I remember Nate Colbert, didn’t know he was from St. Louis. I remember he had a killer Strato-Matic card back in the day. Loved playing that game. For some reason I donated my old set. A friend and I tried to play the entire 1977 season. Needless to say, we quit partway through. Thought about buying it again but it’s crazy expensive.
The only thing I dislike more than late night games are the Apple TV games.

Nothing like late games from the west coast. Really looking forward to this one tonight.
My late din-din tonight will be a grilled cheese sandwich, some baked beans, an ice cold slushy FrostTop Grape drink, and a bowl of Turkey Hill Old Fashioned Vanilla ice cream. Then a couple of 7×50 Palma Real Presidente cigars whilst me and Whitey Herdog sit on the couch and watch the game.
And speaking of Whitey Herdog, she goes back to the Vet next Tuesday the 12th. He will run a CBC and I am hoping and praying her red blood cell count is up some. It was fairly low back in January and that prompted the doomsday diagnosis from a different veterinarian.

I was an APBA game player back in the day, and still play sim games but computer versions.
Din-din tonight was homemade meatball sandwiches topped with Mozzarella cheese, fries, and a big tossed salad. Drink was basically water, but I put an Emergen-C packet in mine to get a good dose of vitamin C.
Not going to be able stay up for this one. I worked last night’s Rockies-Mets game and didn’t hit the sack until midnight. Then was up at 7 to get a few things done around here before heading out and working today’s game. I’m beat – felt like I was going to doze off on the train ride home.
Go Cards! If we win I will watch the condensed game tomorrow morning while working out, and will check in here for the game commentary.
Ratsbuddy, best of luck with Whitey Herdog. Anyone who doesn’t think of their pet as a part of their family is really missing out.Our daughter lost her pet Yorkie, Lilly, on Christmas eve. Lilly, like our cats Daisy and Lucky are truly members of the family. Think happy thoughts.
ESPN’s lead-in game to the Cardinals/Padres game is the Rays/Red Sox at Fenway. I just saw Contreras get thrown out after a base hit while trying to take 2B on the throw to HP. Once Wilson retired to the dugout, he made a concerted effort to destroy the Red Sox bat rack with what looked to be about a 40 oz. black Marucci piece of lumber. Wilson can be an “Excitable Boy” at times…Haha!
Fantastic that you’re a fellow dog lover, Jedi! In my neck of the woods here in Wisconsin, we’ve been dealing with securing freedom for hundreds of terribly mistreated beagles. Most had been living in small cages for research purposes, having never touched a single blade of grass. Good luck to the sweet Whitey HerDog with her next veterinarian visit!
Tonight is going to be a toughie. How sweet it would be to jump right out of the gate on this western trip with a victory. These next 7 games are going to tell us much about our 2026 squad.
I will only catch a couple innings before bed. We had a toddler and a 4 year old here for din din so we had dinosaur shaped mcnuggets, tater tots with ketchup, grapes, and strawberry yogurt for dessert.
Machado looks like he has a sleeve cut from the daisy and butterfly pattern material used for some of those oven mitt prizes…
And the Redbird manager has one on those old alarm clocks wrapped around his left wrist…Matheny used to wear one of those.
Looked like Walker probably should have had that excuse me swing RBI base hit from Bogaerts. Didn’t appear to be a very strong effort out in RF to keep that baseball from touching grass.
If Liberatore can consistently duplicate those last 3 breaking balls he’ll stick around in the Big Leagues for 20 years.

Just got up for a middle-of-the-night slash and thought I’d check in on the game for an inning or two. 1-1 in the fifth. Maybe I can urge them on to another run before returning to the sack.
Rah Cardinals!Liberatore has looked great through 6. Unfortunately so did King. Glad to see King not return for the seventh. And just like that Walker greets the new pitcher with a lead off double. Winn follows with a triple to give us the lead.
Scott can certainly run, but he doesn’t ever seem to get that good running jump during the SB attempt. Guys like Lou, Rickey and Raines seemed to be half way to the 2B bag just as soon as the pitcher released the baseball. Running speed is always nice to have, but the art of base thievery has always been just as important an asset as good wheels.
For one reason or another I don’t feel real comfortable with a 1 run lead heading into the home half of the 8th inning…
Here comes the Bogsider from Derry to try to protect the 1 run lead and seal it shut for the W…It’s never easy.

O’Riley O’Brien’s now tied for the Big League lead in SV’s with 11 of them. And he’s had several that were of the slim 1 run lead variety. Those kind aren’t for the squeamish. It’s my view he’s been the linchpin of this team’s success.
