Regarding the repeated marriages between MLB and the gaming industry… As Yogi Berra might say, If Shoeless Joe were alive today, he’d be spinning in his grave. 🙂

That article appears to be a year old unless they put the wrong date on the article.

They may not have an answer yet. It was pointed out in the intro to CardinalsTV on the Cardinals website.

Nathan…..The Cardinals are on Channel 671 on my DirecTV. The Reds are on Channel 661. Cubs 664. WhiteSox 665. All the other games are on the 700 series channels.

I sure hope I can still see all the games with this Xtra Innings Package thru DirecTV. Not sure what I would do if I can’t.

I have a small transistor radio that sits on the table next to my recliner. It has an antenna that pulls out and swivels around. It works on battery or can plug into a USB for power or to recharge the battery. I ordered it on Amazon and it was sitting on my front porch a couple days later. It came with an earbud thing that plugs into the radio and I stick it in my right ear, which is the one that works. Then the other ear is free to listen to my wife. The channel is 1120 AM. I’m set.

Blingboy, this scenario sounds very familiar!

Fresh batteries installed, the 1972 Panasonic pocket transistor radio I inherited from my avid Cardinal fan father-in-law who used it for nearly 40 years, is ready to go again.
Game tested it on the first day of 2026 spring training, passed with flying colors. Wife tested the other ear, it also passed.

Remember Bling’s transistor radio baseball games all too well. Fans like BicycleMike and I, whom lived vast distances from St. Louis, had to jump through hoops to enjoy a Cardinals game.

First off, you could never obtain KMOX reception unless the sun had called it a day. During my youth, I lived in Milwaukee, Cleveland and Phoenix and at all locations it had to be dark outside to hear Jack & Harry do their thing…. and the later the better. West coast games usually came in as clear as a bell.

During early evening summer hours, roughly between 8p-10p, you’d have to almost continuously engage in battle with your antenna to locate that new exact spot which allowed you to catch the action. But once you did find that sweet spot, the enjoyment would only last a few minutes, when once again you would have to maneuver your radio and antenna into a myriad of different positions until you struck gold. If you stayed the course and were diligent in this labor of love, you would catch roughly 65% of the game’s action. Was all of this fiddling around worth it? Totally and unequivocally YES!

Still haven’t figured out if I’m supposed to pay somebody to watch Cardinals baseball games on Direct TV. I guess I’ll figure it out eventually.

From what I have read, if you previously had Fan Duel that carried the Cardinals on DirecTV, or cable provider, then there should be a channel within the next few weeks released that will carry the Cardinals.TV as part of your package. I’ve read some carriers may make it part of a higher package or sports package and not part of their base package. Don’t know though and that could be for some of the other teams in other areas MLB has taken over. I assume it’s not released yet because they are still negotiating the cost of this channel with the carriers.

I think one of my brothers has our grandpa’s RCA Victor transistor radio from the 60s. It’s white and has a big round dial you turn to tune in. AM only IIRC. I’ll have to track it down. I remember him sitting at the kitchen table listening to it and smoking Lucky Strike’s.

Regarding Cardinal radio… I had a job at a Springfield, IL radio station, where I inserted the local commercials in between innings and was getting a whopping $4.00 per hour to listen to Buck and Shannon. Loved it. I even got to meet them during the strike season when they came to Springfield to do a couple Springfield Redbirds games. They refurbished the booth for them, installing an air conditioner for them.Jack Buck was very kind to me for the few minutes I was up in the booth before the game. Shannon was on the phone. Complaining to his hotel about his room… Great memories.

    Mudville?

The DirecTV Xtra Innings package is still out there on the DirecTV website. Me and a buddy keep wondering the same thing – will we get Cardinal games and all of the other MLB games this year.

    Time is running short……

I would think if you have the extra innings package, you should already be getting games. I do know the extra innings thing is tied to their sattelite. If you do the stream like i do, you cant get it.

I don’t think the Xtra Innings package with DirecTV gives you ALL of the spring training games. I think I can get the ST games for the Cards, Reds, Cubs, and WhiteSox if – IF – they are being broadcast, of course.

I think the Xtra Innings package starts for ALL of MLB begins with Opening Day.

You can watch Cardinals.TV presented by bet365 through your preferred TV provider, including Spectrum, DirectTV, XFinity, Fubo, and more. No additional subscription is needed! Please check back soon for channel number updates. Channel number details will be available on or just before Opening Day, March 26, 2026.

They have officially announced they will be on Spectrum and DiretTV as part of the provider package if you are in the viewing area.

I think they could be more specific now. I just signed up for cardinal tv but may cancel to avoid paying, they give you seven days. From what ive read about direct tv, it could depend on the package you have. I dont have the sports package, i have the choice package. Too many questions this close to opening day.

When I had DirectTV stream I had to have a higher package to get Fan Duel to watch them too. So it probably won’t be included in the base package.

Only about ten days away from Opening Day.

Just wondering if anyone has any idea yet if DirecTV will still carry ALL the games with their Extra Innings Package as they have in the past?

I’m still waiting to hear what channel the Cardinal games will be on this season?

On DirecTV it’s always been Channel 671 – FDMW – and that’s what DirecTV shows now on Channel 671. But it’s my understanding FanDuel will not be carrying the games anymore.

Same way with Cincinnati. They are on DirecTV Channel 661 – FDOH. And that’s what Channel 661 shows. But again, if FanDuel isn’t broadcasting games…..???????

As we get closer, it will probably show up in guide hopefully.
