY dinner. Feel free to either poke fun or pity me… 5 baked boneless baked chicken thighs, a big honking bowl of spinach fot my 6th serving of veggies, a protein drink and string cheese stick.

In my defense I’m diabetic with a 15% functional pancreas. Spent 39 days in the hospital whe my pancreas exploded (necrotizing pancreatitis) I went from a dad bod chubby 209 to a 135 pound guy that would get sand kicked on me at the beach. 2 1/2 years later I’m a pretty healthy 155 pounds. Thanks to a tremendous doctor and my wife, and RN who stuck with me every single night I was hospitalized.

I like living vicariously through your dinners. Keep ’em coming. πŸ™‚

Ratsbuddy, best of luck with Whitey Herdog. Anyone who doesn’t think of their pet as a part of their family is really missing out.Our daughter lost her pet Yorkie, Lilly, on Christmas eve. Lilly, like our cats Daisy and Lucky are truly members of the family. Think happy thoughts.

I remember Nate Colbert, didn’t know he was from St. Louis. I remember he had a killer Strato-Matic card back in the day. Loved playing that game. For some reason I donated my old set. A friend and I tried to play the entire 1977 season. Needless to say, we quit partway through. Thought about buying it again but it’s crazy expensive.

The only thing I dislike more than late night games are the Apple TV games.

We can only hope for 2 things, A) he turns it around, at least to agree, or B) he looks bad enough to be replaced. πŸ™‚

Regarding Cardinal radio… I had a job at a Springfield, IL radio station, where I inserted the local commercials in between innings and was getting a whopping $4.00 per hour to listen to Buck and Shannon. Loved it. I even got to meet them during the strike season when they came to Springfield to do a couple Springfield Redbirds games. They refurbished the booth for them, installing an air conditioner for them.Jack Buck was very kind to me for the few minutes I was up in the booth before the game. Shannon was on the phone. Complaining to his hotel about his room… Great memories.

Has anyone out here downloaded the Cardinal.TV app? I looked for it on the Google play Store and through my firestick and can’t find it. I also signed into my free MLB.TV account and wasn’t able to find a way to add it. As of yesterday it wasn’t an option to add to Amazon Prime video, fubo or YouTube tv. I hate the thought of getting a DirecTV package or cable subscription just to watch us lose 90+ games.

My eight ball says “reply hazy, ask again.” Thank you for your response. I appreciate it. I just poked the thread to see if anything has been decided/announced.

After looking around the web, Fubo’s website says you can subscribe to FanDuel only, and it shows the Cardinals. I don’t know if it has been updated since FanDuel missed their payments, so I have my doubts.

Does anyone have any definitive answer on where someone in central Illinois will be able to watch Cardinals games this year? If MLB takes over, will it just be a part of MLB extra innings, but not blacked out for those of us in the traditional blackout area? If it’s a stand alone product, will it be available as an add on to YouTube tv, prime,, etc, or just cable systems? Spring training is coming up. As crummy as we’re gonna be, I still want to watch.

I switched from DirecTV to YouTube tv, knowing that I’d lose Cardinals coverage. I was prepared to add Fubo for the games. The monthly payment for both services would still have been less than I was paying for DirecTV.

But, I learned that I could add FanDuel sports midwest through Amazon prime video for about $20 per month. It allows me to watch the games when it’s convenient for me. If typically start watching about an hour after first pitch and forward through commercials and the inevitable pitching meltdowns that leave me exasperated.

If you already have Amazon Prime, it’s areal bargain and gives me the flexibility that I want.

Speaking of Tommy Lawless. I was vacationing in Scotland a couple years ago and spotted a tourist with a Lawless jersey. It blew my mind. πŸ˜€

Was Willie McGee at opening day today? I was a little distracted, but I didn’t see him come out with the other red jackets…

How many more Roku/Apple TV/Peacock/Dog Tv games do we have left? You’d think that these streaming platforms would pick better teams than our barely treading water Redbirds.

A couple things… The lineup today featured 3 guys with current batting averages lower than Waino’s .192 lifetime average, pretty sad
Also doe anyone know the announced attendance at Busch for today? The UFL Battlehawks had an announced attendance of 31,700 today. I live across the river on Springfield. So I have no idea. But is there any buzz for the minor league football team down there? I’ve been a Cardinal fan for 53 years. But I watched more of the Battlehawk game today than our hapless birds. They are so depressing
It just seems like wash rinse, and repeat from last year
