Jacob DeGrom is an ace but Syndergaard is not.
Both Flaherty and Hudson have a better ERA than Syndergaard this year and Flaherty has more SO’s.
Why would you give up Hudson or Flaherty for Syndergaard?
We have no LH starting pitchers…very important to fill that void.
Ray is a quality LH pitcher that the Cardinals don’t have so yeas he is a difference maker. The question is Montero the right amount of trade option?
Would you trade Elehuris Montero for either Ray or Minor?
And called up Lane Thomas.
Rosscup isn’t…he is going to Memphis.
I think Fernandez and Arozarena are both ready to be called up…starting pitching is the hole.

I agree…again Minor or Ray would be my targets if I was the GM.
We don’t need a # 1 or 2 necessarily…we just need a quality starter to go with Mikolas, Hudson & Flaherty.
This year Minor is not a middling pitcher. He is a quality LH pitcher which the Cardinals do not have with a 5.8 WAR and an ERA of 3.00 136 SO’s. By comparison, Grienke has an ERA of 2.87 128 SO’s. Minor does not come with a long-time commitment only thru 2020. IMO he is the way to go.
Mike Minor has a better WAR and ERA this year than Boyd does.
I don’t know what it would take to get Minor or Ray but I think both could be had for reasonable…probably more for Ray than Minor.
Why not…LH starting pitching IMO is the Cardinals biggest hole in their roster.
